Improvement of Magnetic Circuit Characteristics for Moving Magnet Type Actuator in High Density Optical Disc (고밀도 광 디스크용 가동자석형 구동기의 자기회로특성 개선)

  • A moving-magnet type pickup actuator is proposed, which has the back-yoke to improve th sensitivity. Through the magnetic path analysis, we can find that the flux density is increased i the air gap by the pole assignment of magnet and the adding of back-yoke can reduce the flu leakage and induce 40% up of flux density. Experimental results show that the sensitivity i improved in the tracking direction, however, the improvement doesn't occur in the focusing direction. Finally, the compensation performance is tested in HD-DVD system. And it is verifie that the actuator can compensate the disc tilt of ${\pm}$0.7$^{\circ}$.

  • For high density optical storage, there should be a high NA objective lens and a shorter wavelength laser diode. To secure the disc tilt margin related to the coma aberration, moreover, it's difficult to apply the tilt compensation mechanism into the portable PC. In this paper, we proposed the 3-axis asymmetry pickup actuator with high efficiency symmetric magnetic circuit, which consisted of the top cover type inner yoke for high magnetic flux density, the coil stack unit for the 3-axis independent operation and vertically polarized magnets.   • In optical disc system, lens actuator of 4-wire has unwanted moment which occurs tilt. The moment around the axis pallet to the tangential direction of the disk occurs to the moving part. when the moving part is moved in tracking direction and focus driving force is applied. This paper analyzed coupled effect due to the moment based on structural analysis and magnetic field analysis, both using finite element method.

  • In this paper we deal with a hydraulic tilting actuator to make a diagnosis of load characteristic acting on the tilting actuator of the tilting train. Tilting actuator in the tilting train plays a role of making tilt of the train when the train runs a curve section to make the train run without deceleration. However in the process of tilt the tilting actuator is affected by the load acting on the actuator, which has a possibility to make bogie vibration. In order to figure out the effect of the load on the tilting actuator a hydraulic tilting devices that are capable of tilting the train is proposed. The proposed devices are installed in the front bogie and in the rear bogie to make tilting of the train. The devices are consist of sensors that measure the load capacity of the actuator and displacement of the hydraulic cylinder stroke, control blocks to make synchronization of the two actuators, user interface block to monitor the status of the actuators. The effectiveness of the proposed hydraulic tilting actuators is presented by the experimental evaluation using actual tilting train.

  • To improve the driving sensitivity of an optical pickup actuator for high density and high speed drive, we present a new actuator design using multipolar flux-density distribution by magnetic materials and Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets. We expect this actuator to use in 3-axis actuator fur tilt compensation as well as conventional 2-axis actuator. The electromagnetic field analysis applying 3-D FEM was performed and several samples were actually tested. From comparing simulated data with experimental results, we verified theaccuracy of the simulation and the superiority of the presented method.

  • The established gait analysis studies have regarded leg as one single spring. If we can design a knee-ankle actuating mechanism as a primary actuator for supporting knee extension, it might be possible to revolutionary store or release elastic strain energy, which is consumed during the gait cycle, and as a result leg stiffness is expected to increase. An ankle joint actuating mechanism that stores and releases the energy in ankle joint is expected to support and solve excessive artificial leg stiffness caused by the knee actuator (primary actuator) to a reasonable extent. If unnecessary kinematic energy is released with the artificial speed reduction control designed to prevent increase in gait speed caused by increase in time passed, it naturally brings question to the effectiveness of the actuator. As opposed to the already established studies, the authors are currently developing knee-ankle two actuator system under the concept of increasing lower limb stiffness by controlling the speed of gait in relative angular velocity of the two segments. Therefore, the author is convinced that compensatory mechanism caused by knee actuating must exist only in ankle joint. Ankle joint compensatory mechanism can be solved by reverse-examining the change in metatarso-phalangeal joint (MTPJ) tilt angle (${\theta}_1=0^{\circ}$, ${\theta}_2=17^{\circ}$, ${\theta}_3=30^{\circ}$) and the effect of change in gait speed on knee activity.

  • DVD, HD(High Density)-DVD등의 고밀도 광 디스크의 광 기록재생장치는 고 개구율(Numerical Aperature)의 대물렌즈로 집광 빔의 크기를 소형화하여 기록용량을 증대시키고 있다. 이 경우 광축과 광 디스크의 기록면에 대한 경사는 광학적인 수차가 발생되어 신호 레벨의 저하나 기록시의 피트(pit) 형성의 오류, Crosstalk등의 문제가 발생한다. 이를 극복하기 위해 직접 디스크의 경사에 따라 제어할 수 있는 픽업 구동기가 제안되어 왔지만 주로 Half Height(12.7mm)에 사용되는 틸트 구동기였으며 Slim(6.3mm)형 틸트 구동기는 제안되지 못하였다.   • The collision avoidance maneuver flight simulation for tilt rotor unmanned aerial vehicle was performed by time-accurate numerical integration method based on wind tunnel test data. Five representative collision avoidance maneuvers were simulated under constraints of aerodynamic stall, propulsion power, structural load, and control actuator capability. The collision avoidance performances of the maneuvers were compared by the computed collision avoidance times. The sensitivities of initial flight speed and collision zone shape on the collision avoidance time were investigated. From these results, it was found that the moderate pull-up turn maneuver defined using moderate pitch and maximum roll controls within simulation constraints is the most robust and efficient collision avoidance maneuver under the various flight speeds and collision object shapes in the tilt rotor UAV applications.

  • Recently, an optical disc system has been proposed using blue laser diode, high NA objective lens and groove only disc structure. A new method is needed to readout CD and DVD in this blue system. In order to readout CD and DVD in HD-DVD system, we adopted dual-lenses actuator in consideration of optical utilization efficiency, optical performance and insurance of sufficient W.D (working distance). This dual-lenses actuator has two objectives in radial direction, one is for CD/DVD and the other is for HD-DVD. We had to solve the induced problems of DC tilt increase, $2^{nd}$ resonance deterioration and AC sensitivity drop caused by disposing two lenses in an actuator. Especially, to solve AC sensitivity drop, we introduced two 2-pole magnets and separated focus and track magnetic circuits. Consequently we presented that dual-lenses actuator has been possessed good performance. And we measured eye patterns of CD, DVD and HD-DVD by using HD-DVD optical pick-up with dual-lenses actuator.
