Experiment was set up to analyze bycatch and discards situation including snow crap Chionoecetes opilio of whelk trap. Four types of trap were used: drum type trap with PE net; drum type trap with PBS net; cylinder type trap with PE net; and cylinder type net with PBS net. Three funnels were attached in drum type trap and two funnels were used in cylinder type trap. A fleet of traps was consisted with one hundred traps. 25 traps of each type were set on a line in repeated sequence. Field experiments were conducted with 6 fishing operations in the Uljin waters, East Sea in July 2014. Catch of target whelks were 173,261 g and catch rate was 48.7% of total catch, while bycatch were 182,571 g, 51.3% of tatal catch. The catch rate of bycatch was 2.6% higher than that of target catch. Bycatch weight of snow crap was the highest as 142,987 g and formed about 40.2% of total catch, followed giant octopus, Enteroctopus dofleini, 31,762 g (8.9%). Bycatch rate of cylinder type trap was 2.3 times higher than that of drum type trap. Discard rate (discard/(discard+landing)) was 43.6%. Discard rate was the highest at cylinder type trap with PBS net as 63.1%, followed cylinder type trap with PE net as 47.9%, drum type trap with PE net as 33.4%, the lowest at drum type trap with PBS net as 22.1%.
Coil inductor has been used widely as an electromagnet, because of the high magnetic filed resulting from the voltage applied to the coil. In this study the coils were used in vibration suppression as an actuator. The control system consists of a coil attached in aluminum beam and a permanent magnet set at its bottom. This actuation method is easy to be incorporated into the system and allows significant forces to be applied without contacting with the structure. Three types of coils (cylindrical type, square type, Circular sheet type) were employed in vibration suppression of cantilever beam. The positive position feedback (PPF) controller was applied to the magnet-coil actuator to suppress the first mode of vibration. Experimental results showed that the cylindrical type and square type coil made good vibration suppression efficiency under PPF controller than their eddy current damper. However, there was minimal difference for the circular sheet type coil if compared with its eddy current damper.
The tapered and set-back type of unconventional designs have been used earlier in many buildings. These shapes are aerodynamically efficient and offer a significant amount of damping against wind-induced forces and excitations. Various studies have been conducted on these shapes earlier. The present study adopts a hybrid approach of turbulence modelling i.e., Detached-eddy Simulation (DES) to investigate the effect of height modified tapered and set-back buildings on aerodynamic forces and their sensitivity towards pressure. The modifications in the flow field around the building models are also investigated and discussed. Three tapering ratios (T.R.=(Bottom width- Top width)/Height) i.e., 5%, 10%, 15% are considered for tapered and set-back buildings. The results show that, mean and RMS along-wind and across-wind forces are reduced significantly for the aerodynamically modified buildings. The extent of reduction in the forces increases as the taper ratio is increased, however, the set-back modifications are more worthwhile than tapered showing greater reduction in the forces. The pressure distribution on the surfaces of the buildings are analyzed and in the last section, the influence of the flow field on the forces is discussed.
There are three types in frequency response accelerometer; one is lightly damped piezp type, another is oil damping stainguage type and the third is electro induction type accelerometer within electromagnetic damping. The usable frequency range of lightly damped accelerometers is limited to 0.2 of their mounted natural frequency for amplitude distortion of less than 5 percents. There have been situation where the measured motion contains unforeseen high - frequency components, which are regarded as such due to the accelerometer transfer function. There are several way to overcome amplitude distortion of the higher than anticipated frequency components; (I) to make use of the accelerometer with natural frequency three times and more as high as the measured frequency, (II) to establish data-analysis techniques which will account for the amplitude distortion, (III) to set up a notch filter circuit which has a transfer function that is the reciprocal of the accelerometer transfer function, and so on. This paper makes a report of the method as to(III), i. e., set up a few notch filter circuits, it is discussed what happens when the transfer functions, are in discord as to natural frequency of the filter and accelerometer damping vs. filter damping. And especially as for the cantilever strain gauge type accelerometer made by oneself with ease, it was compared and discussed between the ideological value and the experimental value of actual designed circuit in case of the mismatching of the transfer functions, and it was considered whether to be practicable or not, the result of which was as following; the useful frequency range of the accelerometer can be extended to near resonance if (a) the accelerometer mounted natural frequency and the filter center frequency are matched within .+-. 2 percent and (b) the damping ratios are matched within two factors. Therefore, we obtained the good result in improvement for extending frequency response characteristics of accelerometer.
The objective of this study was to understand which type of fire hose should be placed in indoor fireplug box upon analyzing the preparation time between rack-type fire hose and reel-type one. With respect to the type of hose, rack-type stacking method was used and hose preparation time was measured with 5 times of repeat test, separating men and women. Study results reveal that preparation time of reel-type fire hose took longer than that of rack-type one in both men and women. For both rack-type hose and reel-type hose, preparation time by two persons took shorter than that by one man. Also, preparation time by three persons took shorted than that by two women. Preparation time for both rack-type hose and reel-type one by men took shorter than that by women. In summary, it was confirmed that rack-type hose could be prepared within shorter time than reel-type one. Since the size of drum set in the reel-type fire hose is relatively small, it had some difficulty in preparation of fire hose timely.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the vegetation structure and ecological restoration of disturbed forest due to artificial plant. To this end, 12 plots were set up and surveyed. The result analyzed considering mean importance percentage(M.I.P) showed that the types were divided into three groups which are artificial planted forest type(three plots), natural forest-artificial planted forest type(four plots), natural forest type(five plots). Dominant proportion of artificial planted species were as follows: artificial planted forest type was over 60%, natural forest-artificial planted forest types were 14~49%. The range of Shannon's index of all associations was from 0.7131 to 0.7771(natural forest-artificial planted forest > natural forest > artificial planted forest). Also we suggested restoration method of vegetation for ecological value as follow: Control of density considering step and Remove of Pinus koraiensis seedlings of understory layer and shurb layer.
This research was intended to identify variables influencing on risk perception and risk reduction behavior in clothing purchase situations. Responses from 631 female adults living in Seoul area were collected and analyzed. Towner for social occasions or working in office was used as clothing stimulus. The analysis included three product variables(price, style, type of clothing), 4 personality variables(generalized self-confidence, specific self-confidence, generalized informativeness, fashion informativeness), 2 clothing attitude variables(clothing importance, clothing interest), 4 demographic variables(age, educational level, occupation, income), and 3 situational variables(purchase planning, time pressure, effects of shopping company). Multiple regression revealed the fact that each type of clothing risk and each type of risk reduction behavior was influenced by the set of different variables. Generalized self- confidence and age and time pressure had more effects on clothing risk perception, while clothing risk reduction behavior was more influenced by clothing risk type, clothing interest, price of clothing and fashion informativeness. Implications for marketing strategies planning were also provided.
In this study, canonical correlation analysis (CCA) was applied to estimate the relationship between three different sexual maturity traits (X set: days to first egg (DFE), weight of the first egg (WFE), body weight at first egg (BWFE)) and level of nutrient intake (Y set: energy (EI) and protein intake (PI)) or the egg production traits at two different periods (Z set: number of egg (NE1 and NET) and weight of egg (WE1 and WET) from 22 to 25 (Wfirst) and 22 to 33 wk of age (Wall), respectively), which were measured from 64 egg-type pullets (Isa Brown) manipulated for time of access to energy and protein sources to onset of egg production. Partial CCA (PCCA) was used to eliminate the contribution of differences in the levels of nutrient intake to canonical variables for X and Z sets at the first production period. Estimated canonical correlation coefficients between X set and Y set (0.429, p = 0.042), X set and Z set (0.390, p = 0.007 for Wfirst) and within Z set (between Wfirst and Wall; 0.780, p<0.001), and partial canonical correlation coefficient between X set and Z set (0.415, p = 0.009) were significant. Canonical weights and loadings from CCA indicated that the BWFE had the largest contribution compared to the DFE and WFE to variation of egg number produced at two different periods. The results from PCCA indicated that the contribution of PI and EI to the degree of the correlation between canonical variables for X and Z sets were unfavourable. In conclusion, the effect of body weight at sexual maturity upon the availability of nutrients can have a higher contribution to variation of egg production in pullets if the contribution of differences in nutrient intakes to onset of egg production were eliminated.
This paper proposes a synchronous switching technique for a Vienna rectifier that uses carrier-based pulse width modulation (CB-PWM). A three-phase Vienna rectifier, similar to a three-level T-type converter with three back-to-back switches, is used as a PWM rectifier. Conventional CB-PWM requires six independent gate signals to operate back-to-back switches. When internal switches are operated synchronously, only three independent gate signals are required, which simplifies the construction of gate driver circuits. However, with this method, total harmonic distortion of the input current is higher than that with conventional CB-PWM switching. A reactive current injection technique is proposed to improve current distortion. The performance of the proposed synchronous switching method and the effectiveness of the reactive current injection technique are verified using simulations and experiments performed with a set of Vienna rectifiers rated at 5 kW.
This paper presents the design and implementation of a 5kW programmable three-phase harmonic generator, which is capable of generating sinusoidal output voltages with adjustable output amplitude and frequency over a wide range as well as arbitrary waveforms. The considered harmonic generator is a linear power amplifier type. This system consists mainly of a power converter to generate and amplify waveform signals, a controller to control the desired output signal and measure the output parameters including voltage and current, and a control program to set the desired output and display the output values. The prototype programmable three-phase harmonic generator has been constructed and tested. Test results show that the developed programmable three-phase harmonic generator performs well.
