This paper presents a multiple gain controlled digital phase and frequency detector with a fast lock-time. Lock-time of the digital PLL can be significantly reduced by applying proposed adaptive gain control technique. A loop gain of the proposed digital PLL is controlled by three conditions that are very large phase difference between reference and feedback signal, small phase difference and before lock-state, and after lock-state. The simulation result shows that lock-time of the proposed multiple gain controlled digital PLL is 100 times faster than that of the conventional structure with unit gain mode.
This paper presents a two-phase method for the vehicle routing problems with time windows(VRPTW). In a supply chain management(SCM) environment, timely distribution is very important problem faced by most industries. The VRPTW is associated with SCM for each customer to be constrained the time of service. In the VRPTW, the objective is to design the least total travel time routes for a fleet of identical capacitated vehicles to service geographically scattered customers with pre-specified service time windows. The proposed approach is based on ant colony optimization(ACO) and improvement heuristic. In the first phase, an insertion based ACO is introduced for the route construction and its solutions is improved by an iterative random local search in the second phase. Experimental results show that the proposed two-phase method obtains very good solutions with respect to total travel time minimization.
Real-time formation of $L1_0$ phase of FePt nanoparticles in the gas phase during ultrasonic-spray pyrolysis is first discussed in the present study. Without any post heat treatment, $L1_0$ phase of FePt nanoparticles appeared at the temperature above $900^{\circ}C$ in the gas phase synthesis. X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies revealed that FePt nanoparticles less than 10 nm in size contained small volume of $L1_0$ fct phase. However, in other samples obtained at the temperature below $900^{\circ}C$, iron oxide phase co-existed and no evidence of phase transformation was found. Thus, it is anticipated that the time of flight of particles required for crystallization and phase transformation was extended according to the increase of the collision rate. Finally, magnetic properties represented by coercivity and saturation magnetization and functional groups on the particle surface were discussed based on VSM and FT-IR results.
This paper, we propose a new phase-locked loop (PLL) system with the controllable output phase, independent from the output frequency, and lock-up time. This PLL system has a dual control loop is described, the inner loop greatly improved VCO characteristic such as faster speed response as well as higher operation bandwidth, to minimize the effect of the VCO noise and the power supply variation and also get better linearity of VCO output. The main loop is the heart of this PLL which greatly improved the output frequency instability due to the external high frequency noise coupling to the input reference frequency also the main loop can control the output phase, independent from the output frequency, and reduce the lock-up time of the step frequency response. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed strategy.
In this paper, a new algorithm to measure the ultrasonic travel time is proposed, which is fundamental to estimate distance depth and volume in several media. Pulse wave has been used to measure travel time of transmitted signal. However, due to the characteristic of transducer and propagation, the received signal is so distorted that it is difficult to measure travel time, which is propagation, the received signal is so distorted that it is difficult to measure travel time, which is to be time difference between transmitted and received signals. In this proposed method, transmitted and received signal are transformed respectively into norm phase newly designed by this paper and displayed on phase-time curve. And travel time is simply determined by the arithmetic numerical mean of time difference at the identical norm phase on the phase-time curves of transmitted and received signals. This method has several features; firstly, travel time is calculated analytically with high accuracy by least square error method, secondly, it is useful to compare the difference of signal magnitude for time information, thirdly, noise and discrete errors are relatively small, finally, the measurement accuracy is not influenced by D.C. bias. In particular, this method is useful and applicable to measuring very short distance and sound speed with high accuracy.

Energy storage and distribution technologies are emerging as important factors as research on renewable energy continues. Analyzing the thermal flow of phase change material inside a latent heat storage device and to predict the phase change time is an important part for improvement of thermal performance. However, most of the current research is based on the trial-and-error experimental investigation to measure the phase change time. Therefore, in this study, a can-type phase change material container was designed, and the numerical method for analyzing the thermal flow of phase change material was established and validated. The error rate of the phase change time between the numerical and experimental results was within 5%, which proves its reliability. As a result, the phase change finishing times were found to be 78 minutes with inlet fluid temperature of 80℃ during charging process, and 126 minutes with inlet fluid temperature of 9℃ during discharging process.
Freezing of gait is a severely problem in people with Parkinson's disease. The purpose of this study was to investigate the muscle activities of adductor longus, gluteus medius, gluteus maximus, biceps femoris, rectus femoris, gastrocnemius, and tibialis anterior using Noraxon 8 channels EMG system during stop task in patients with Parkinson's disease. Seven parkinson's patients and age matched normal participants were recruited in the study. Filtered EMG signals were rectified, smoothed and integrated. To control for the altered timing and magnitude of activity, iEMG was normalized for time and peak value. The results indicated that the patients with Parkinson showed decreased gait cycle, stance phase, swing phase time, swing phase time ratio and increased stance phase time ratio than normal participants. The patients with Parkinson showed decreased gastrocnemius muscle activity time ratio, while increased tibialis anterior muscle activity time ratio than normal participants. During stance phase before stop, the patients with Parkinson showed relatively lower average and peak iEMG in anterior tibialis and gastrocnemius muscle than normal participants. During swing phase before stop, the patients with Parkinson showed relatively higher average iEMG in gastrocnemius muscle than normal participants. During stop phase, the patients with Parkinson showed relatively lower average and peak iEMG in anterior tibialis and gastrocnemius muscle than normal participants.

In this paper, we will make a model that finds optimal phase for each crossroad. When the traffic volume, traffic capacity, and the lane width of every direction is given for each crossroad, we aim to find the most efficient phase. We established an evaluation function that evaluates the efficiency of each phase using the values of the average waiting time in one direction, the average delay time, the standard deviation of the delay time, and the average delay time in each direction. The time allocation to optimize a phase pattern can be obtained by using the gradient decent method. Through this research, we hope to decrease the waiting time in transporation, thus improving the overall traffic condition in cities.

In order to examine how the solid-liquid interface responds to temperature variation depending on the materials characteristics, i.e. faceted phase or nonfaceted phase, the moving solid-liquid interface of transparent organic material, as a model substance for metallic materials (pivalic acid, camphene, salol, and camphor-50wt% naphthalene) was observed in-situ. Plots of the interface movement distance against time were obtained. The solid-liquid interface of the nonfaceted phase is atomically rough; it migrates in continuous mode, giving smooth curves of the distance-time plot. This is the case for pivalic acid and camphene. It was expected that the faceted phases would show different types of curves of the distance-time plot because of the atomically smooth solid-liquid interface. However, salol (faceted phase) shows a curve of the distance-time plot as smooth as that of the nonfaceted phases. This indicates that the solid-liquid interface of salol migrates as continuously as that of the nonfaceted phases. This is in contrast with the case of naphthalene, one of the faceted phases, for which the solid-liquid interface migrates in "stop and go" mode, giving a stepwise curve of the distance-time plot.
A unique technique to extract the phase in time domain is proposed in order to measure the time parameters such as speed and depth by transmitting sound and electric waves. In the signal analysis processing, the phase of pulse signal can be transformed and digitalized with local data in real time without the effect of direct current bias and Nyquist limits. This method is sensitive to base frequency of pulse signal with high spacial resolution and is effective to compare two signals which have different forms. It is expected that the phase analysis technique will be applied to the measurement of the speed and depth accurately by ultrasonic pulse signal in water.
