  • Purpose: Subcutaneous mastectomy has been accepted as a standard for the treatment of gynecomastia. Surgical managements including ultrasound-assisted liposuction(UAL) have had limited success and several combined approaches were tried to find the most effective method. We designed a modified subcutaneous mastectomy, which we call "pan-cake method". The purpose of this study is to evaluate the results of our method for the treatment of gynecomastia. Methods: 16 patients from 16 to 31 years of age having gynecomastia were operated using the pan-cake method. 11 patients were in grade I, and 5 patients were in grade II, no patient were in grade III or IV, according to Rod's classification. The pan-cake method started with modified periareolar incision. We executed subcutaneous dissection first and suprafascial dissection next. After dividing the breast into four equal quadrants, we removed breast tissue from each quadrant as necessary. The operation time for the resection was recorded and the weight of removed parenchyme tissues was measured. Results: All the operations were successful. There were no asymmetries, contour deformities, or irregularities. Only 6 cases needed the combined therapy with ultrasound-assisted liposuction(UAL) because of the step deformities. The average operation time was 24.1 minutes and the average weight of removed breast tissue was 98.1g. All the patients were satisfied with the aesthetic results. Conclusion: We concluded that the pan-cake method is an alternative option for the surgical treatment of gynecomastia, giving good aesthetic results and relatively short operation time.

  • The purpose of this study was to apply the deep running method to real estate price index predicting and to compare it with the time series analysis method to test the possibility of its application to real estate market forecasting. Various real estate price indices were predicted using the DNN (deep neural networks) and LSTM (long short term memory networks) models, both of which draw on the deep learning method, and the ARIMA (autoregressive integrated moving average) model, which is based on the time seies analysis method. The results of the study showed the following. First, the predictive power of the deep learning method is superior to that of the time series analysis method. Second, among the deep learning models, the predictability of the DNN model is slightly superior to that of the LSTM model. Third, the deep learning method and the ARIMA model are the least reliable tools for predicting the housing sales prices index among the real estate price indices. Drawing on the deep learning method, it is hoped that this study will help enhance the accuracy in predicting the real estate market dynamics.

  • In this study, a numerical sensitivity analysis was performed to determine the fire suppression time for a large number of water mist nozzles in a large fire compartment. Fire simulations were performed using FDS (Fire dynamics simulator) 6.5.2 under the same condition as the test scenario 5 of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 1165 test protocol. The sensitivities of input parameters including cell size, extinguishing coefficient (EC), droplets per second (DPS), and peak heat release rate (HRR) of fuel were investigated in terms of the normalized HRR and temperature distribution in the compartment. A new method of determining the fire suppression time using FDS simulation was developed, based on the concept of the cut-off time by cut-off value (COV) of the heat release rate per unit volume (HRRPUV) and the cooling time by the HRR cooling time criteria value (CTCV). In addition, a method was developed to determine the average EC value for the simulation input, using the cooling time and cut-off time.

  • In this paper, multi-object optimization based on a progressive quadratic response surface method (PQRSM) and a time stepping finite element method (FEM) is proposed. The new PQRSM and FEM are able to decide optimal geometric and electric variables of the switched reluctance motor (SRM) with two objective functions: torque ripple minimization and average torque maximization. The result of the optimum design for SRM demonstrates improved performance of the motor and enhanced relationship between torque ripple and average torque.

  • To evaluate the quality of a system or its ability to perform a required function, it is necessary to quantify the reliability of that system. The reliability techniques are based on the concept of expected failure rate and average-outage-duration method. For each load point, the expected failure rate, average outage duration and average annual outage time are evaluated. This paper deals with the reliability evaluation for distribution system including the protection relay system. In evaluating the reliability, it suggests a method for the analysis of protective system reliability, that provides a probabilistic measure of the success of the protective apparatus to perform its intended function. The analysis shows the dependency of success on the reliability of many components, and the way this reliability may be enhanced by redundancy.

  • Cluster sensor network is a sensor network where input nodes crowd densely around some nuclei. Steiner minimum tree is a tree connecting all input nodes with introducing some additional nodes called Steiner points. This paper proposes a mechanism for efficient construction of a cluster sensor network connecting all sensor nodes and base stations using connections between nodes in each belonged cluster and between every cluster, and using repetitive constructions of approximate Steiner minimum trees. In experiments, while taking 1170.5% percentages more time to build cluster sensor network than the method of Euclidian minimum spanning tree, the proposed mechanism whose time complexity is O($N^2$) could spend only 20.3 percentages more time for building 0.1% added length network in comparison with the method of Euclidian minimum spanning tree. The mechanism could curtail the built trees' average length by maximum 3.7 percentages and by average 1.9 percentages, compared with the average length of trees built by Euclidian minimum spanning tree method.

  • This paper presents the vibration characteristics of a rectangular plate with 45$^{\circ}$oblique crack and a smooth plate subjected to a uniaxial tension. The experiment is adopted by the time-average holography method. The natural frequency and mode shape are considered accurate according to the increasement of tensile load in the study. When tensile load is zero, the vibration modes are almost agreed with the smooth and the 45$^{\circ}$obliquely cracked plate. But since then, according to the increasement of load, it is shown that vibration modes are extremely varied. The effects of the crack length in the vibration characteristic are discussed in detail. It is indicated that the increase of the crack length makes the variation of the frequencies and modes complicate in the range of even a small load.

  • Purpose: The object of this study was to compare the educational effect about self-efficacy and the quality of chest compressions of Hands-only CPR and Basic CPR. Methods: It's a nonequivalent control group pre-post repeated quasi-experiment study conducted with entire fifth grade students belong to one school in H city. The study participants are 68 persons, and data were collected from December 2, 2013 to February 7, 2014. Self-efficacy was measured by 10 items, and the quality of chest compressions was measured by 5 variables which are average compression depth(mm), average rate (n/min), average count per minutes (n), abnormal placement (n), compression accuracy (%). Results: Self-efficacy of the experimental group and control group showed no significant difference but showed significant difference over time and was the highest at posttest 1 (immediately after education), the lowest at pretest (before education), middle at posttest 2 (8weeks after education) (p<.001). Experimental group was significantly higher than control group in average rate per minute. At posttest 1, experimental group was $130.0{\pm}9.38$ times, control group was $95.1{\pm}11.82$ times. At posttest2, experimental group was $124.0{\pm}14.89$ times, control group was $90.8{\pm}14.89$ times.(p<.001). Average rate (n/min) was significantly declined at control group in the quality of chest compressions over time (t=-2.400, p=.022). Average count per minute and compression accuracy were declined significantly so it were not maintained to posttest2. Conclusion: We need continuous CPR education because self-efficacy of CPR getting lower significantly over time. Hands-only CPR can't be seen as a way to increase the CPR ability of elementary school students having difficulty to perform artificial breathing. And, because the effect of education is not maintained 8wks after training, the technique centered repeated training is needed and a method which can increase compression accuracy is also needed.
