  • This paper describes an automatic finite element(FE) mesh generation for three-dimensional structures consisting of free-form surfaces. This mesh generation process consists of three subprocesses: (a) definition of geometric model, i.e. analysis model, (b) generation of nodes, and (c) generation of elements. One of commercial solid modelers is employed for three-dimensional solid and shell structures. Node is generated if its distance from existing node points is similar to the node spacing function at the point. The node spacing function is well controlled by the fuzzy knowledge processing. The Delaunay method is introduced as a basic tool for element generation. Automatic generation of FE meshes for three-dimensional solid and shell structures holds great benefits for analyses. Practical performances of the present system are demonstrated through several mesh generations for three-dimensional complex geometry.

  • The two main purposes of this study were to develop the 'Three Generation Family-Madang Program' and to examine its effects on enhancing family functioning and strengthening family relationships. The 'Three Generation Family-Madang Program' consisted of six sessions, each of which included various types of activities and educational materials to evoke interests of the three-generation family members. Subjects of this study were 21 triples, consisting of mothers and their family members, each for the experimental group and the control group, respectively. Mean, Standard Deviation, MANCOVA, and Discriminant Analysis were carried out for the data analyses. Our results showed that the 'Three Generation Family-Madang Program' was effective in enhancing family adaptability and family relationships. Our program focused on the parent generation to have a better understanding and a more positive perspective toward other family members, which would enhance family functioning and family relationships. Our program also received positive feedback from the grandparent and grandchildren generation participants.

  • The aim of this study was to recognize the need of three generation family house that is traditional house type of Korea. First, the pre-research analysis method was used for this study. And then, there are three type's grouping like those are as follows; 1) Recognition of three generation family house. 2) Type of three generation family house. 3) Plans of three generation family house. The analysis results are as follows; If the conditions are better than now, recognition is positive. Type are living together and next doors type can direct access. Some standart plan is been about room's number, house's area, bath's number and so on. Second, try to compare plan - this plan already has been used building - with standard plan. The compare result are as follows; three generation family houses - be used by whom - do not apply to standard plan. Almost houses have a three room that is less than the standard plan. All houses have a number of two bath that is less than the standard plan too. Condition of consideration is suitable to ages in next door type, but in case of living together type that consider user whom is use the inner room. Separation of entrance distinguish between the living together type and the next doors type. In case of living together type Dining with Kitchen room's number is one, but the next doors type have the number of two.

  • Information on the planning of the housing unit for three generation family is required for developing nuclear families and increasing elderly person. This study deal with the life style, it's characteristics and housing needs of the elderly who lived with other two generations. Specifically, this study attempted to find the basic information of the detailed planning and the establishment of criteria of the housing unit for three generation family. The results of this study were as follows. 1. Planning of the housng unit for three generation family, it had to be taken over residency areas for elderly especially for keeping privacy each other. 2. It was necessary the criteria of housing standards for eldery based on their housing characteristics. 3. Considering the psychological characterstics and life style of the elderly, it should be suggest that they could live easily with their next generation in the samecommunity. Also, the public policy should take over the housing unit for three generation family.

  • For last 20 years, a number of researches and developments on finite element mesh generation has been carried out and most of them are comported of node generation part and node generation part. However these algorithms are inefficient in mesh veneration process and difficult to control the shape of elements when comparing with the generation of nodes and elements concurrently. In this study, therefore, an algorithm it proposed to generate nodes and elements concurrently for various two-dimensional objects having multiple holes. Inner node generation is performed by choosing three consecutive boundary nodes and comparing them with other close boundary nodes. As soon as inner nodes are determined, element generation is conducted based on the comparison of the distances among the generated inner nodes, three consecutive boundary nodes and other close boundary nodes. the generated element nodes become new boundary nodes for further repeated process. The processes are repeated through out each region until three consecutive boundary nodes finally form a tirangular element.

  • The purposes of this research were to find out general trends of family value orientations among adolescent, middle and old generation and to investigate the differences according to related variables. For this study, three kinds of questionnaire were used and the data were obtained through 1194 samples of three generation groups living in Seoul and Kwangju. The traditional trends of old generation's value orientations were outstanding while adolescents relatively showed modernized value orientations. The value differences between adolescent and middle generation were larger than between middle and old generation. Especially value orientations of children and sex-role were largely changed, but familism was relatively preserved even in adolescent generation. The family value orientations differed significantly according to gender, age, eduaction level, income, occupation, and family type. Generally middle and adolescent women showed more modernized value orientatons than men and value orientations of three generation were most likely to be correlated with family satisfaction level.

  • The purpose of this research is to grasp the spatial environmental needs of a three generation family, thereby to suggest some major concepts which can be used as basic design guidelines for a three generation family housing. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey from 467 housewives living in a three generation family households. Results showed that most respondents want to be seperated from their old parents. This tendency, however, changed once a housing alternative for the three generation living was assumed to have been developed. The most preferred alternative housing units were identified. The desirable proportions of the unit alternatives were 34% for a single unit. 28% for the two connected units. 7% for two separated units within a building and 32% for two separated units in different buildings within the same housing complex.
