Modelling of Optimum Design of High Vacuum System for Plasma Process

  • Electronic devices used in the mobile environments fabricated under the plasma conditions in high vacuum system. Especially for the development of advanced electronic devices, high quality plasma as the process conditions are required. For this purpose, the variable conductance throttle valves for controllable plasma employed to the high vacuum system. In this study, we analyzed the effects of throttle valve applications on vacuum characteristics simulated to obtain the optimum design modelling for plasma conditions of high vacuum system. We used commercial simulator of vacuum system, VacSim(multi) on this study. Reliability of simulator verified by simulation of the commercially available models of high vacuum system. Simulated vacuum characteristics of the proposed modelling agreed with the observed experimental behaviour of real systems. Pressure limit valve and normally on-off control valve schematized as the modelling of throttle valve for the constant process-pressure of below 10-3 torr. Simulation results plotted as pump down curve of chamber, variable valve conductance and conductance logic of throttle valve. Simulated behaviors showed the applications of throttle valve sustained the process-pressure constantly, stably, and reliably in plasma process.

  • Thin film electronic devices which brought the current mobile environment could be fabricated only under the high quality vacuum conditions provided by high vacuum systems. Especially for the development of advanced thin film devices, constant high quality vacuum as the deposition pressure is definitely needed. For this purpose, the variable conductance throttle valves were employed to the high vacuum system. In this study, the effects of throttle valve applications on vacuum characteristics were simulated to obtain the optimum design modelling of variable conductance of high vacuum system. Simulations of the Performance Factors on Vacuum System

  • In this work, the effects of fairly influential factors on performance of vacuum system, such as constant pressure and outgassing effect were simulated to propose the optimum design factors. Outgassing effects of selected vacuum materials on the vacuum characteristics were simulated by the $VacSim^{Multi}$ simulation tool. This investigation examined the feasibility of reliably simulating the outgassing characteristics of common vacuum chamber materials (aluminum, copper, stainless steel, nickel plated steel, Viton A). The optimum design factors for vacuum systems were suggested based on the simulation results. And, the effects of throttle valve applications on vacuum characteristics were also simulated to obtain the optimum design model of variable conductance on high vacuum system. Simulated vacuum characteristics of the proposed modelling were agreed with the observed experimental behaviour of real systems.   • This paper addresses a throttle/brake control law for stop and go cruise control systems which make the vehicle remain at a safe distance from a preceding vehicle according to the driver's preference, automatically slow down and come to a full stop behind a preceding vehicle. The uncertainties of vehicle model have been considered in the design of the control law. The effect of throttle/brake control has been investigated via simulations. The simulations were performed using a complete nonlinear vehicle model. The results indicate that the proposed throttle/brake control law can provide the stop and go cruise control system with a good distance tracking performance.

Internal Aerodynamic Noise from Quick Opening Throttle Valve (쓰로틀 밸브의 빠른 열림 동작에 의한 내부공력소음)

  • For many industrial problems originating from aerodynamic noise, noise prediction techniques, reliable and easy to apply, would be of great value to engineers and manufacturers. General algorithm is presented for the prediction of internal flow-induced noise from quick opening throttle valve in an automotive engine. This algorithm is based on the integral formula derived by using the General Green Function, Lighthill's acoustic analogy and Curle's extension of Lighthill's. Novel approach of this algorithm is that the integral formula is so arranged as to predict frequency-domain acoustic signal at any location in a duct by using unsteady flow data in space and time, which can be provided by the Computational Fluid Dynamics Techniques. This semi-analytic model is applied to the prediction of internal aerodynamic noise from a throttle valve in an automotive engine. The predicted noise levels from the throttle valve show good agreement with actual measurements. The results show that the dipole noise is dominant in this phenomena and the origin of noise sources is attributed to the anti-vortex lines formed in the down-stream from a throttle valve. This illustrative computation shows that the current method permits generalized predictions of flow noise generated by bluff bodies and turbulence in flow ducts.

An experimental study on the behavior of fuel flow in intake manifold by the model (모델에 의한 흡배관내 연료유동의 거동에 관한 실험염구)

  • This paper deals with the experimental study on the behavior of fuel (methanol) in intake manifold by using the basic apparatus which is manufactured the visible straight tube type model. In this study, the new device for liquid film thickness measurement and vaporization rate measurement are introduced to investigate the variation of liquid film thickness along the intake manifold and to observe the effect of vaporization of injected fuel. the results are summarized as follows: 1) The vaporization rate increases in proportion to decreasing of throttle valve angle and growing air fuel ratio. 2) The liquid film thickness along the intake manifold is mostly independent for the throttle valve angle in low air velocity and then affected in high air velocity, but the distribution of the liquid film thickness on circumferential position almost constant in the region of 300mm down stream from carburetor. 3) The mean liquid film thickness is 0.04 - 0.18mm in case of methanol in the region of air velocity Va = 12m/s - 55m/s and decreases with decreasing the throttle valve angle.

Analysis of Factors Affecting Fuel Consumption of Agricultural Tractor (농용 트랙터 연료소모량에 미치는 요인분석)

  • The objective of this study was to analyze the factors affecting on fuel consumption of agricultural tractor. According to the statistical analysis, fuel consumption of agricultural tractor was considerably influenced by kind of operation, throttle engine speed and gear steps of tractor but much less by kind of soil. Specific fuel consumption of the tractor in plowing, dry paddy tilling, wet paddy tilling and wet paddy levelling was 0.33~0.36, 0.30~0.45, 0.19~0.34, 0.28~0.39 L/$kW{\cdot}h$, respectively, and $CO_2$ emission was 0.36~0.45, 0.35~0.58, 0.22~0.42, 0.24~0.37 kg/$kW{\cdot}h$, respectively. Specific fuel consumption and $CO_2$ emission increased as throttle engine speed increased but reversely proportional with gear step of tractor, by which one can reduce fuel consumption and $CO_2$ emission with practicing of "Gear up & Throttle Down" technique in paddy operations.

  • In this study, the GSP and in-house numerical codes have been used for analyses of the on-design, static off-design and dynamic off-design performances. Through the various missions including altitude, velocity, and power variations the static engine performance have been investigated. The dynamic engine performances based on these complicated variations have been also analyzed. Especially, the power, engine rpm and heat overload characteristics of the turbine have been estimated with the response time through the control of the throttle setting rather than the power setting. It could be applied to the FADEC system as an engine control device.

  • The objective of this paper is to design the controller for longitudinal vehicle following which makes the vehicle follow the lead vehicle and keeps a safety distance without human driver operation. This paper presents a sliding mode control algorithm for the ACC system. The controller is based on three sliding surfaces. Each surface plays an individual control-deviation control, throttle control and brake control. In addition to sliding mode control, we propose some additional schemes to enhance controller performance. The first one is a gear shift-down controller which makes tractive force increase with a change of gear ratio. The other is a predictive correction method which reduces slinky effect.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance characteristics of the counterflow exhaust heat recovery device for the applied gasoline engines. The EHRS device is installed behind the catalyst. This study investigates the engine warm-up characteristic, the exhaust noise characteristic, the back-pressure characteristic. The engine warm-up characteristics is (load 0%, load 10%, load 20%) in (idle, 1000rpm, 1500rpm, 2000rpm, 2500rpm) conditions by measuring the time it warmed up, coolant temperature ($25^{\circ}C{\sim}80^{\circ}C$) until the performance evaluation is performed. The wide open throttle and the coast down the exhaust noise and the back-pressure characteristic experiment repeated twice. The test conditions is 950rpm~6,050rpm proceed experiment repeated 3-5 times. Load 0% idle conditions except the results improved engine warm-up characteristics. The exhaust noise obtain similar results the BASE+EHRS W/O_FRT_MUFF with BASE and back-pressure to obtain similar results BASE+EHRS W/O_FRT_ MUFF with BASE+EHRS.
