SPH 기법을 이용한 주조공정 용탕 주입 유동 해석 (Molten Metal Flow Analysis of Casting Process Using SPH Method)

  • It is important to develop more efficient and productive casting processes for an automated high precision molten-metal casting system. Detailed analysis of molten-metal flow in the casting process by the numerical approach will help to optimize the control of a ladle. In this study, the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method was applied to analyze casting flow characteristics with different tilting angular speed and initial molten-metal level. The smoothed particle hydrodynamics technique has advantages to easily handle non-linear free surface behavior with the absence of a computational mesh. We found that tilting angular speed has relatively greater effect on the casting flowrate and that the effect of the initial molten-metal level is only minor. Further extensive study will be necessary to find an optimal condition for high efficient casting system.

틸팅열차용 판도그라프의 틸팅 기구장치 및 가이드 트랙 형상 설계 연구 (The Study for Design of Tilting Mechanism and Guide Track of Pantograph for Tilting Train)

  • The development of tilting train has been required for speed-up on the conventional electric railroad due to the characteristic of Korean railroad with a lot of curve track. The study and development of a tilting system and a tilting bogie which have a different mechanism with high speed train will play a important role for enhancement of technology for Korean railway. The study for tilting pantograph mechanism to decrease the displacement between a catenary and a center of pantograph happened when the carbody is tilted in order to maintain the ride comfort and stability m a curving track is proceeding with the development of tilting train. In this paper, we introduce the design concept for the tilting mechanism of pantograph and the role and characteristics for several devices adopted in the tilting mechanism of pantograph. Through the kinematic analysis of tilting mechanism, we will obtain and calculate the optimal tilting angular velocity and acceleration in order to keep the contact behavior of a pantograph and a catenary according to tilting of a carbody.

Design Consideration of Back-EMF Constant for 3-D.O.F. Spherical PM Motor

  • A 3-D.O.F. spherical PM motor has 3 degrees of freedom in its motion by tilting and rotating of a shaft, which can be applied in a range of fields. The back-EMF is proportional to the field flux and angular velocity. The back-EMF constant in conventional rotating machine has a uniform value. However, in a spherical PM motor, the back-EMF constant of the coils varies according to the tilting conditions regardless of whether the angular speed is constant. Consideration of the back-EMF constant is useful for designing 3-D.O.F. spherical PM motors. In this study, the back-EMF constant of the spherical PM motor was considered carefully.

  • Radial, tilting-pad proceeding bearings are applied in high speed rotating machines operating at stable small and mean loads and the peripheral speeds of proceeding reaching 150 m/s. The operation of bearing can be determined by static characteristics including the oil film pressure, temperature and viscosity distributions, minimum oil film thickness, load capacity, power loss, oil flow. The operation of 5-lobe tilted-pad proceeding bearing has been introduced at the assumption of adiabatic oil film. The oil film pressure, temperature and viscosity distributions habe received by iterative solution of the Reynolds', energy and viscosity equations. The resulting oil film force, minimum oil film thickness, power loss. oil flow, maximum oil film pressure, maximum temperature were computed for different sets of bearing geometric parameters as: bearing length to diameter ratio, pad angular length and width as well as pad relative clearance.

Kinematical Analysis of Somersault with Twist in Men's Vault: Focusing on the Lou Yun and Akopian Motions

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the kinematical characteristics of somersault with twist in the Lou Yun and Akopian motions and to provide useful information to gymnastic athletes in men's vault. Method: The study subjects were 12 male adult top athletes. After 12 trials (7 Lou Yun and 5 Akopian trials) filmed by using two digital high-speed camcorders set at 90 frames/sec, kinematical data were collected through the direct linear transformation (DLT) method. The mean differences in biomechanical variables were compared during the second flight upward phase. The kinematic characteristics of somersault with twist in the Lou Yun and Akopian motions were identified. Results: In Lou Yun motion, the vertical release velocity through horse breaking was not difficult to obtain, so the athletes had enough time to prepare for the twist. Therefore, the Lou Yun motion has an advantage to make a cat twist in the pike posture. In the Akopian motion, obtaining the horizontal velocity through horse pushing was so easy that the Akopian athletes attained a large angular impulse and angular momentum. Therefore, the Akopian motion has an advantage to making a tilt twist in the body tilting posture. Conclusion: This study suggests that gymnastic athletes should control their body segment movements in order to increase the twisting angular velocity of the whole body, which requires regulation of the longitudinal moment of inertia of the body. Moreover, athletes should prepare for the shoulder and hip twists early in order to make the landing position in advance.

  • High cutting speeds and feeds are essential requirements of a machine tool structure to accomplish its basic function which is to produce a workpiece of the required geometric form with an acceptable surface finish at as high a rate of production as is economically possible. Since the bearings in high speed spindle units are the main heat source of the total cutting system, in this work, the thermal characteristics of the spindle bearing system with a tilting axis were investigated using finite element methods to improve the performance of the spindle bearing system. Based on the theoretical results, a specially designed prototype spindle bearing system has been manufactured. Using the manufactured spindle bearing system, the thermal characteristics were measured. From the comparison of the experimental results with the theoretical ones, it was found that the finite element method predicted well the thermal characteristics of the spindle bearing system.

열차위치검지 시스템을 위한 관성센서 데이터 분석 연구 (Data Analysis of Inertial Sensors for Train Positioning Detection System)

  • 철도 시설물의 상태를 종합적으로 동시에 검측하고 건전성 평가가 가능한 고속 종합검측시스템을 위해 열차의 위치검지 정보는 필수불가결하다. 본 논문에서는 위치검지를 위한 위치 기술중 관성센서의 측정과 분석에 대해 다룬다. 관성센서의 가속도 정보와 각속도 정보에 대해 진폭과 주파수 관점에서 분석하였고, 진동 및 열차 동역학에 대한 검토도 이루어졌다. 이러한 검토 결과와 GPS 정보를 이용하여 호남선 나주역부터 일로역까지 한국형 틸팅열차의 위치검지를 수행하였다. 이와 같은 센서 측정치와 열차의 거동에 대한 동기화된 분석은 열차위치검지 시스템의 설계와 성능 향상에 도움을 줄 수 있다.
