Effect of TiO2 buffer layer on the electrical and optical properties of IGZO/TiO2 bi-layered films

  • In and Ga doped ZnO (IGZO) thin films were prepared by radio frequency magnetron sputtering without intentional substrate heating on glass substrate and TiO2-deposited glass substrates to consider the effect of a thin TiO2 buffer layer on the optical and electrical properties of the films. The thicknesses of the TiO2 buffer layer and IGZO films were kept constant at 5 and 100 nm, respectively. Since the IGZO/TiO2 bi-layered films show the higher FOM value than that of the IGZO single layer films, it is supposed that the IGZO/TiO2 bi-layered films will likely perform better in TCO applications than IGZO single layer films.

ITO 투과율 향상을 위한 Buffer층 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Buffer Layer Design for Transmittance Improvement of Indium Tin Oxide)

  • We have proposed an Buffer layer to improve the transmittance of ITO. Here, $SiO_2$ and $TiO_2$ were selected as the Buffer layer coating material. The structures of Buffer layer were designed in ITO/$SiO_2/TiO_2$/Glass and ITO/Glass/$TiO_2/SiO_2$. Then, these materials were deposited by ion-assisted deposition system. Transmittances of deposited ITO were 86.14 and 85.07%, respectively. These results show that the proposed structure has higher transmittance than the conventional ITO device.

스퍼터링으로 제조한 새로운 완충막 위의 PZT 박막 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristic of PZT Thin Film Deposited on New Buffer Layer by Sputtering)

  • TiN/Ti is the best buffer layer between PZT thin film and si substrate among the Ti, TiN, ZrN, TiN/Ti, ZrN/Ti. The amorphous PZT films deposited on TiN/Ti buffer layer directly transform into perovskite phase when rapid thermal annealed for 30sec above 55$0^{\circ}C$. As Rapid Thermal Annealing(RTA) temperature increased, the remanent polarization(Pr) and dielectric constant($\varepsilon$r) increased and then showed Pr=21 $\varepsilon$r=593 when rapid thermal annealed 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 30sec. On the contrary the leakage current increased with increasing RTA temperature due to the formation of void made by Pb evaporationand grain cohesion.

$CeO_{2}/BaTiO_{3}$ 이중완충막을 이용한 YBCO 박막 제작 (Fabrication of YBCO superconducting film with $CeO_{2}/BaTiO_{3}$double buffer layer)

  • We have fabricated good quality superconducting YBa$_2$Cu$_3$$O_{7-x}$(YBCO) thin films on Hastelloy(Ni-Cr-Mo alloys) metallic substrates with CeO$_2$and BaTiO$_3$buffer layers in-situ by pulsed laser deposition in a multi-target processing chamber. YBCO film with CeO$_2$ single buffer layer shows T$_{c}$ of 71.64 K and the grain size less than 0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. When BaTiO$_3$is used as a single buffer layer, the grain size of YBCO is observed to be larger than that of YBCO/CeO$_2$by 200 times and the transition temperature of the film is enhanced to be about 84 K. CeO$_2$/BaTiO$_3$double buffer layer has been adopted to enhance the superconducting properties, which results in the enhancement of the critical temperature and the critical current density to be about 85 K and 8.4 $\times$ 10$^4$ A/cm$^2$ at 77 K, respectively mainly due to the enlargement of the grain size of YBCO film.ilm.

  • The $TiO_2/Si_3N_4/Ag/Si_3N_4/TiO_2$ multi layered structure was designed for the possible application of transparent electrodes in PDP (Plasma Display Panel). Multi layered film was deposited on a glass substrate at room temperature by DC/RF magnetron sputtering system and EMP (Essential Macleod Program) was adopted to optimize the optical characteristics of film. During the deposition process, the Ag layer in $TiO_2/Ag/TiO_2$ became heavily oxidized and the filter characteristic was degraded easily. In thus study, Si3N4 layer was used as a diffusion buffer layer between $TiO_2$ and Ag. in order to prevent the oxidation of Ag layer in $TiO_2/Si_3N_4/Ag/Si_3N_4/TiO_2$ structure. It was confirmed that $Si_3N_4$ layer is one of candidate materials acting as diffusin barrier between $TiO_2/Ag/TiO_2$.

Efficiency Enhancement of Organic Light Emitting Diode Using $TiO_2$ Buffer Layer

  • We have studied the effect of $TiO_2$ layer deposited by RF magnetron sputtering which is used as an ultra thin hole-injection buffer layer in organic light-emitting diode (OLED). The $TiO_2$ thin film layer prevents metallic ions from diffusing from the ITO layer to the organic layers and improves the balance of hole and electron injections and the interface characteristics between the electrode and the organic layer. With 2 nm thickness of $TiO_2$, the quantum efficiency was improved by 45 % compared to the device fabricated without the $TiO_2$ layer.

  • We investigated the structural and electrical properties of BLT films grown on Si covered with $ZrO_{2}$ buffer layer. The BLT thin film and $ZrO_{2}$ buffer layer were fabricated using a metalorganic decomposition method. The electrical properties of the MFIS structure were investigated by varying thickness of the $ZrO_{2}$ layer. AES and TEM show no interdiffusion and reaction that suppressed using the $ZrO_{2}$ film as a buffer layer The width of the memory window in the C-V curves for the MFIS structure decreased with increasing thickness of the $ZrO_{2}$ layer. It is considered that the memory window width of MFIS is not affected by remanent polarization. Leakage current density decreased by about four orders of magnitude after using $ZrO_{2}$ buffer layer. The results show that the $ZrO_{2}$ buffer layers are prospective candidates for applications in MFIS-FET memory devices.

  • Significant process in the performance and commercialization of full-color thin-film electroluminescent(EL) displays has been achieved. This is due to the remarkable progress made in the performance of exiting EL phosphors, development of new phosphor materials, and design of new EL phosphor structures. In this paper, we fabricated thinfilm EL devices with ZnS buffer and $BaTiO_3$ electric layer with on top and bottom of phosphor layer. The effect of ZnS and $BaTiO_3$ layer on the luminance of EL device were studied.

PZT 박막제조시 하부전극과 buffer층에 따른 박막특성에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of PZT thin films with varying the bottom-electrodes and buffer layer)

  • 본연구에서는 금속타겟을 이용한 반응성 스퍼터링법을 이용하여 PZT 박막의 전극 및 계면 특성의 개선을 위해, $Pt/SiO_{2}/Si$$Ir/SiO_{2}/Si$기판을 각각 사용하였으며, buffer layer로는 $PbTiO_{3}$을 이용하였다. Pt하부전극을 이용하여 PZT 박막제조시 randomly oriented PZT 박막이 얻어졌으나, buffer layer를 이용한 경우 (100)으로 배향된 결정성이 좋은 PZT 박막을 얻을 수 있었다. Ir하부전극을 이용한 경우, buffer layer증착에 따른 PZT 박막의 상형성이 다소 증진되었으며, Pt하부전극의 경우에 비해 잔류분극의 증가와 항전계의 감소를 관찰할 수 있었다. PZT 박막제조시 buffer layer의 이용에 따라 유전율이 증가함을 알 수 있었으며, 또한 Ir하부전극의 경우가 Pt하부전극의 경우보다 더 좋은 유전특성이 얻어졌다.
