틸팅차량의 곡선부 틸팅동작 시 윤중감소율 병화에 대한 고찰 (The study of wheel unloading change in case of tilting actuation)

  • Tilting train allow the train to pass curve at higher speed without affecting passenger comfort. As the tilting trains run curve track about 30$\%$ higher than non-tilting trains, the centrifugal force and dynamic force will be higher. Therefore it is very important for tilting train to ensure safety against derailment, and to reduce the lateral track forces by applying light-weight design, optimized suspension design and steering mechanism. The 180 km/h Korean Tilting Train(TTX) which is now developing as a part of the Korean National R & D project, was designed and analytically verified to meet these special requirements. This paper describes the analytic study to verify the safety against derailment, especially on the wheel unloading in case of tilting actuation. The severest curve geometry and curving speed was assumed, the tilting control pattern was also assumed as trapezoidal force function applied to tilting bolster and bogie frame. For the comparison, the operation with the speed of tilting train without tilting actuation was numerically simulated and the operation with the balanced speed without tilting actuation was also numerically simulated. Through the numerical simulation of various operating case, we found that derailment quotients, wheel unloading and Q/P was not affected by tilting actuation and that the bogie of TTX was nicely designed to satisfy the safety against the derailment.

  • In this paper, arm-type lifting mechanism which is attached under the frame of truck is analyzed. The three types of motions which are divided into rotation, pure lifting and automatic tilting motions are analyzed kinematically. These motions are visualized by computer graphics using Visual Basic. This program will be used for designer to demonstrate the arm-type lifting mechanism before making real machines. Also this program can change design parameter interactively.

한국형 틸팅열차의 임계속도에 관한 연구 (A study on the Critical speed of Korean Tilting Train)

  • The critical speed above which the vehicle become unstable should be fundamentally verified in the development of new train. In case of high speed tilting train, which require both higher critical speed and higher curving speed, the critical speed should be more carefully treated because the both requirements are conflicting each other in the conventional train design. This research has been performed to estimate the linear and non-linear critical speed of 200km/h Korean Tilting Train which has been developing. The newly developed self-steering mechanism was attached to the tilting train to secure critical speed under the lower yaw stiffness which was inevitable to secure higher curving performance. The simulation to predict critical speed was done by commercial vehicle dynamic S/W. Full scale roller rig test was carried out for the validation of numerical results and effectiveness of self-steering mechanism.

전방향 셀프-밸런싱 로봇휠체어 개발 (Development of a Omni-directional Self-Balancing Robot Wheelchair)

  • In this paper, we report a self-balancing robot wheelchair which has the capability of keeping upright posture regardless of the terrain inclination in terms of the three dimensional balancing motion. It has the mobility of five degrees of freedom, where pitching, yawing, and forward motions are generated by the two-wheeled inverted pendulum mechanism and the rolling and vertical motions are implemented by the movement of the tilting mechanism. Several design considerations are suggested for the sliding type vehicle body, wheel actuator module, tilting actuator module, power and control system, and the riding module.

고해상도 영상 획득을 위한 틸트 메커니즘 적용 기법 (Applying tilt mechanism for high-resolution image acquisition)

  • 본 연구논문에서는 고해상도 적외선 센서장비에서 조립오차에 의해 저하된 성능을 보완하기 위해 적외선 센서장비의 구성품인 렌즈조립체, 축거울 및 검출기의 민감도 분석을 통해 성능에 미치는 영향성을 확인하였고, 이를 보정하기 위해 검출기의 틸트 메커니즘 적용 방안에 대한 연구를 하였다. 검출기 틸트 메커니즘에는 장착면에 shim을 적용하여 tilt하는 방식인 Shim plate 방식과 tilt screw를 조정하여 검출면의 tilt를 조정하는 Tilting 나사 방식, 마지막으로 마이크로미터를 장착하여 정량적인 데이터를 획득할 수 있는 마이크로미터 헤드 방식으로 3가지 방식이 검토 되었다. 검토 결과 사용자의 조절이 용이하고 부피가 크지 않으며 실시간으로 영상을 보면서 조절이 가능한 Tilting 나사 방식을 적용하였으며, 실험결과 고해상도 영상을 획득할 수 있었으며 고해상도 영상획득을 구현하기 위한 장비에 적용이 필요한 기술임을 확인하였다.

좌우 틸팅이 가능한 굴삭기 버켓용 로터리 액츄에이터 설계 및 시험 (Design and Performance Test of a Rotary Actuator for Side Tilting Excavator Bucket)

  • Generally, a working excavator has only one directional bucket tilting angle, which is up-forward. However, side direction rotation of the bucket would allow variety of working output. We designed a hydraulic rotary actuator comprising a double rod hydraulic cylinder with a rack-pinion gear set for use in excavator bucket with side tilting mechanism, thus converting the linear to angular motion. The proposed side tilting rotary actuator was designed with parts suitable for medium size of heavy duty excavator. These mechanical parts were inexpensive to purchase and the manufacturing cost was reasonable. The proposed mechanism is potentially useful for excavator with variety of working output.

As the tilting trains offer the optimum means of providing faster and more comfortable rail service with minimum of environmental disturbance and capital investment, it is widely adopted for commercial operation all over the world. Over several years, the Korea Railroad Research Institute(KRRI) and Ministry of Construction and Transportation(MOCT) have been developing 200 km/h Korean tilting train, Hanvit200. Hanvit200 adopts the pendulum type tilting mechanism and hybrid car body structure, mainly CFRP combined with steel. In this paper the vibrational characteristics of Hanvit200 was investigated through Eigen vector analysis, modal test and main line running test.

  • Tilting trains could offer a low cost solution as they can be operated on existing track and attain higher speeds (as compared to conventional trains) thanks to a mechanism that tilts the vehicle body of the train when negotiating curves, thus giving it additional superelevation Also, the weight saving of the carbody structures of the tilting train is a significant problem to operate the tilting mechanism without failure and to minimize wear and tear on wheels and rails. Therefore, the TTX will be developed using hybrid design concept to match the challenging demands with respect to cost efficient lightweight design for carbody structures. Hybrid design helps to save production costs and to reduce the weight of carbodies.
