  • $(Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Ca_x)TiO_3 + yAl_2O_3$ wt% (x=0.10, 0.15, 0.20, y=0~3.0) ceramics were fabricated by the mixed-oxide method, and their structural and dielectric properties were investigated with variation of composition ratio and $Al_2O_3$ doping content. As results of the X-ray diffraction and microstructure analysis, all BSCT specimens showed dense and homogeneous structure without presence of the second phase. The sintered density was decreased with an increase of $Al_2O_3$ doping content. The Curie temperature and relative dielectric constant at room temperature were decreased with increasing $Al_2O_3$doping content. The dielectric loss is minimum at BSCT doped with 1.5wt% $Al_2O_3$content. The tunability was decreased with increasing an Ca content and the BSCT(50/40/10) specimen doped with 2.0wt% $Al_2O_3$content showed the maximum value of 4.2%.

Synthesis and Characterization of Ruthenium Doped TiO2 Nanofibers

  • Ruthenium(Ru)-doped $TiO_2$ nanofibers were prepared using electrospun Ru-$TiO_2$/poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) fibers and subsequent annealing for 1 h at temperatures in the range of $500^{\circ}C$ to $1000^{\circ}C$ in air. The properties of the Ru-$TiO_2$ fibers were characterized as a function of the Ru content and calcination temperature using X-ray diffraction, thermal gravimetry with differential scanning calorimetry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and viscometer, pycnometer and dynamic tensiometer measurements. Although the diameter of the fiber decreased slightly with increasing calcination temperature, no dramatic changes were observed with respect to the ruthenium content. The XRD and FT-IR results revealed that anatase phase and ruthenium metal began to be formed after calcination at temperatures above $500^{\circ}C$. Anatase and rutile phases and ruthenium metal coexisted in the fibers calcined above $600^{\circ}C$. No anatase phase was detected in the fibers containing ruthenium when they were calcined at $1000^{\circ}C$. The morphology of the fibers changed from smooth and uniform to porous with increasing temperature. The experimental results suggest that the calcination temperature and Ru content were influential in determining the morphology and structure of the fibers.

  • The effects of 0.15mol% Y2O3 doped semiconducting (Ba1-xPbx)TiO3 ceramics with 0.5 mol% Pb5Ge3O11 as sintering additives have been investigated as function of Pb contents (from 0.05 mol to 0.3 mol) and sintering temperatures (from 1050$^{\circ}C$ to 1200$^{\circ}C$). As the Pb content increases in the (Ba1-xPbx)TiO3 system, the size and resistance of the grain increase but the capacitance of the grain boundary decreases due to the formation of liquid phase during the sintering. And with increasing the sintering temperatures, the resistance of the grain decreases but the capacitance of the grain boundary increases. The PTCR effects decrease with increasing the Pb content and the sintering temperature.

  • Dielectric properties of $Ba_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}(Ti_{1-x}Sn_x)O_3$ were investigated from x=0 to 0.20, and temperature range -4$0^{\circ}C$~13$0^{\circ}C$ Density and grain size decreased with increasing Sn content due to grain growth inhibitor. Dielectric constant below the Curie temperature increased with increasing Sn content and dissipation factor dec reased. These results are due to grain size effect and internal stress. Curie temperature was shifted to lower temperature with increasing ratio of total polarizability to volume resulting from substitution of $Ba^{2+}$ ion with $Ca^{2+}$ ion $Ti^{4+}$ ion with $Sn^{4+}$ ion.

염소이온 함유된 용액에서 Ti합금의 부식특성에 미치는 Hafnium함량의 영향 (Effects of Hafnium Addition on the Pitting Corrosion Behavior of Ti Alloys in Electrolyte Containing Chloride Ion)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate effects of hafnium content on the corrosion behavior of Ti alloys in electrolyte containing chloride ion. For this study, Ti-Hf binary alloys contained 10 wt%, 20 wt% and 30 wt% Hf were manufactured in a vacuum arc-melting furnace and subjected to heat treatment for 12h at $1000^{\circ}C$ in an argon atmosphere. The pitting corrosion behavior of the specimens was examined through potentiodynamic and potentiostatic tests in 0.9 wt% NaCl electrolyte at $36.5{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. The corrosion morphology of Ti-xHf alloys was investigated using optical microscopy (OM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD). From the optical microstructures and XRD results, needle-like martensite ($\alpha$') phases of the Ti-xHf alloys increased with an increase of Hf addition. Corrosion current density $(I_{corr})$ and current density $(I_{300mV})$ in passive region decreased, whereas, corrosion potential increased with Hf content. At the constant potential ($300mV_{SCE}$), current density decreased as time increased.

Dy2O3-TiO2 산화물의 소결성 및 소결체 특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Sinterability and Pellet Properties of Dy2O3-TiO2 Oxides)

  • 산화물 제어봉 물질로서 $Dy_xTi_yO_z$ 소결체를 powder process에 의해 제조하였다. $Dy_2O_3+TiO_2$ 혼합분말의 소결성과 고용체의 상을 TMA와 XRD로써 각각 분석하였으며, 소결체의 비열과 열확산계수를 측정하여 열전도도를 구하였다. $Dy_xTi_yO_z$에서 Dy의 함량에 따라 소결성과 밀도가 변하였고 $3\;g\;Dy/cm^3\;Dy_xTi_yO_z$의 경우 $1580{\circ}C$의 소결온도에서 용융이 일어났다. $4.00\;g\;Dy/cm^3$ 소결체에는 $Dy_2TiO_5+Dy_2Ti_2O_7$의 두 상이 존재하며 $4.54\;g\;Dy/cm^3$의 경우 $Dy_2TiO_5$의 단일 상만이 존재하는 결과를 보였다. $Dy_xTi_yO_z$의 열전도도는 $25~600{\circ}C$ 범위에서 온도에 따라 큰 변화가 없으며 $1600{\circ}C$ 소결체가 1.69∼1.78 W/mK, 1550$^{\circ}C$ 소결체의 경우에는 1.49~1.55 W/mK이었다.

Electrochemical Characteristics of Nanotubular Ti-25Nb-xZr Ternary Alloys for Dental Implant Materials

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the electrochemical characteristics of nanotubular Ti-25Nb-xZr ternary alloys for dental implant materials. Materials and Methods: Ti-25Nb-xZr alloys with different Zr contents (0, 3, 7, and 15 wt.%) were manufactured using commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti), niobium (Nb), and zirconium (Zr) (99.95 wt.% purity). The alloys were prepared by arc melting in argon (Ar) atmosphere. The Ti-25Nb-xZr alloys were homogenized in Ar atmosphere at $1,000^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours followed by quenching into ice water. The microstructure of the Ti-25Nb-xZr alloys was examined by a field emission scanning electron microscope. The phases in the alloys were identified by an X-ray diffractometer. The chemical composition of the nanotube-formed surfaces was determined by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Self-organized $TiO_2$ was prepared by electrochemical oxidation of the samples in a $1.0M\;H_3PO_4+0.8wt.%$ NaF electrolyte. The anodization potential was 30 V and time was 1 hour by DC supplier. Surface wettability was evaluated for both the metallographically polished and nanotube-formed surfaces using a contact-angle goniometer. The corrosion properties of the specimens were investigated using a 0.9 wt.% aqueous solution of NaCl at $36^{\circ}C{\pm}5^{\circ}C$ using a potentiodynamic polarization test. Result: Needle-like structure of Ti-25Nb-xZr alloys was transform to equiaxed structure as Zr content increased. Nanotube formed on Ti-25Nb-xZr alloys show two sizes of nanotube structure. The diameters of the large tubes decreased and small tubes increased as Zr content increased. The lower contact angles for nanotube formed Ti-25NbxZr alloys surfaces showed compare to non-nanotube formed surface. The corrosion resistance of alloy increased as Zr content increased, and nanotube formed surface showed longer the passive regions compared to non-treatment surface. Conclusion: It is confirmed that corrosion resistance of alloy increased as Zr content increased, and nanotube formed surface has longer passive region compared to without treatment surface.

(Pb, Ba) (Zr, Ti)O3계의 확산된 상전이에 있어서 Strain Energy의 역할 (Role of the Strain Energy in Diffuse Phase Transition of (Pb, Ba)(Zr, Ti)O3)

  • The role of the strain energy and phase stability in the diffuse phase transition have been investigated in the highly disordered solid solution, (Pb1-xBax)(Zr0.4Ti0.6)O3 (0.2 x 0.4). X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that tetragonality (c/a) decreases with the increasing Ba content. Also as the Ba content increases, phase transition becomes more diffuse and at the same time dielectric relaxation as a function of measured frequencies in the 1KHz-10MHz range occurs very pronouncedly. In the Ba content range, 0.2 x 0.35, hysteresis loops are routinely observed and the loop is observed to narrow shape as the Ba content increases but becomes very slim at 40mol% Ba content. Moreover thermal analysis shows that there is no abrupt change in the thermal expansion coefficient below the apparent transition temperature at which dielectric constant becomes maximum. From the above results, it has been concluded that creation of the strain energy due to the distorthion that occurred during the phase transition suppresses diffuse phase transition.

  • To investigate the influence of r.f. power and electrode distance on the TiN deposition, TiN films were deposited onto STC3, STD11 steel and Si-wafer from gas mixtures of $TiC_4/N_2/H_2$ using the radio frequency plasma assisted chemical vapor deposition. The crystallinity of TiN film could be improved by the increase of r.f. power and the decrease of electrode distance. The TiN coated layer contains chlorine, its content were decreased with increasing r.f. power as well as decreasing electrode distance. And the thickness of deposited TiN was largely affected by r.f. power and electrode distance. The hardness of deposited TiN reached a maximum value of about Hv 2,000.

타이타늄 스크랩 활용 Ti3AlC2 MAX 상분율 향상을 위한 합성 조건 최적화 (Optimization of Synthesis Conditions for Improving Ti3AlC2 MAX Phase Using Titanium Scraps)

  • 2차원 물질 MXene의 전구체로 사용되는 Ti3AlC2 MAX 상 합성을 위해, 출발물질로써 타이타늄 (Ti) 스크랩을 활용하는 것은 경제적인 접근이 될 수 있다. 본 연구는 Ti 스크랩을 활용하여 Ti3AlC2 MAX상의 상분율 향상을 위한 합성 조건의 최적화를 수행하였다. Ti 스크랩으로부터 수소화-탈수소화(hydrogenation-dehydrogenation, HDH) 공정에 의해 제조된 Ti 분말의 산소 함량은 고상탈산(Deoxidation in solid state, DOSS) 공정을 통하여 효과적으로 감소되었다. 최적 합성 조건은 25 ~ 32 ㎛의 DOSS-Ti, Al, graphite 분말을 3:1.1:2의 몰 비율로 혼합하여 합성되었다. 이 때의 Ti3AlC2, TiC 및 Al3Ti의 상분율은 각각 97.25%, 0.93%, 1.82%로 나타났으며, 25 ~ 45 ㎛의 Ti3AlC2 MAX 분말의 산소 함량은 4,210 ppm으로 확인되었다.
