In present study, a conventional sol-gel method was used to prepare Fe-ACF/$TiO_2$ composites, a kind of composite photocatalysts, whose capability was evaluated by degrading methylene blue (MB) solution. The particle size, surface structure, crystal phase and elemental identification of the composites prepared were characterized by BET, SEM, XRD and EDX, respectively. The spectra of MB concentration degraded under visible light were obtained by UV/Vis spectrophotometer. These obtained spectra demonstrated the photocaltalytic activity from removal concentrations of MB. It was considered that these photonic activities are induced by a strong synergetic reaction among ACF, $TiO_2$ and Fe in the composite photocatalysts under visible light.

Electronic and magnetic properties of $Ti_{1-x}M_xO_{2-\delta}$ (M=Co and Fe) thin films grown by sol-gel method have been investigated. Anatase and rutile $Ti_{1-x}Co_xO_{2-\delta}$ films were successfully grown on $Al_2O_3$ (0001) substrates and exhibited p-type electrical conductivity while the undoped films n-type conductivity. Room temperature vibrating sample magnetometry measurements on the anatase and rutile $Ti_{1-x}Co_xO_{2-\delta}$ films with same x ($=4.8 at.{\%}$) showed quite similar magnetic hysteresis curves with the saturation magnetic moment of $\~4 {\mu}_B$ per Co ion despite their differences in structural and electronic properties. Such giant magnetic moment is attributable to the unquenched orbital moment of the $Co^{2+}$ ions substituting the octahedral $Ti^{4+}$ sites. Similar ferromagnetic behavior was observed for $Ti_{1-x}Fe_xO_{2-\delta}$ films that are highly resistive compared to the Co doped samples. Saturation magnetic moment was found to decrease for higher x, i.e., $\~2$ and $\~1.5 {\mu}_B$ per Fe ion for x=2.4 and 5.8 at. $\%$, respectively. Conversion electron $M\ddot{o}ssbauer$ spectroscopy measurements predicted the coexistence of $Fe^{2+}$ and $Fe^{3+}$ ions at the octahedral sites of $Ti_{1-x}Fe_xO_{2-\delta}$.
The effect of aging heat treatment on microstructure evolution of the Ti-6Al-4Fe-0.25Si alloy with an initial microstructure of an elongated alpha was investigated. Aging treatments of the samples were carried out at $550^{\circ}C$ for up to 100 hours. The microstructure of the 5 hours heat-treated sample consisted of alpha grains, beta matrix and some TiFe intermetallic compounds that were precipitated from the beta matrix. Increasing the aging time to 10 hours, most of the beta matrix was decomposed to very fine alpha grains (${\sim}0.5{\mu}m$) and TiFe, and thus the volume fraction of the beta matrix was significantly decreased. EBSD analysis revealed that newly formed tertiary-alpha-grains in the vicinity of TiFe had high angle boundaries with respect to the primary and secondary alpha grains. As a result of these phase transformations during aging, the fraction of the alpha/alpha grain boundary was increased while that of the alpha/beta phase boundary was decreased.
Global fitting functions for Fe-selective chlorination in ilmenite($FeTiO_2$) and successive chlorination of beneficiated $TiO_2$ are proposed and validated based on a comparison with experimental data collected from the literature. The Fe-selective chlorination reaction is expressed by the unreacted shrinking core model, which covers the diffusion-controlling step of chlorinated Fe gas that escapes through porous materials of beneficiated $TiO_2$ formed by Fe-selective chlorination, and the chemical reaction-controlling step of the surface reaction of unreacted solid ilmenite. The fitting function is applied for both chemical controlling steps of the unreacted shrinking core model. The validation shows that our fitting function is quite effective to fit with experimental data by minimum and maximum values of determination coefficients of $R^2$ as low as 0.9698 and 0.9988, respectively, for operating parameters such as temperature, $Cl_2$ pressure, carbon ratio and particle size that change comprehensively. The global fitting functions proposed in this study are expressed simply as exponential functions of chlorination rate(X) vs. time(t), and each of them are validated by a single equation for various reaction conditions. There is therefore a certain practical merit for the optimal process design and performance analysis for field engineers of chlorination reactions of ilmenite and $TiO_2$.

Ti and Ti alloys are important materials for medical and dental applications. The effect of equal channel angular process(ECAP) and addition of Fe in Ti were studied with optical microstructure and corrosion behavior. Fine grains in Ti was obtained after ECAP. Corrosion behavior of commercial pure(CP)-Ti and Ti alloys was studied by open circuit test and polarization curve test(PCT) at $36.5^{\circ}C$ with SBF in biological environment. The corrosion behavior of ECAP-Ti was similar to that of CP-Ti in PCT, but Ti-Fe alloys were observed to become more corrosive with increasing Fe content.
Metal hydride alloys of TiFe based system have been produced by mechanical alloying(MA) method and their electrochemical characteristics have been evaluated for application for Ni/MH battery electrode. These alloys became amorphous after 36hrs ball milling and easily activated electrochemically. All MA amorphous alloys reached at the first charge/discharge cycle the maximum capacity which was 2-3 times higher than the crystalline state. But their cyclic lives were much inferior to the crystalline state. Alloying elements such as Ni, Co, Cr, Mo substituting Fe greatly improved the capacity and 180 mAh/g capacity was obtained in an alloy of TiFe_{0.6}Ni_{0.1}Co_{0.1}Cr_{0.1}Mo_{0.1}$.
In order to elucidate thermal stability of Fe-$Fe_2Ti$ eutectic structure, the initial several structures have been investigated in the changes of coarsening and spheroidization during prolonged annealing under the eutectic temperature. The results are as follows: 1) The rate constant of coarsening and spheroidization was formulated as $S^{-n}-S_0^{-n}=k{\cdot}t$, where S is the total area of the interface between ${\alpha}$ and C($Fe_2Ti$) per unit volume, $S_0$ is initial value and k is the rate constant. 2) The coarsening and spheroidization mechanism was described by Ostwald ripening and controlled by diffusion of Ti-atom in ${\alpha}$-phase. 3) The spheroidization rate constant in eutectic lamellar structures was depended upon annealing temperature and showed the Arrhenius relation. The activation energy for spheroidization of lamellar structure was 365 kJ/mole.
Sr substituted materials for some barium in M-type barium ferrite powder and Co-Ti substituted Sr-Ba hexagonal ferrite powder were prepared by citrate sol-gel method and 2 MOE sol-gel method these hexaferrite particles were reduced for 1hr in the hydrogen gas. The reduction temperatures were varied in the range of 250 $^{\circ}C$ to 500 $^{\circ}C$. X-ray diffraction patterns were measured using diffractometer with Cu $K_{\Alhpa}$ radiation. Mossbauer absorption spectra were measured with a constant acceleration spectrometer. We have focused on studying the origin of increasing $M_s$ by M$\"{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy. Ferrite particles which were sintered at 105$0^{\circ}C$ were found to be typical magnetoplumbite structure and single phase. XRD patterns with varying the reduction temperatures in $Sr_{0.5}Ba_{0.5}Fe_{10}O_{19}$ indicates ferrites particles become composite hexaferrites containing $\alpha$-Fe at T_{red}=350 \;$^{\circ}C$$. On the otherhand, it was found that $Co^{2+}$ ions and $Ti^{4+}$ ions in $Sr_{0.7}Ba_{0.3}Fe_{10}CoTiO_{19}$ prevent from changing $Fe^{3+}$ ions to $\alpha$-Fe during the $H_2$ reduction. Comparing Mossbauer results with XRD results, we have determined most of $\alpha$-Fe are reduced from $4f_{vi}$ sites and 12k sites of $Fe^{3+}$ ions. These $\alpha$-Fe phase bring the induced anisotropy and increase saturation magnetization $M_s$.TEX>.

A $TiO_2$ nanofilm was deposited on ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ nanopowders using the atomic layer deposition method. The $TiO_2$ film was prepared at $300^{\circ}C$ using $Ti(N(CH_3)_2)_4$ and $H_2O$ as the precursor and reactant gas, respectively. The thickness and composition of the $TiO_2$ surface were characterized by TEM and EDS measurements. The TEM results showed that the growth rate of the film was about $0.12{\AA}/cycle$. The EDS and SAED analyses showed the presence of titanium oxide on the surface of the ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ nanopowders, confirming the deposition of the $TiO_2$ nanofilm. The Zeta potential and sedimentation test results showed that the dispersibility of the coated nanopowders was higher than that of the uncoated nanopowders. This is attributed to the electrostatic repulsion between the $TiO_2$-coated layers on the surface of the ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ nanopowders. The results revealed that the $TiO_2$-coated layers modified the surface characteristics of the ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ nanopowders and improved their dispersibility.
