  • Effects of pressure come-up and holding times on the inactivation of Salmonella enterica and Listeria monocytogenes were evaluated in deionized water, milk, orange juice, and tomato juice with pH 6.76, 6.85, 3.46, and 4.11, respectively. The inoculated samples were subjected to high pressure treatments at 300, 400, and 500 MPa for less than 10 min at $30^{\circ}C$. At 500 MPa, the numbers of S. enterica and L. monocytogenes in deionized water, orange juice, and tomato juice were reduced by more than 6 log CFU/mL during the come-up time. Compared to orange and tomato juices, milk showed a considerable baroprotective effect against S. enterica and L. monocytogenes. At 300 MPa, the D values for S. enterica in milk, orange juice, and tomato juice were 0.94, 0.41, and 0.45 min, while those for L. monocytogenes were 9.56, 1.11, and 0.94 min, respectively. Low pH resulted in a noticeable synergistic effect on the inactivation of S. enterica and L. monocytogenes in orange and tomato juices. Therefore, these results might provide more useful information for designing the entire high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) conditions, taking the come-up time reduction, and food system.

  • Arrangement of the facilities for improving harbor functions depends on sea and land conditions such as the ship's arrival and departure conditions, waves and tide. And the plan and the size of the facilities depend much on harbor and marine environment condition such as cargo quantity, ship size, ship traffic and seawater circulation. Among these, waves have so much effect on a breakwater design that it is the most important to understand their characteristics and to apply them to breakwater design. Therefore, to analyze the effect of waves characteristics over a rubble mound breakwater, we have calculated wave pressure by using numerical analysis at each tide level and have analyzed the effect of wave pressure on structure stability by conducting the stability analysis with the wave pressure. As a result, it is found that during low and mean tide level time the biggest wave pressure is estimated near calm water level. But during high tide time, the biggest wave pressure is estimated in front of capping. And the stability analysis indicates also that a structure is most unstable when low tide time wave pressure is acting on. After reviewing the stability of a structure by applying vertical and horizon wave forces, it is concluded that safety factor is lower than ordinary time(max. about 15%), is also reviewed when designing a rubble mound breakwater.

  • A theoretical study on the pressure fluctuation induced by a propeller was carried out in this study. The main objective of this study is to analyze the source mechanism of the pressure fluctuation induced by propeller sheet cavitation. To analyze the pressure fluctuation induced by propeller sheet cavitation, modern acoustic theory was applied. Governing equation of pressure fluctuation induced by sheet cavitation was derived using Ffowcs Williams proposed time domain acoustic approaches. Several factors affecting pressure fluctuation were analyzed based on the derived governing equation. Pressure fluctuation result was represented by combined results of the far field term and near field term. Finally, the physical mechanism of pressure fluctuation at the blade rate frequency was analyzed using numerically generated cavitation volume variation.

  • The shape and thickness distribution according to the pressure-time curve were carried out using the FEM and experiment. Also, mechanical properties were investigated. The square cup parts have been formed with pressure-time curve generated by result of analysis. The tensile strength and elongation have been investigated according to applied pressure conditions using the tensile test specimen obtained from the superplastic formed cup. We can use to predict the shape of formed part under the applied pressure using the FEM analysis. In the case of optimum pressure condition, the thickness distribution and mechanical properties were improved. From this study, we can find the important of optimum pressure-time condition. We have investigated about the forming of airplane part and fuel tank for motorcycle. If the applied load used in boundary conditions was appropriate, the simulation result coincides with the formed part. However, it is very difficult to define the pressure condition in complicated shape. Thus, it is need to develop the optimum pressure condition for superplastic forming.

  • The effect of annealing time in Metal Organic Deposition(MOD) method was investigated at reduced total pressure. As the total annealing pressure was reduced, the growth rate of YBCO films increased from 0.14nm/sec at atmospheric pressure to 4.2nm/sec at 1 Torr. For the total pres sure of 700, 500, 300, 100, and 1 Torr, the optimal annealing times of 60, 40, 20, 10, 2minutes were found in our experimental conditions. When the an nealing time was short, poor crystallinity or un-reacted phase was obtained. Also, the degradation of YBCO films occurred when exposed longer to the humid ambient at the high annealing temperature. The reduced pressure was found effective to in crease the growth rate and to control the pore size of the YBCO films in MOD method. A fast growth of MOD-YBCO films was realized with high critical current density over $1MA/cm^2$ using reduced pressure annealing. Large pores, usually observed at atmospheric pressure in MOD method, disappeared and also, the number of pores was reduced.

  • We measured change of peripheral skin temperature and mean skin temperature when the upper arm and thigh are pressured in order to know the effect of skin pressure applied by clothing on blood circulation. After release from pressure, we observed also recovery condition. At the same time, we examined relation between pressure and a feeling of thightness. Three physiques of healthy females, namely slender, standard and plump, served as subjects. We used continuous restraint method with skin pressure applied by experimental fabric for 10 min. As a result of this experiment, we obtained following findings. 1. The significant difference was marked at the pressure, measuring time and physique with change of skin temperature under upper arm restraint. The peripheral and mean skin temperature decreased with the lapse of restraint time. A remarkable tendency observed according to the increase of restraint pressure. Recovery condition after release from pressure not yet recovered to original state, for all after a lapse of 10 min. 2. The significant difference was marked at the pressure, measuring time and physique with change of skin temperature under thigh restraint, especially different physique was remarkable among them. The peripheral skin temperature decreased or decreased. Recovery condition after release from pressure was the same upper arm. 3. Main factor affecting the evaluation of a feeling of tightness was restraint pressure. The value of pressure sensation made remarkable declined after a lapse of 10 min restraint time. Individual differences, however, were shown in pressure sensation.

  • In the present study, gas-assisted molding and structural vibration analysis of hollow long cylinder with the variation of gas injection pressure are performed. Though there are so many parameters such as delay time, injection pressure, and gas pressure on gas-assisted molding, the latter has the most dominant effect on this process. Therefore, the present paper deals with the effects of gas pressure on the dynamic stiffness of the model by means of vibration analysis and then suggests the fundamental materials which can be directly adapted to manufacturing lines.
