Zr계 라-베상 수소저장합금의 전기화학적 충·방전특성 (Electrochemical Charge and Discharge Characteristics of Zr-Based Laves Phase Hydrogen Storage Alloys)

  • To develop high capacity hydrogen storage alloys for secondary Ni/MH batteries, electrochemical charge/discharge characteristics of $Zr_{1-x}Ti_xMn_{1-y}V_yNi_{1-z}M_z$ (M=Al,Co,Fe) alloys were investigated, in which $0.2{\leq}x{\leq}0.6$, $0.2{\leq}y{\leq}0.8$, $0.2{\leq}z{\leq}0.4$. With increasing Ti content(x) and/or decreasing V content(y), lattice constants and maximum theoretical capacities of the alloys were decreased and equilibrium pressure of hydrogen absorption were increased. Electrochemical discharge capacities were increased with increasing Ti content(x). Especially, the alloys of x= 0.4~0.6 showed better charge/discharge efficiencies than those of x<0.4. Discharge capacities of $Zr_{0.4}Ti_{0.6}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}$, $Zr_{0.4}Ti_{0.6}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.8}Al_{0.2}$ and $Zr_{0.5}Ti_{0.5}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.6}Co_{0.4}$ were 385, 328 and 333mAh/g, respectively. These alloys were fully activated within five charge/discharge cycles and had a good charge and discharge rate capabilities and temperature characteristics.

  • Implant prototypes with various porosities were fabricated by electro-discharge-sintering of atomized spherical Ti-6Al-4V powders. Single pulse of 0.75 to 2.0 kJ/0.7 g-powder, using 150, 300, and $450{\mu}F$ capacitors was applied to produce a fully porous and porous surfaced implant compact. The solid core formed in the center of the compact after discharge was composed of acicular ${\alpha}+{\beta}$ grains and porous layer consisted of particles connected in three dimensions by necks. The solid core and neck sizes increased with an increase in input energy and capacitance. On the other hand, pore volume decreased with increased capacitance and input energy due to the formation of solid core. Capacitance and input energy are the only controllable discharge parameters even though the heat generated during a discharge is the unique parameter that determines the porosity of compact. It is known that electro-discharge-sintering of spherical Ti-6Al-4V powders can efficiently produce fully-porous and porous surfaced Ti-6Al-4V implants with various porosities in a short time less then 400 isec by manipulating the discharging condition such as input energy and capacitance including powder size.

Nanotubular Structure Formation on Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-Ta Alloy Surfaces by Electrochemical Methods

  • Nanotubular structure formation on the Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-Ta alloy surfaces by electrochemical methods has been studied using the anodizing method. A nanotube layer was formed on Ti alloys in 1.0 M $H_3PO_4$ electrolyte with small additions of $F^-$ ions. The nanotube nucleation and growth of the ${\alpha}$-phase and ${\beta}$-phase appeared differently, and showed different morphology for Cp-Ti, Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-Ta alloys. In the ${\alpha}$-phase of Cp-Ti and martensite ${\alpha}^{\prime}$ and in the ${\alpha}^{{\prime}{\prime}}$ and ${\beta}$-phase of the Ti-Ta alloy, the nanotube showed a clearly highly ordered $TiO_2$ layer. In the case of the Ti-Ta alloy, the pore size of the nanotube was smaller than that of the Cp-Ti due to the ${\beta}$-stabilizing Ta element. In the case of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy, the ${\alpha}$-phase showed a stable porous structure; the ${\beta}$-phase was dissolved entirely. The nanotube with two-size scale and high order showed itself on Ti-Ta alloys with increasing Ta content.

  • The effects of pressing temperatures on the formability and the microstructural evolution during equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) of lamellar Ti-6Al-4V alloy were investigated in this study. ECAP above isothermally 600$^{\circ}C$ was successful without producing any noticeable segments at the specimen surfaces after a single pass of pressing. After 4 passes of ECA pressing, lamellar microstructures were significantly refined revealing equiaxed grains of 0.3$\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter consisting of high angle grain boundaries. Also these ultrafine grains were relatively stable with little grain growth when annealed up to 600$^{\circ}C$ for 1hour.

  • The Titanium has many superior characteristics Which are specific strength, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, organism compatibility, non-magnetic and etc. and their quantity are abundant this study performed turning operation of Ti-6Al-4V alloy using the TiAlN Coate Tool which treated PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition). Experimental works are also executed to measure cutting force, chip figuration and surface roughness for different cutting conditions. As a result of study. Tool wear was serious at over 100m/min of cutting speed and cutting condition was excellent at 1.0mm of cutting depth.

Zr0.8Ti0.2Mn0.4V0.6Ni1-xFex 합금 전극의 전기화학적 특성 (Electrochemical Properties of Zr0.8Ti0.2Mn0.4V0.6Ni1-xFex Alloy Electrodes)

  • A series of multicomponent $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{1-x}Fe_{x}$ (x=0.00, 0.08, 0.15, 0.22, and 0.30) alloys are prepared and their oystal structure and P-C-T curves are examined. The electrochemical properties of these allqys such as activation conditions, discharge capacity, cycling performance are also investigated. $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{1-x}Fe_{x}$ (x=0.00, 0.08, 0.15, 0.22 and 0.30) have the C14 Laves phase hexagonal structure. The electrode was activated by the hot-charging treatment. The best activation conditions were the current density 120 mA/g and the hot-charging time 12h at $80^{\circ}C$ in the case of the alloy with x=0.00. The discharge capacity increased rapidly until the fourth cycle and then decreased. The discharge capacity increased again from the 13th cycle, arriving at 234 mAh/g at the 50th cycle. The discharge capacily just after activation decreases with the increase in the amount of the substituted Fe but the cycling performance is improved. The discharge capacity after activation of the alloy with x=0.00 is 157 mAh/g at the current density 120 mA/g. $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.85}Fe_{0.15}$ is a good composition with a medium quantity of discharge capacities and a good cycling performance. The ICP analysis of the electrolyte for these electrodes after 50 charge-discharge cycles shows that the concentrations of V and Zr are relatively high. Another series of multicomponent $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.85}M_{0.15}$ (M = Fe, Co, Cu, Mo and Al) alloys are prepared. They also have the C14 Laves phase hexagonal structure. The alloys with M = Co and Fe have relatively larger hydrogen storage capacities. The discharge capacities just after activation are relatively large in the case of the alloys with M = Al and Cu. They are 212 and 170 mAh/g, respectivety, at the current density 120mA/g. The $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.85}Co_{0.15}$ alloy is the best one with a relatively large discharge capacity and a good cycling performance.

  • Ti-6Al-4V 티타늄 합금은 무게 대비 우수한 강도와 고온 강도 특성 때문에 수요가 증가하고 있지만 상온에서 낮은 성형성 때문에 고온으로 성형을 해야 한다. 현재 진행된 고온 성형 연구는 하부 금형을 가열하여 시편을 가열하는 방식이기 때문에 제약이 많다. 기존 고온 성형 방식과 다르게 제품을 국부적으로 가열할 수 있는 고주파 유도가열을 적용한다면 가공의 효율성을 높일 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 또한 공정 기술 개발 시 신뢰도 높은 해석 기법으로 미리 공정을 시뮬레이션한다면 시간과 비용을 절약할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 고주파 유도가열을 이용하여 Ti-6Al-4V 합금을 가열하였고 실험 결과와 전자기-열전달 연동 해석 결과를 비교하여 해석의 신뢰도를 판단하였다.

Cutting depth influences on the cutting force much more than the feed rate and the value of the cutting force is the most stable at the depth of 1.0mm. 질소산화물 제거를 위한 디스크형 바나디아 촉매담지 세라믹필터의 특성 (Characteristics of Disc-Type V2O5 Catalyst Impregnated Ceramic Filters for NOx Removal)

  • The performance of disk-type catalytic filters impregnated by TiO$_2$ or TiO$_2$-3Al$_2$O$_3$ㆍ 2SiO$_2$ supports and V$_2$O$_{5}$ catalyst was evaluated for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with ammonia as a reductant. XRD, FT -IR, BET and SEM were used to characterize the catalytic filters prepared in this work. Optimal V$_2$O$_{5}$ loading and reaction temperature for V$_2$O$_{5}$/TiO$_2$ catalytic filters were 3-6 wt.% and 350-40$0^{\circ}C$ at GHSV 14,300 $hr^{-1}$ in the presence of oxygen, respectively. With increasing the V$_2$O$_{5}$ loading from 0.5 to 6 wt%, NO conversion increased from 24 to 96% at 40$0^{\circ}C$ and 14.300$hr^{-1}$, and maintained at 80% over in the V$_2$O$_{5}$ loading range of 3-6 wt.% and then dropped at V$_2$O$_{5}$ loading of 7wt.% over. In comparing V$_2$O$_{5}$/ TiO$_2$ and V$_2$O$_{5}$/ TiO$_2$-3Al$_2$O$_3$ㆍ2SiO$_2$ catalytic fillers, which have same 3wt.% V$_2$O$_{5}$ loading, the V$_2$O$_{5}$/ TiO$_2$-3A1$_2$O$_3$ㆍ2SiO$_2$ catalytic filter showed higher activity than V$_2$O$_{5}$/ TiO$_2$ catalytic filter, but higher differential pressure drops owing to its low air permeability. low air permeability.

Ti-6Al-4V 재의 UNSM 처리에 의한 피로특성변화 - 회전굽힘 피로시험과 축하중 인장압축 피로시험 비교 - (Variation of Fatigue Properties in Nanoskinned Ti-6Al-4V - Rotating Bending and Axial Loading Tension-Compression Cycle -)

  • Ti-6Al-4V 재에 다양한 표면처리방법을 통하여 나노스킨화된 피로시험편을 제작하고 회전굽힘피로 시험과 축하중 인장압축피로시험을 수행하였다. 특히 S-N 곡선에서 초음파나노표면개질(UNSM)법은 국내특허기술로 다른 처리법들보다 우수한 결과를 보였고, UNSM 처리된 직경 5 mm 재는 6 mm 티타늄재를 대치 가능할 성능을 얻었다. UNSM 처리된 $10^6$ 사이클 이상의 장수명영역에서 피로강도가 크게 향상되는 시험결과를 얻었다. 균열발생 패턴의 분석을 통하여 Ti-6Al-4V 재는 응력의 작용형태에 따라 표면균열발생형(surface originating crack type)과 내부균열발생형(interior originating crack type)인 어안균열(fish eye crack)이 발생하는 메커니즘을 분석하였다.
