기계적 합금화 공정으로 제조된 Fe-14Cr Ferritic 산화물 분산 강화(ODS) 합금 강의 고온 산화 거동 (High Temperature Oxidation Behavior of Fe-14Cr Ferritic Oxide Dispersion Strengthened Steels Manufactured by Mechanical Alloying Process)

  • This study investigates the oxidation properties of Fe-14Cr ferritic oxide-dispersion-strengthened (ODS) steel at various high temperatures (900, 1000, and $1100^{\circ}C$ for 24 h). The initial microstructure shows that no clear structural change occurs even under high-temperature heat treatment, and the average measured grain size is 0.4 and $1.1{\mu}m$ for the as-fabricated and heat-treated specimens, respectively. Y-Ti-O nanoclusters 10-50 nm in size are observed. High-temperature oxidation results show that the weight increases by 0.27 and $0.29mg/cm^2$ for the as-fabricated and heat-treated ($900^{\circ}C$) specimens, and by 0.47 and $0.50mg/cm^2$ for the as-fabricated and heat-treated ($1000^{\circ}C$) specimens, respectively. Further, after 24 h oxidation tests, the weight increases by 56.50 and $100.60mg/cm^2$ for the as-fabricated and heat-treated ($1100^{\circ}C$) specimens, respectively; the latter increase is approximately 100 times higher than that at $1000^{\circ}C$. Observation of the surface after the oxidation test shows that $Cr_2O_3$ is the main oxide on a specimen tested at $1000^{\circ}C$, whereas $Fe_2O_3$ and $Fe_3O_4$ phases also form on a specimen tested at $1100^{\circ}C$, where the weight increases rapidly. The high-temperature oxidation behavior of Fe-14Cr ODS steel is confirmed to be dominated by changes in the $Cr_2O_3$ layer and generation of Fe-based oxides through evaporation.

수열합성법에 의한 PZT 분말제조 : 출발물질과 기질의 교반이 분말특성에 미치는 영향 (Preparation of PZT Powders by Hydrothermal Synthesis : Effects of Starting Materials and the Agitation of Substrate on Powder Characteristics)

  • 본 연구에서는 출발물질을 변화시켜 입방체의 PZT(Lead Zirconate Titanate) 분말을 수열합성법으로 제조하였으며 합성된 분말을 이용하여 소결특성을 조사하였다. 출발물질에 관계없이 입방체 형태를 갖는 PZT 결정분말이 형성되었으나 $Pb(NO_3)_2$, $Ti(OC_4H_9)_4$$Zr(OC_4H_9)_4$을 출발물질로 사용한 경우 다른 여러 출발물질을 사용한 경우보다 상대적으로 작은 입자가 생성되었다. 수열합성시 교반을 시키면서 합성한 경우 교반없이 반응시킨 경우에 비해 핵생성을 위한 수열 반응온도가 낮아졌으며 상대적으로 입경이 큰 입자들의 수가 늘어났다. Zr대Ti의 조성비를 변화시켜 수열합성한 반응물을 XRD 분석한 결과, 조성비가 40대60인 경우 정방정상이 주상(major phase)으로 형성되었으며 조성비가 60대40인 경우에는 주상의 결정형이 능면체정상으로 바뀌었다. 여러 조건에서 합성된 PZT 분말을 PbO 분위기에서 소결시키면서 소결온도 및 소결시간 변화에 따른 소결밀도의 변화를 분컥하였으며, $1150^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 소결시켰을 때 최적의 소결밀도, $7.6g/cm^3$을 갖는 소결체가 제조되었다.

A proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) analysis of concentration of major/trace and toxic elements in broiler gizzard and flesh of Tehsil Gujar Khan area in Pakistan

  • Ten gizzard and three flesh samples of the broiler were collected from different locations in Tehsil Gujar Khan District Rawalpindi, Pakistan. The samples were dried, crushed and ground. Pellets were prepared by pressing the powder of the samples and that of the Bovine liver 1577c reference material obtained from NIST, USA. Proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) installed at National Center for Physics, Islamabad, Pakistan has been used as a reliable and improved technique to determine concentration of various major/trace and toxic elements e.g. S, Cl, K, Ca, Cl, Fe, Cu, Mn, Co, Zn, Ti, Cd, Ga, Cr, V and Ni, in the Gizzard and Flesh samples of the broiler. The concentrations of all the detected elements in the samples are statistically significant. The certified and measured values of the elements in the reference material were in agreement with each other within a deviation of 7%. S, Cl, K and Ca are within tolerable limits and are good for human consumption. Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn were more than the acceptable limits of World Health Organization, WHO whereas Ga, As, Sn, Sb and Pb are not detected in most of the samples.

입자 크기에 따른 미세구조를 가지는 압전 후막 특성 (Properties of Piezoelectric thick film with detailed structure following particle size)

  • 스크린 프린팅에 의한 압전 후막은 MEMS 공정을 이용하여 마이크로 펌프, 마이크로 벨브, 마이크로 센서, 마이크로 로봇 등 여러 초소형 기계부품에 응용되고 있으며, Sol-Gel, PLD를 이용해 증착된 막 등에 비해 수십${\mu}m$의 비교적 두꺼운 막을 형성시킬 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 그러나 실리콘 기판을 사용하여 스크린 프린팅으로 형성된 압전 후막의 경우, 공정상 바인더를 연소시키는 과정을 거치게 되므로, 밀집된(Dense) 구조를 가지는 막을 만들기가 어렵다. 이로 인해 스크린 프린팅에 의한 후막은 전기적 특성 및 기계적 특성이 떨어지는 경향이 있다. 본 연구에서는 스크린 프린팅에 의한 압전 후막의 밀집된 구조 및 특성을 향상시키기 위해 0.01Pb$(Mg_{1/2}W_{1/2})$O3-0.41Pb$(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-0.35PbTiO_3-0.23PbZrO_3$의 powder와 Attrition 밀링 처리된 powder를 비율별로 혼합하여 입자의 크기를 변화시켜 막의 충진 밀도를 향상시켰으며, 열처리 효과를 극대화시키기 위해 RTA(Rapidly Thermal Annealing)를 통해 열처리 하였다. Attrition 밀링에 의한 파우더를 각각 비율별로 100%, 50%, 25%로 혼합하여 만든 압전 세라믹 페이스트는 P-type(100)Si Wafer sample 위에 $1{\mu}m$의 하부전극용($1100^{\circ}C$) Ag 전극을 screen print하여 소결했다. 그리고 다시 전극이 형성된 Si wafer 위에 스크린 프린팅하고, 건조 한 후 RTA로 300초 동안 열처리 한 결과 밀집된 구조를 가지는 압전 후막을 제작 수 있었다.

팔라듐 합금 복합막 제조를 위한 Intermediate Layer 연구 (A Study on Intermediate Layer for Palladium-Based Alloy Composite Membrane Fabrication)

  • 팔라듐 합금 복합막의 제조는 니켈 분말과 무기화합물의 혼합물로 개질된 튜브형 다공성 스테인레스 스틸 지지체 표면 위에 무전해 도금법(elctroless plating technique)에 의해 팔라듐 - 니켈 - 은을 박막으로 도금하는 형태로 이루어졌다. 일반적인 다공성 금속 지지체는 기공이 크기 때문에 그 자체로서 도금에 적합한 지지층이 되기가 어렵고, 결함이 없는 팔라듐 복합막의 제조가 쉽지 않아 본 연구에서는 금속 지지체와 팔라듐 사이에 중간층(intermediate layer)을 형성하여 이와 같은 문제점을 극복하고자 하였다. 중간층의 소재인 실리카 졸, 알루미나 졸, 이산화티타늄 졸 등의 무기화합물과 니켈 분말의 혼합물로 다공성 금속 지지체 위에 코팅하여 박막을 형성하고 제조 조건에 따른 질소 투과도를 측정하고 비교하였다. SEM 분석법에 의해 니켈과 무기화합물 혼합물의 표면층의 형성 모습도 측정하였다. 제조된 중간층 가운데 이산화티타늄 졸과 니켈의 혼합물이 가장 낮은 질소 투과도와 치밀한 표면층을 나타내었다. 최종적으로 니켈과 실리카의 혼합 중간층으로 이루어진 팔라듐-니켈-은 합금 복합막을 제조하고 수소와 질소의 투과도를 측정하였다. 1기압 이하에서 질소에 대한 수소 선택도는 무한대였으며 수소투과 속도는 1 기압, $500^{\circ}C$에서 $1.39{\times}10^{-2}mol/m^2{\cdot}s$의 값을 나타냈다.

  • Bulk metallic glass (BMG)/crystalline composites comprising a copper based BMG alloy and crystalline nickel were produced by means of eloctroless plating of nickel on $Cu_{54}Zr_{22}Ti_{18}Ni_6$ BMG powder and subsequent consolidation using spark plasma sintering. The plastic deformation behavior of BMG/crystalline composites was examined by uniaxial compression test at various temperatures in the supercooled liquid region (SLR) of the BMG alloy. The evolution of strain states during uniaxial compression was tackled by microstructure observations. Deformation temperature played an important role in the deformation behavior of BMG/crystalline composites, which was attributed to a strong temperature dependence of the flow stress of the BMG alloy in the SLR. BMG/crystalline composites deformed homogenously in the temperature range where the flow stress of the BMG alloy was close to that of crystalline nickel. In contrast, inhomogeneous deformation was observed in the temperature range where the flow stress of the BMG alloy largely differs from that of crystalline nickel.

High-Luminous Efficiency Full-Color Emitting $GdVO_4$:Eu, Er, Tm Phosphor Thin Films

  • High-luminous efficiency full-color emissions in photoluminescence (PL) were obtained in $GdVO_4$ phosphor thin films co-doped with various amounts of Eu, Er and/or Tm and postannealed at approximately 1000$^{\circ}C$. The $GdVO_4$:Eu,Er,Tm phosphor thin films were deposited on thick $BaTiO_3$ ceramic sheets by r.f. magnetron sputtering using powder targets and postannealed in an air atmosphere. The rare earth (RE) content (RE/(Gd+V+RE) atomic ratio) in the oxide phosphor thin films was varied in the range from 0.1 to 2 at.%. It was found that the excitation of $GdVO_4$:Eu.Er,Tm thin films is attributed to band-to-band transition. A white PL emission was obtained in a $GdVO_4$:Eu,Er,Tm thin film with Eu, Er and Tm contents of 0.2, 0.7 and 1 at.%, respectively: CIE chromaticity color coordinates. (X=0.352 and Y=0.351). In addition, a white emission was obtained in a thin-film electroluminescent (TFEL) device made with this thin film.

Dielectric and Pyroelectric Properties of Dy-doped BSCT Thick Films by Screen-printing Method

  • $(Ba_{0.57}Sr_{0.33}Ca_{0.10})TiO_3$(=BSCT) powders, prepared by the sol-gel method, were doped using $MnCO_3$ as the acceptor and $Dy_2O_3$ as the donor. This powder was mixed with an organic vehicle. BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing techniques on the alumina substrate. The structural and dielectric properties of BSCT thick films were investigated with variation of the $Dy_2O_3$ amount. As a result of the differential thermal analysis (DTA), the exothermic peak was observed at around $670^{\circ}C$ due to the formation of the polycrystalline perovskite phase. All the BSCT thick films showed the XRD patterns of a typical polycrystalline perovskite structure. The average grain size of BSCT thick films decreased with an increasing amount of $Dy_2O_3$. The relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the BSCT thick film doped $Dy_2O_3$ 0.1mol% were 4637.4 and 1.6% at 1kHz, respectively.

  • ($Ba_{0.6-x}Sr_{0.4}Ca_x)TiO_3$ (BSCT) (x=0.10, 0.15, 0.20) powder, prepared by the sol-gel method, were mixed with organic vehicle and the BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing techniques on alumina substrates using the BSCT paste. The structural and the electrical properties were investigated for various composition ratio and sintering temperature. BSCT thick film thickness, obtained by four printings, was approximately 110 ~ 120 ${\mu}m$. The Curie temperature and dielectric constant at room temperature were decreased with increasing Ca content. The relative dielectric constant, dielectric loss and tunability of the BSCT(50/40/10) specimen, which was sintered at $1420^{\circ}C$ and measured at 1MHz, were about 910, 0.46% and 9.28% at 5kV/cm, respectively.

다결정 및 박막형 $Sr_2Nb_2O_7$의 입자배향과 전기적특성 (Grain Orientation and Electrical Properties of $Sr_2Nb_2O_7$ Ceramics and Thin Films)

  • Polycrystalline $Sr_2Nb_2O_7$ ceramics with very high Curie temperature were sintered using the powder derived by the chemical coprecipitation method (CCP). The phase evolution and grain-orientation of sintered samples were examined by XRD, while sintering behavior, dielectric properties and polarization were studied by SEM and ferroelectric tester. Extremely high degree of grain-orientation was observed along the (0k0) direction, which resulted in anisotropic dielectric properties of the sintered samples, with the dielectric constant values approaching those for single crystal. Thin film fabrication of $Sr_2Nb_2O_7$ in the pyroniobate family was also attempted on $SiO_2$/Si(100), Pt/$SiO_2$/Si(100), Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si(100) and Pt/$ZrO_2/SiO_2/Si_2(100)$ substrates, using metalorganic decomposition (MOD) process. Neodecanoate precursor solution was prepared by mixing strontium neodecanoate with niobium neodecanoate synthesized from niobium ethoxide. It was found that $Sr_2Nb_2O_7$ single phase appeared in XRD patterns the samples annealed above $950^{\circ}C$. The effect of substrate type on film microstructure and dielectric properties was observed.
