RF Integrated Electromagnetic-Noise Filters Incorporated with Nano-granular Co41Fe38AI13O8 Soft Magnetic Thin Films on Coplanar Transmission Line

  • The RF integrated noise filters are fabricated by photolithography. The stack for the electromagnetic noise filters consists of the nano-granular ($Co_{41}Fe_{38}AI_{13}O_8$) soft magnetic film / $SiO_2$ / Cu transmission line / seed layer (Cu/Ti) / $SiO_2$-substrate. A good signal-attenuation feature along with a low signal-reflection feature is observed in the present filters. Especially in the noise filter incorporated with a $Co_{41}Fe_{38}AI_{13}O_8$ magnetic film with lateral dimensions of $2000{\mu}m$ wide, 15 mm long and $1{\mu}m$ thick, the maximum magnitude of signal attenuation reaches -55 dB, and the magnitude of signal reflection is below -10 dB in the overall frequency range. And this level of signal attenuation is much larger than that of a noise filter incorporated with a Fe magnetic film.

Solution-processible corrugated structure and scattering layer for enhanced light extraction from organic light-emitting diodes

  • A simple method of fabricating out-coupling structures was demonstrated via solution-processing to enhance light extraction from organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Scattering layers were easily obtained by spin-coating an $SiO_2$ sol solution that contained $TiO_2$ particles. By introducing the scattering layer and the solution-processible corrugated structure as internal and external extraction layers, the OLEDs showed increased external quantum efficiency without a change in the electroluminescence spectrum compared to conventional devices. Using these solution-processible out-coupling structures, nearly all-solution-processed OLEDs with enhanced light extraction could be fabricated. The light extraction enhancement is attributed to the suppression by the out-coupling structures of the light-trapping that arose at the interface of the glass substrate and the air.

마이크로웨이브 플라즈마 화학기상증착법에 의한 탄소나노튜브의 성장특성 (Growth of Carbon Nanotubes by Microwave Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition)

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were grown with a microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (MPECVD) method, which has been regarded as one of the most promising candidates for the synthesis of CNTs due to the vertical alignment, the low temperature and the large area growth. MPECVD used methane ($CH_4$) and hydrogen ($H_2$) gas for the growth of CNTs. 10 nm thick Ni catalytic layer were deposited on the Ti coated Si substrate by RF magnetron sputtering method. In this work, the pretreatment was that the Ni catalytic layer in different microwave power (600, 700, and 800 W). After that, CNTs deposited on different pressures (8, 12, 16, and 24 Torr) and grown same microwave power (800 W). SEM (Scanning electron microscopy) images showed Ni catalytic layer diameter and density variations were dependent with their pretreatment conditions. Raman spectroscopy of CNTs shows that $I_D/I_G$ ratios and G-peak positions vary with pretreatment conditions.

  • In this thesis, Josephson junction using high-Tc superconducting multi-layer thin film has been fabricated by on-axis RF magnetron sputtering method. And, the characterizations were performed by X-ray diffraction, SEM and the measuring system of critical current density. The physical properties of multi-layer superconducting thin films were also analyzed with the measured results. To fabricate the multi-layer superconducting thin films, the optimum partial pressure of Argon and Oxgen and the temperature of substrate were measured. Also, YBaCuO thin film was grown on MgO and $SrTiO_3$ substrates by rf-sputtering and LGO thin film of 30 A was epitaxially grown on the YBaCuO thin film as a josephson junction with the same condition. The schottky barrier at the contact surface between YBaCuO/LGO and YBaCuO/Au and the energy gap of 0.5 ${\sim}$ 0.6 mV in Nb were observed from the dI/dV-V of YBaCuO/LGO/Au/Nb and YBaCuO/Au/Nb.

  • Polycrystalline $Sr_2Nb_2O_7$ ceramics with very high Curie temperature were sintered using the powder derived by the chemical coprecipitation method (CCP). The phase evolution and grain-orientation of sintered samples were examined by XRD, while sintering behavior, dielectric properties and polarization were studied by SEM and ferroelectric tester. Extremely high degree of grain-orientation was observed along the (0k0) direction, which resulted in anisotropic dielectric properties of the sintered samples, with the dielectric constant values approaching those for single crystal. Thin film fabrication of $Sr_2Nb_2O_7$ in the pyroniobate family was also attempted on $SiO_2$/Si(100), Pt/$SiO_2$/Si(100), Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si(100) and Pt/$ZrO_2/SiO_2/Si_2(100)$ substrates, using metalorganic decomposition (MOD) process. Neodecanoate precursor solution was prepared by mixing strontium neodecanoate with niobium neodecanoate synthesized from niobium ethoxide. It was found that $Sr_2Nb_2O_7$ single phase appeared in XRD patterns the samples annealed above $950^{\circ}C$. The effect of substrate type on film microstructure and dielectric properties was observed.

PREFERRED ORIENTATION OF TIN FILM STUDIED BT A REAL TIME SYNCHROTRON X-RAY SCATTERING

  • The orientational cross-over phenomena in an RF sputtering growth of TiN films were studied in an in-situ, real-time synchrotron x-ray scattering experiment. For the films grown with pure Ar sputtering gas, the cross-over from the more strained (002)-oriented grains to the less strained (111)-oriented grains occurred as the film thickness was increased. As the sputtering power was increased, the cross-over thickness, at which the growth orientation changes from the <002> to the <111> direction, was decreased. The addition of $N_2$ besides Ar as sputtering gas suppressed the cross-over, and consequently resulted in the (002) preferred orientation without exhibiting the cross-over. We attribute the observed cross-over phenomena to the competition between the surface and the strain energy. The x-ray powder diffraction, the x-ray reflectivity, and the ex-situ AFM surface topology study consistently suggest that the microscopic growth front was in fact always the (002) planes. In the initial stage of growth, the (002) planes were aligned to the substrate surface to minimize the surface energy. At later stages, however, the (002) growth front tilted away from the surface by about $60^{\circ}$ to relax the strain, which caused the cross-over of the preferred growth direction to the <111> direction.

THIN FILM TECHNOLOGIES RELATED TO THE HIGH T$_{c}$ SUPERCONDUCTORS

  • Thin film technologies for fabricating SQUIDs involve etching and deposition procedures with the proper substrate materials and $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-d}$ (YBCO) as the high $T_c$ superconductor. YBCO were prepared on various substrates of MgO, $SrTiO_3$, and $LaAlO_3$ by using off-axis magnetron sputtering methods and annealing in-situ. The parameters of film fabrication processes had been optimized to yield good quality films in terms of the critical temperature $T_c$ and the critical current density $J_c$. The optimized processes yielded $T_C$>90K along with $J_c$>$10_6A$$extrm{cm}^2$ at 77K and>$2\times10_7A/Cm^2$ at 5K. We fabricated step-edge type dc-SQUIDs and directly coupled magnetometers, producing step edges on MgO(100) substrates by etching with Ar-ion beam, depositing YBCO material on them, then patterning them by using ion-milling technique. Circuitizing washer-shape SQUIDs to possess a pair of step-edge junctions of 2-5$\mu$ line width with a high angle>$50^{\circ}C$ , we examined their I-V characteristics thoroughly and Shapiro steps clearly as we irradiate microwaves of 8-20 GHz frequency.

Si 기판에 제작된 AAO 박막의 기공 형성 최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study of Pore Formation of AAO Film on Si Substrate with Optimizing Process)

  • AAO films were fabricated on two kinds of substrates such as $Al/SiO_2/Si$ and Al/Ni/Ti/Si. To obtain well-aligned AAO film, we optimized process condition for buffer layer, electrolyte and voltage. In the case of oxalic acid, the AAO film with pore size of approximately 45 nm was obtained at voltage of 40 V, temperature of $10^{\circ}C$, oxalic acid of 0.3 M and widening time of 60 min. Then the thickness of barrier is less than 600 nm. In the case of sulfuric acid, the AAO film has pore size of 40 nm and barrier thickness of 400 nm with optimum conditions such as voltage of 25 V, temperature of $8^{\circ}C$, sulfuric acid of 0.3 M and widening time of 60 min.

  • 최근 전자기기의 경박단소화 추세는 전자기기의 크기와 가격의 감소를 이끌었으며 이러한 추세는 앞으로 지속될 것이다. 이와 같은 현상으로 전자기기를 구성하는 요소의 절반이상을 차지하는 단위수동소자의 경우 소형화를 넘어 박막화 및 집적화가 절실히 요구되는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현재 GHz 대역의 휴대용 무선통신 송 수신부 등에 사용되고 있는 기판이 $Al_2O_3$ 기판인 점을 고려하여 기판의 공통화를 위해 $Al_2O_3$ 기판 위에 Ta/$Ta_2O_5$/Ta 구조를 갖는 MIM 박막커패시터를 제작하여 그 특성을 고찰하였다. 모든 박막의 증착은 RF-magnetron reactive sputtering법에 의해 이루어졌으며, 유전체 열처리는 $700^{\circ}C$ 진공상태에서 60 sec 동안 수행하였다. XRD 분석결과, as-deposited $Ta_2O_5$ 박막은 열처리 후에 비정질상에서 결정질상으로 변환되었다. Ta/$Ta_2O_5$/Ta/Ti/$Al_2O_3$ 커패시터의 전기적 특성으로는 C-F, C-V, I-V 를 측정하였다.

Pt 하부전극 후열처리 온도에 따른 SBT 박막의 전기적 특성평가 (The electrical properties of SBT thin films according to various post-annealing of Pt bottom electrode)

  • Ferroelectric SBT($SrBi_2Ta_2O_9$) thin films were deposited on Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrate using R.F. magnetron sputtering method. The ferroelectric and electric characteristics were investigated with various post-annealing of Pt at $200{\sim}600^{\circ}C$. Compared with SBT thin film which had not post-annealed, the electrical properties and crystallizations of the SBT thin films were relatively improved by the post-annealing of Pt bottom electrode. The crystallization were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The electrical properties characteristics were observed by HP 4192A and precision LC.
