This study carried out an evaluation of an oil tank that was defective in structure. This paper is divided into two sections which are analysis for the working process and suggestion for improving on the structure of the oil tank. As stated above, it has three major factors as to an improvement, such as the life cycle of structure (especially physical life cycle), and the many factors related to the duration years of the oil tank and analysis result. Based on this study, the improvement of oil tank was established. For example, the ground investigation needs before design and construction of oil tank, and constructing the oil tank by retaining wall type tank is good for maintenance. Also, it is important that the system for drainage is related to maintenance.

This paper describes an optimal control scheduling of an encapsulated ice storage system with a chiller of nominal chiller 34RT(103,200kcal/hr) and an ice storage tank of 170RT-hrs(514,080 kcal). The optimization technique used in the study is dynamic programing. The objective function is summed cost during a day including charge and discharge periods. Control strategies being used commercially are chiller priority and storage priority control. In chiller priority control, the chiller is allowed to run at full capacity during the day, subject to limitations of the building load, and the ice is only melted when and if the load exceeds the chillers full capacity. In contrast to chiller priority control, the aim in storage priority control is to melt as much as ice as possible during the day time period. The system simulation calculates the operation costs for the three control strategies in the condition of the same cooling load and the same ice storage system. The simulation period is a day, assuming that initially the tank is stored fully and the cooling load is perfectly predicted for the scheduling. Also Final state of the tank is to be charged fully.

In the present paper, model tests of suppressing sloshing fitted with two perforated floating plates are carried out. The study involves identification of system performance such as the suppression and the solidity ratio. Three different solidity ratios of perforated plates have been tried out as potential positive slosh damping devices. A series of painstaking experiments have been conducted in a rigid rectangular tank on six degrees of freedom motion platform under roll harmonic excitation. Comparison of the clean tank shows that the three types of perforated plates are all effective on damping the run-up and impact pressure along the bulkhead. The parametric study indicates that the perforated plate with the median solidity ratio is the most optimal one in suppressing sloshing among three configurations.

A design methodology of the modeled test facility to conserve an injection performance of a passive safety injection system is proposed. This safety injection system is composed of a core makeup tank and a safety injection tank. Individual tanks are connected with pressure balance line on the top side and injection line on the bottom side. It is important to conserve the scaled initial injection flow rate and total injection time since this system can be operated by small gravity head without any active pumps. Differential pressure distribution of the injection line induced by the gravity head is determined by the vertical length and elevation of each tank. However, the total injection time is adjustable by the flow resistance coefficient of the injection line. The scaling methodology for the tank and flow resistance coefficient is suggested. A key point of this test facility design is a scaling analysis for the flow resistance coefficient. The scaling analysis proposed on this paper is based on the volume scaling law with the same vertical length to the prototype and can be extended to a model with a reduced vertical length. A set of passive injection test were performed for the tanks with the same volume and the different length. The test results on the initial flow rate and total injection time showed the almost same injection characteristics and they were in good agreement with the design values.
This study is to develop a web-based integrated system for flow of agricultural products based on recent researches with engineering approach. The system stands on the basis of web for accessibility and usability. Three parts of the system consist of analysis of regional shipping characteristics using tank model, estimation of pallet load efficiency with Monte Carlo Simulation, a long term prediction of market price with reliability analysis. Besides a decision support module for selecting optimal shipping market is added through synthesizing techniques and spatial analysis using GIS and applied to Chinese cabbage of Pyeongchang in 2004.

In HANARO, a multi-purpose research reactor of 30 MWth, the emergency water supply system consists essentially of an emergency water storage tank located in the level of about thirteen meter (13 m) above the reactor core, a three inch ('3\%') diameter water injection pipe line including injection valves from the tank to the reactor cooling inlet pipe and a test loop to do periodic system performance test. When the water level of the reactor pool comes down to the extremely low due to a loss of reactor pool water accident the emergency water stored in the tank should be fed to the core by the gravity force and at that time the design flow rate is eleven point four kilogram per second (11.4 kg/s). But it is impossible periodically to measure the injection flow rate under the emergency condition because the normal water level should be maintained during the reactor operation. This paper describes a flow network analysis to simulate the flow rate under the emergency condition. As results, it was confirmed through the analysis results that the calculated flow rate agrees with the design requirement under the emergency condition.

SMART100 has a containment pressure and radioactivity suppression system (CPRSS) for passive containment cooling system (PCCS). This prevents overheating and over-pressurization of a containment through direct contact condensation in an in-containment refueling water storage tank (IRWST) and wall condensation in a CPRSS heat exchanger (CHX) in an emergency cool-down tank (ECT). The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) constructed scaled-down test facilities, SISTA1 and SISTA2, for the thermal-hydraulic validation of the SMART100 CPRSS. Three separate effect tests were performed using SISTA1 to confirm the heat removal characteristics of SMART100 CPRSS. When the low mass flux steam with or without non-condensable gas is released into an IRWST, the conditions for mitigation of the chugging phenomenon were identified, and the physical variables were quantified by the 3D reconstruction method. The local behavior of the non-condensable gas was measured after condensation inside heat exchanger using a traverse system. Stratification of non-condensable gas occurred in large tank of the natural circulation loop. SISTA2 was used to simulate a small break loss-of-coolant accident (SBLCOA) transient. Since the test apparatus was a metal tank, compensations of initial heat transfer to the material and effect of heat loss during long-term operation were important for simulating cooling performance of SMART100 CPRSS. The pressure of SMART100 CPRSS was maintained below the design limit for 3 days even under sufficiently conservative conditions of an SBLOCA transient.

Liquid sloshing occurs when a partially filled liquid tank is subjected to undesirable external forces or acceleration/deceleration for positioning control. Installation of baffles is still the most popular way to suppress the sloshing, but recent successes of input shaping in reducing structural vibrations may give a possible alternative. We aim at investigating the applicability of input shaping to sloshing suppression by numerically solving fluid motions in a rectangular tank. The tank is partially filled with water and it is suddenly put into a sequence of horizontal motions of acceleration and constant speed. The flow is assumed to be two-dimensional, incompressible, and in viscid, and a VOF two-phase model is used to capture the free surface. Results show that the sloshing can be successfully suppressed by shaping the input, i.e., the velocity or acceleration profile of tank. Three different input shapers (ZII, ZVD, and two-mode convolved ZV shapers) are tested and compared in this study Among them, the convolved ZV shaper shows a best performance to eliminate the sloshing almost completely.
The heat transfer experiment in a pilot scale latent heat storage tank as a solar energy storage system for the hot water supply was carried out. The latent heat storage tank was consisted of three parts; Outer shell for hot water from solar collector, PCM storage vessel in the middle of the tank and immersed coil in the PCM vessel for hot water recovery. The heat storage tank has the dimension of 115 cm in height and 32 cm outside diameter. Paraffin wax (m.p = 55.4C) and sodium acetate trihydrate (m.p = 58 C) were employed as the PCM this study. Experimental variables were inlet temperature and flow rate of the hot water for heat storage stage and cold water for heat recovery stage. Temperature profiles, heat transfer coefficient and the efficiency of heat storage $(Q/Q_{max})$ and heat recovery $(Q/Q_{max})$ were determined for the paraffin wax and inorganic salt respectively.
To find out suitable indoor rearing tank shape and stocking density of the abalone Haliotis discus hannai, young abalones were reared in the square or ellipse shape tanks with various stocking densities and were fed dried sea mustard, Undaria Pinnatifida HARVEY for three years. There were no significant differences between the square rearing tank and the ellipse one in growth rate and survival rate. With regard to vertical design of rearing tanks with three floors, the significant differences were not found among culture floors. However, the growth and survival rates of young abalones from the running water system were significantly higher than those of the abalones from the circulating system (P< 0.05). For the stocking density experiment with 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 individuals of 20 mm young abalone, there was no significant differences in growth and survival rates among these groups. However, in that of 200-400 individuals of 40 mm abalone and 100-300 individuals of 50 mm abalone, the lower stocking density of young abalone showed the higher growth and survival rates. The lower stocking density and the smaller size of young abalones showed the higher daily feeding rate and feed efficiency.
