  • This paper addresses the development of a 3-fingered humanoid robot hand system and a real-time grasp synthesis of multifingered robot hands to find grasp configurations which satisfy the force closure condition of arbitrary shaped objects. We propose a fast and efficient grasp synthesis algorithm for planar polygonal objects, which yields the contact locations on a given polygonal object to obtain a force closure grasp by the multifingered robot hand. For an optimum grasp and real-time computation, we develop the preference and the hibernation process and assign physical constraints of the humanoid hand to the motion of each finger. The preferences consist of each sublayer reflecting the primitive preference similar to the conditional behaviors of humans for given objectives and their arrangements are adjusted by the heuristics inspired from human's grasping behaviors. The proposed method reduces the computational time significantly at the sacrifice of global optimality, and enables the grasp posture to be changable within two-finger and three-finger grasps. The performance of the presented algorithm is evaluated via simulation studies to obtain the force-closure grasps of polygonal objects with fingertip grasps. The architecture suggested is verified through experimental implementation to our robot hand system by solving the 2- or 3-finger grasp synthesis.

  • A railway station forecourt is the first place in a city that may make an impression on first time visitors. Their first impression is influenced by the view of the city from the station. This study had two objectives: one was to clarify the evaluation structure of a station forecourt landscape and the other was to clarify the effect of landscape elements on public preference using multivariate analysis, and to discuss the problems of designing a station forecourt. In order to accomplish these objectives, psychological experiments based on photos of station forecourts were carried out, and the relationship between public preference and landscape elements was analyzed. A significant relationship between public preference and elements of a station forecourt landscape was quantitatively observed and several problems inherent to station forecourt design were identified.

  • The ammunition allocation problem is a Multi-objective optimization(MOO) problem, maximizing fill-rate of multiple user troops and minimizing transportation time. Recent studies attempted to solve this problem by the prior preference articulation approach such as goal programming. They require that all the preference information of decision makers(DM) should be extracted prior to solving the problem. However, the prior preference information is difficult to implement properly in a rapidly changing state of war. Moreover they have some limitations such as heavy cognitive effort required to DM. This paper proposes a new ammunition allocation model based on more reasonable assumptions and uses an interactive MOO method to the ammunition allocation problem to overcome the limitations mentioned above. In particular, this article uses the GDF procedure, one of the well-known interactive optimization methods in the MOO liter-ature, in solving the ammunition allocation problem.

  • This study aimed to create a standardized recipe using three cultivars of tomatoes (Chal-tomato, Daejeo-tomato, Blacktomato) and select an appropriate tomato for producing tomato Jangajii through quality and sensory evaluation. With regard to the proximate composition of tomato Jangajii, moisture and ash contents of Chal-tomato were highest in the early stage of storage, whereas moisture, crude protein and ash contents of Black-tomato were highest in the final stage of storage. Daejeotomato showed minimal changes in pH, but showed the highest salt and sugar contents. L value increased with increasing storage time and then decreased thereafter (p<0.001). The a and b values decreased with increasing storage time and then increased thereafter (p<0.001). The reducing sugar content increased with increasing storage time and then decreased thereafter (p<0.001). With regard to Daejeo-tomato, hardness was the highest (p<0.001), and total microbial counts were lowest (p<0.001). Daejeo-tomato showed the lowest activities of PME as a softening enzyme and PG. For sensory properties, Daejeo-tomato showed a relatively high preference for all items except aroma. Based on the above results, Daejeo-tomato Jangajii showed superior quality characteristics and high preference in general among tomato Jangajii from all three cultivars of tomatoes. Therefore, Daejeo-tomato Jangajii is useful as low-sodium tomato Jangajii in light of quality characteristics and preference.

  • This study describes the production of functional Ssukgaen Dduk though the addition of yam and mugwort to Goami 2, a healthy diet and diabetes. In this study, the rice is soaked for many hours and the particle size distribution of the rice was determined as a function of the water-soaking time. The produce Ssukgaen Dduk was repeated after the addition of varying concentration of yam. Non-glutinous rice was soaked for 4, 8, 12 hours and the Goami 2 rice was soaked for 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 hours and ground to a powder and passed through a 18~30 mesh sieve to determine the particle size distribution of the rice as a function of water-soaking time. Using this approach, optimal soaking time for Dduk was found to be 4 hours for non-glutinous rice(pass rate of 30 mesh: 58.29%) and 12 hours for Goami 2(pass rate of 30 mesh: 87.88%). When Ssukgaen Dduk made with Goami 2 rice powder only and those made with varying amounts of yam(10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%) were subjected to the sensory test, the control group(non-glutinous rice Ssukgaen Dduk) had the highest preference in general(3.73). Out of Ssukgaen Dduk containing yam, the S4 group, which contained 30% yam, had the highest preference(2.87) In addition the S4 group also had the highest extent of soft, and delicacy of texture general preference of S5, 40% the lowest(2.37), S1 only Goami 2 the hardness(112.59), as 91.46 lower (83.85) yam increased, the less hard the texture Ssukgaen Dduk. In conclusion Ssukgaen Dduk though the addition of mugwort and yam to the Goami 2 rice, it would be better to add 30% yam to 70% Goami 2 rice powder mixed with mugwort.
