A bulk amorphous NiTiZrSiSn powder produced using an inert gas atomization was sprayed by kinetic spraying process that is basically a solid-state deposition process onto a mild steel substrate. They were successfully overlaid onto the mild steel substrate. In order to evaluate the tribological behavior of the kinetic sprayed NiTiZrSiSn BMG (Bulk Metallic Glass) coatings, a partially crystallized coating and a fully crystallized coating were prepared by the isothermal heat treatments. Tribological behaviors were investigated in view of friction coefficient, hardness and amorphous phase fraction of coating layer. Surface morphologies and depth in the wear tracks were observed and measured by scanning electron microscope and alpha-step. From the examination of the scratch wear track microstructure, transition from the ductile like deformation (micro cutting) to the brittle deformation (micro fracturing) in the scratch groove was observed with the increase of the crystallinity.
The ${\beta}-SiC+TiB_2$ ceramic electroconductive composites were pressureless-sintered and annealed by adding 12wt% $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$(6 : 4wt%) powder as a function of sintering temperature. The relative density is over 78.83% of the theoretical density and increased with increasing sintering temperature. The phase analysis of the composites by XRD revealed of $\alpha$-SiC(6H), $TiB_2$, $Al_5Y_2O_{12}$ and $\beta$-SiC(15R). Flexural strength showed the highest of 140 MPa for composites sintered at $1900^{\circ}C$. The vicker's hardness increased with increasing sintering temperature and showed the highest of 4.07 GPa at $1900^{\circ}C$. Owing to YAG, the fracture toughness showed the highest of 4.07 $MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$ for composites at $1900^{\circ}C$. The electrical resistivity was measured by the Pauw method from $25^{\circ}C$ to $700^{\circ}C$. The electrical resistivity of the composites showed the PTCR(Positive Temperature Coefficient Resistivity).
Molybdenum (Mo), an electrode material of alkali metal thermal-to-electric converters (AMTEC), facilitates grain growth behavior and forms Mo-Na-O compounds at high operating temperatures, resulting in reduced performance and shortened lifetime of the cell. Mo/TiN composite materials have been developed to provide a solution for such issues. Mo is a metal that possesses excellent electrical properties, and TiN is a ceramic compound with high-temperature durability and catalytic activity. In this study, a dip-coating process with an organic solvent-based slurry was used as an optimal coating method to achieve homogeneity and stability of the electrodes. Cell performance was evaluated under various conditions such as the number of coatings, ranging from 1 to 3 times, and heat treatment temperatures of $800-1100^{\circ}C$. The results confirmed that the cell yielded a maximum power of 9.99 W for the sample coated 3 times and heat-treated at $900^{\circ}C$.
$Al_2O_3-TiO_2$(AT)ceramics shows great promise as a dielectric material for millimeter-wave use. The sintering temperature of AT ceramics was approximately $1450^{\circ}C$ and decreased to $900^{\circ}C$ with the addition of BaCu(B2O5) (BCB) ceramic powder. The presence, of the liquid phase was responsible for the decrease of the sintering temperature. The liquid phase is considered to have a composition similar to the BaO-deficient BCB. The Q-value initially increased with the addition of BCB, but decreased considerably when a large amount of BCB was added, because of the presence of the liquid phase. Good microwave dielectric properties of $Q{\times}f\;=\;16,200\;GHz$, ${\varepsilon}_r\;=\;9$ and ${\tau}_f\;=\;-4\;ppm/^{\circ}C$ were obtained for the 20.0 mol% BCB-added AT ceramics sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ for 2 h.
(BaSr)$TiO_3$ (BST) thick films were prepared by tape casting method, using $BaTiO_3$ and $SrTiO_3$ powder slurry and their dielectric properties were investigated. With an additive, $Li_2CO_3$, the sintering temperature was lowered by $200^{\circ}C$. Sintering density was 5.7 g/$cm^3$ and the BST thick films exhibited a maximum dielectric constant, tunability at temperatures near phase transition point. Whilst their characteristics were deteriorated above the phase transition temperature, they were unchanged below the phase transition temperature, which is presumedly due to the acceleration of $90^{\circ}$ domain formation, its contribution to the relaxation of internal stress and the increase in sintering according to the replacement of Li.
We investigated the experimental method that uses the homogeneous precipitation method to prepare mica flakes-coated rutile-type titania pearlescent pigment with urea as a precipitant. $TiO_2$ particles exhibit a high reflection of lights and optical properties with chemical stabilities, so they are appropriate for coating on luminescent pigments (mica). The coating principle of mi ca coated titania with various thicknesses was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and tested by spectrophotometer. Mica with a particle size in the range of $40-60{\mu}m$ was suspended in water, and metal sulphates and urea were added to the mixture, which was heated to boiling. The change in pH was continuously followed. The metal oxide and crystal structure were affected by the conditions of $TiOSO_4$ concentration and reaction time with a sintering temperature the range of $800-1100^{\circ}C$.
The electrochemical corrosion behaviors of 304 stainless steels (STSs) with various coatings (organic coating and dry coating) were examined, and their applicability as bipolar plates in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) was validated. The results showed that the organic-coated samples had a significant decrease in anodic and cathodic current density compared to the uncoated sample. However, an increase in carbon black content in the organic coating or additional heat treatment at 700 ℃ resulted in a decrease in corrosion resistance. In addition, improvements in corrosion resistance achieved by adding TiO2 powder to the organic coating were found to be limited. In contrast, dry coating with TiC and CrC exhibited higher corrosion potential, significantly lower current density, and reduced contact resistance compared to the organic coatings. Notably, the TiC-coated sample showed a comparatively lower current density and more stable behavior than the CrC-coated sample. Based on a series of experimental results, a thin TiC coating without defects is proposed as a promising surface treatment strategy for STS bipolar plates in PEMFC.

New complex perovskite compounds (Na0.5Sr0.5)(Ti0.5Nb0.5)O3, (Na0.5Sr0.5)(Zr0.5Ti0.5)O3 and (Na0.5Sr0.5)(Ti0.5Ta0.5)O3 have been prepared. The crystal structures of these compounds were determined by powder X-ray Rietveld analysis. The crystal structure of (Na0.5Sr0.5)(Ti0.5Nb0.5)O3 and (Na0.5Sr0.5)(Zr0.5Ta0.5)O3 was Pmmn, and that of (Na0.5Sr0.5)(Ti0.5Nb0.5)O3 was I4/mmm. All these compounds showed the superstructure due to the oxygen octahedron distortion. The selected bond distances and bond angles were calculated by the OFFER. The octahedron distortion for each sample, which was measured from the bond distances and bond angles, showed the following order: (Na0.5Sr0.5)(Z0.5Ta0.5)O3> (Na0.5Sr0.5)(Ti0.5Nb0.5)O3 > (Na0.5Sr0.5)(Ti0.5Ta0.5)O3. Dielectric properties were measured for the samples. In this study, the crystal structure and dielectric properties of the new complex perovskite structures and discussed.
The reaction bonded alumina ceramics with reinforced particles which have low shrinkage were pro-duced by blending of SiC or TiC or ZrO2 powders to the mixture of Al metal and Al2O3 powder. The powd-ers were attrition milled isostantically pressed and preheated tio 110$0^{\circ}C$ with a heating rate of $1.5^{\circ}C$/min The specimens were then sintered at the temperature range 1500 to 1$600^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours with a heating rate of 5$^{\circ}C$/min. The specimens showed 5-9% weight gain and 2-9% dimensional expansion through the complete oxidation of Al after preheating up to 11--$^{\circ}C$ the overall dimensional change of the specimens after the reaction sintering at 1500-1$600^{\circ}C$ was 6-12% The maximum densities were 92% theoretical. The fine grain-ed(average grain size :0.4 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) microstructure were observed in the specimen with ZrO2 and SiC. But the microstructure of specimen with TiC was relatively coarse.(average grain size : 2.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) The mullite phase was formed by the reaction of Al2O3 and SiO2 in a specimen with SiC. In the TiC contained specimen TiC was oxidized into TiO2 and finally reacted with Al2O3 to form Al2TiO5 during sintering.
