  • To estimate undegraded intake protein (UIP) fraction in feeds and fodders, on the basis of their neutral detergent insoluble N content was studied. Samples of six feeds and forages were incubated in situ for a time equivalent to their mean retention time, estimated on the basis of their digestibility plus 10 h (to account for a lag in passage of particles from the rumen). The samples were incubated for 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% of the estimated total mean retention time. UIP value of leguminous forages, obtained from the fractional rates of degradation and passage, were highly correlated with those estimated from samples incubated for 75% of total mean retention time, while incubating the non-leguminous forages and groundnut cake for this point over estimate the UIP fraction.

  • A diffusion model for a system subject to random shocks is introduced. It is assumed that the state of system is modeled by a Brownian motion with negative drift and an absorbing barrier at the origin. It is also assumed that the shocks coming to the system according to a Poisson process decrease the state of the system by a random amount. It is further assumed that a repairman arrives according to another Poisson process and repairs or replaces the system i the system, when he arrives, is in state zero. A forward differential equation is obtained for the distribution function of X(t), the state of the systme at time t, some boundary conditions are discussed, and several interesting characteristics are derived, such as the first passage time to state zero, F(0,t), the probability of the system being in state zero at time t, and F(0), the limit of F(0,t) as t tends to infinity.

  • The problem of scheduling the passage things with low transit priority to maximize the amonnt that can be sent during given time periods without interfering with the fixed schedule for passage things with high transit priority in a track, is treated in this paper. The problem is transformed into the Time Expanded Network without traverse time through the Ford and Fulkerson Model and the Enumeration Algorithm is developed for solutions using TENET GENerator(TENETGEN). Finally, the proposed algorithm is compared with Dinic's maximal-flow algorithm and examined for the availability of the procedures on the personal computer.

  • The present trend is to classify time as a human resource. Time is considered as a human resource and refers not only to "clock time" that man possesses in equal amounts, but also to person's characteristic methods of assimilating and perceiving the passage of time. People differ in their ability to gauge the passage of time or to estimate the amount of time that an activity will take. The time used for household work by homemaker was analysed in that viewpoint. Specially the aim of this study was to find and analyse any differences from the style of house, the kind of fuel for cooking, the system of the family, the age and educated degree of homemaker and income degree. For analysis useable responses of 247 returned were used. The conclusion is as follows. 1. Homemakers spent 11.8∼13.4 hours for household work for a day. 2. Husband contributed 1∼1.4 hours, daughters and sons 0.6∼2.4 hours for household work a day. 3. There were large differences of the time spent on all food activities and care of clothes by the style of house and kitchen and the kind of fuel for coking. 4. The homemaker who has many children and preschool children spent much time for preparing the meal and care of clothes than others. 5. High educated homemaker spent less time for household work than others. 6. There are not any differences between time spent and income. 7. There are not also differences between time spent and having household equipment. It is assumed that many household equipment in the house aren't used effectively.

  • Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are often known to have a therapeutic potential in the cell-mediated repair for fatal or incurable diseases. In this study, canine umbilical cord MSCs (cUC-MSCs) were isolated from umbilical cord matrix (n = 3) and subjected to proliferative culture for 5 consecutive passages. The cells at each passage were characterized for multipotent MSC properties such as proliferation kinetics, expression patterns of MSC surface markers and self-renewal associated markers, and chondrogenic differentiation. In results, the proliferation of the cells as determined by the cumulative population doubling level was observed at its peak on passage 3 and stopped after passage 5, whereas cell doubling time dramatically increased after passage 4. Expression of MSC surface markers (CD44, CD54, CD61, CD80, CD90 and Flk-1), molecule (HMGA2) and pluripotent markers (sox2, nanog) associated with self-renewal was negatively correlated with the number of passages. However, MSC surface marker (CD105) and pluripotent marker (Oct3/4) decreased with increasing the number of subpassage. cUC-MSCs at passage 1 to 5 underwent chondrogenesis under specific culture conditions, but percentage of chondrogenic differentiation decreased with increasing the number of subpassage. Collectively, the present study suggested that sequential subpassage could affect multipotent properties of cUC-MSCs and needs to be addressed before clinical applications.

  • In this paper we consider a Markovian perfect debugging model for which the software failure is caused by two types of faults, one which is easily detected and the other which is difficult to detect. When a failure occurs, a perfect debugging is immediately performed and consequently one fault is reduced from fault contents. We also treat the debugging time as a variable to develop a new debugging model. Several measures, including the distribution of first passage time to the specified number of removed faults, are also obtained using the proposed debugging model, Numerical examples are provided for illustrative purposes.

  • The effects of unsteady flow on gas turbine, particularly on a rotor blade surface are numerically investigated. The unsteady flow in a rotor blade passage as a result of wake/blade interaction is modeled by the inviscid flow approach, and solved by the Euler equations using a time accurate marching scheme, Numerical results show that for the case of $P_s/ P_r= 1.5$, the velocity and pressure distribution on the blade surfaces have much more complex profiles than those of $P_s/ P_r= 1.0$.

  • Railroad disasters are frequently occurred by man-made causes or natural causes. In general, man-made causes are illegal construction practices, deterioration with the lapse of time and railroad crossing accidents, and natural causes are rainfall. snow, wind, earthquake, etc. Of cause, railroad disasters by man-made causes are prevented from keeping the safety principle, constructing multi-level crossing, securing enough men of ability and financial resources and making a thorough check using equipments with high capacity. And railroad disasters by natural causes are also minimized by construction of disaster prevention facilities, introduction and operation of general disaster prevention system and reasonable train passage control. Therefore, to setup the criterion of train passage control for train safety at railroad bridge under heavy rainfall, risky factors, national and oversea criteria under such circumstances are reviewed and a scheme to setup the criterion is suggested.

  • Objectives: This paper is to investigate what effects Yeonryunggobondan and Palmijihwangtang have on postponing senility in rat fibroblasts, heart-endothelial cells, mesangial cells. Methods: 1. In vitro Yeonryunggobondan and Palmijihwangtang controlled the growth of fibroblasts, heart-endothelial cells, mesangial cells, extended the PDT of them. 2. After feeding rats the drugs for 2 months, the fibroblasts, heart-endothelial cells, mesangial cells were cultured. Results: 1) In fibroblasts the PDN was incresed and the PDT was decreased at passage-1, 2 by Yeonryunggobondan and Palmijihwangtang(p<0.05). 2) In heart-endothelial cells the PDN was incresed and the PDT was decreased at passage 8 by Yeonryunggobondan and Palmijihwangtang(p<0.05). 3) In mesangial cells the PDN was increased and the PDT was decreased at passage 4 by Yeonryunggobondan, the PDN was incresed at passage 4 by Palmijihwangtang(p<0.05). Conclusions: It is concluded that both Yeonryunggobondan and Palmijihwangtang maybe be conductive to protect and delay the senescence of rat fibroblasts, heart-endothelial cells, mesangial cells.
