Objective : Assuming that the characteristic of meridian system has been similar to this of electric potentials in human body and that measurements of electric potential at well(井穴) and sea(合穴) points in branches of the twelve meridians will be representative of measurements of the twelve meridians, to measure the electric potentials in twenty aged and fifty aged healthy volunteers groups at sleeping(SG) and awakening(AG), and then to find out the characteristic of meridian system among 2 groups. Methods : We selected who thirty healthy volunteers were diagnosed by a blood test, urine examination and differentiation of syndromes by five viscera(五臟辨證) among volunteers. Their electric potential of well and sea points in the meridians were simultaneously measured by physiograph. Results : Measurements were analyzed by statistical factor analysis, we obtained that the both left and right side electric potential of well and sea points in branches of the twelves meridians were unclearly divided into four factors according to age and whether sleeping or not, which were the three Yin meridians of the hand, the three Yang channels of the hand, the three Yin meridians of the foot, and the three Yin meridians of the foot. Conclusion : In conclusion, using the sequently measuring method, we obtained that electrical potentials of well and sea points in branches of the twelves meridians were divided into two factors, but the simultaneously measuring method, those were divided into four factors. The latter result means that the electrical potentials of twelve meridians were reflected by the function of the viscera and bowels.

It was observed that the effectiveness of Yin-yang balancing therapy of the tempromandibular joint (YBT) or functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCS) in three cases: an acute and a chronic motor tic disorder and a Tourrette's disorder (TD). These three cases were mainly managed with cervical balancing appliance for the Yin-yang Balancing on tempromandibular joint (TMJ) and pelvic balance therapy. They were treated concurrently with acupuncture, cupping and herb-medicine. Clinical outcome measurement was based on subjective measures with visual analogue scale (VAS), Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTTS) and clinical observations for 235, 279 and 273 days respectively. The patient showed positive changes after the treatment and this effect maintained over the follow-up period. Although it is not clear whether the effect is sustained afterwards or not, a positive effect on the motor tic disorders and TD was observed. And so, furthermore strict clinical and structural researches for verification on YBT is expected.

There have been many studies to find out association between the face characteristics and some diseases or the personality and the health state, but there have been few association studies between the face characteristics and the yin/yang personality. We would like to suggest that the yin/yang personality is associated with the face characteristics. We collected 1,471 subjects from the February, 2008 to July, 2010. We divided into three groups of subjects by a yin/yang personality score and analyzed the face characteristics after adjusting for age. The Analysis of Covariance and Scheffe test was conducted to certify the difference among three groups. P-value for significance was under 0.05. The significant face characteristics were SH36 in men, and FD50_51, SH36, FArea04, FAreaRatio4, FR01, FR05 in women. There is some association between the face characteristics and the yin/yang personality.

In this thesis, I intend to study the translational and clinical interpretation through the theory of Eum-Yang-Li-Hap', and reached the following conclusions. 1. 'Eum-Yang (陰陽)' in title, means Yin and Yang as method of understanding nature or humanbody, and 'Li-Hap (離合)' in title, means classification and getting together. Especially there are a view that Eum Yang in title means only meridinans within the limit of human body, but the limit needn't, because the word 'Li-Hap of 3Yin-3Yang (三陰三陽之離合)' as meaning of human meridians in the text. 2. The content of the text is generally seperated into 3 parts, the 1st part contents properties of Li Hap of Yin and Yang. 2nd and 3rd parts content the explanation of property of 3Yin and 3Yang, as example of human meridians with local conception, and content nicknames of 3Yin-3Yang and present the Ideo of 'Kae-Hap-Choo (開闔樞)'. 3. 3Yin-3Yang in the text, many of annotators tried to explanate by three types of conception, of human meridians, of the 'Viscera-Bowels (臟腑)', or of the 'Element motions and Natural factors (運氣)'. I think that these three conceptions could be mixed when the text was written, and regarde for the present that 3Yin-3Yang is explanated by the conception of human meridians. 4. 'Eum (陰)' the head-letter of the nicknames of 3Yin-3Yang, I think that it means 'Jok-Gyeong (足經)' related with the words 'The earth belongs to Yin (地爲陰)' in the text. And it i s considered that further studies should be followed on the tail-words of 3Yin-3Yang's nicknams. 5. Kae-Hap-Choo, Used in similitude" as 'Li (離)' of 3Yin-3Yang, are seperated functions by location of 3Yin-3Yang. In text 'Tae-Yang (太陽)' and 'Tae-Eum (太陰)' act as 'Kae (開)', 'Yang-Myeong (陽明)', and 'Gweor-Eum (厥陰)' act as 'Hap (闔)', 'So-Yang (少陽)' and 'So-Eum (少陰)' act as 'Choo (樞).' But there is other theory that Gweor-Eum act as Choo, and So-Eum act as Hap. 6. The theory of Kae-Hop-Choo, including only Jok-Gyeong being main materials of 'Yook Gyeong-Byeon-Jeung (六經辨證) had influence on development of clinical studies. If the theory of Kae-Hap-Choo receives and unions the ideos of '3 burning-Spaces (三焦)', metabolism, etc. more development of medicine is expected.

Objectives : Ten heavenly stems(10天干) and Twelve earthly branches(12地支) are symbols exposing change order in heaven and earth, and are a very important sign in studying oriental philosophy and oriental medicine. Especially, 10 heavenly stems(10天干) and 12 earthly branches(12地支) are indispensable for the study of Five Circuits And Six Qi(오운육기), and a deep study is needed. Methods : I have examined Yin Yang combination(음양배합), Five elements combination(오행배합), Six Qi 3Yin 3Yang combination(육기삼음삼양배합), viscera combination(장부배합), Mutual collision(상충), Six combination(육합), Three combination(삼합), etc. of 12 earthly branches(12지지) by referring to books such as "Yellow Emperor Internal Classic" ("黃帝內經") and "Principle of universe change" ("우주변화의 원리"). Results & Conclusions : Zi Yin Chen Wu Shen Xu(子 寅 辰 午 申 戌) become Yang(陽), Chou Mao Si Wei You Hai(丑 卯 巳 未 酉 亥) become Yin(陰), Zi Si Yin Mao Chen Si(子 丑 寅 卯 辰 巳) become Yang, and Wu Wei Shen You Xu Hai(午 未 申 酉 戌 亥) become Yin. Twelve earthly branches can be divided into five movements by its original meaning, where YinMao(인묘) is tree, SiWu(사오) is a fire, ShenYou(신유) is a gold, HaiZi(해자) is water, and ChenXuChouWei(진술축미) mediate in the middle of four movements So they become soil(土). SiHai(巳亥) is JueYin Wind Tree(궐음 풍목), ZiWu(子午) is ShaoYin Monarch Fire(소음 군화), ChouWei(丑未) is TaiYin Humid Soil(태음 습토), YinShen(寅申) is ShaoYang Ministerial Fire(소양 상화), MaoYou(卯酉) is YangMing Dry Gold(양명 조금), and ChenXu(辰戌) is TaiYang Cold Water(태양 한수). Viscera combination(장부배합) combines Zi(子) and Bile(膽), Chou(丑) and Liver(肝), Yin(寅) and Lung(肺), Mao(卯) and Large intestine(大腸), Chen(辰) and Stomach(胃), Si(巳) and Spleen(脾), Wu(午) and Heart(心), Wei(未) and Small intestine(小腸), Shen(申) and Bladder(膀胱), You(酉) and Kidney(腎), Xu(戌) and Pericardium(心包), Hai(亥) and Tri-energizer(三焦), Which means that the function of the viscera and channels is the most active at that time. Twelve earthly branches mutual collisions collide with Zi(子) and Wu(午), Chou(丑) and Wei(未), Yin(寅) and Shen(申), Mao(卯) and You(酉), Chen(辰) and Xu(戌), and Si(巳) and Hai(亥). The two colliding earthly branches are on opposite sides, facing each other and restricting each other by the relation of Yin-Yin and Yang-Yang it rejects each other so a collision occurs. Six Correspondences(六合) coincide with Zi(子) and Chou(丑), Yin(寅) and Hai (亥), Mao(卯) and Xu(戌), Chen(辰) and You(酉) and Si(巳) and Shen(申) Wu(午) and Wei(未). Three combination(三合) is composed of ShenZiChen(申子辰), SiYouChou(巳酉丑), YinWuXu(寅午戌), and HaiMaoWei(亥卯未). Three combination(三合) is composed of ShenZiChen(申子辰), SiYouChou(巳酉丑), YinWuXu(寅午戌), and HaiMaoWei(亥卯未). This is because the time Six Qi(六氣) shifts in these three years are the same.

Purpose: This study was to compare and examine the effects of auricular acupressure therapy on insomnia in the elderly by Sasangin constitution. Methods: This study was designed to compare three groups according to Sasangin constitution (Tae Yin In, So Yang In, and So Yin In) in terms of the changeful effects of auricular acupressure therapy on insomnia in the elderly. The subjects were 81 (Tae Yin In: 28, So Yang In: 26, and So Yin In: 27) persons aged over 65 years who were living in Seoul or Gyunggi Province. Data were collected from May, 2007 to July, 2008, and analyzed by SPSS/WIN 16.0. Results: 1. The effect of auricular acupressure on insomnia in Tae Yin In was higher than that in So Yang In, and its effect in So Yang In was higher than that in So Yin In. 2. The effect was highest after the 4th treatment in Tae Yin In, after the 5th treatment in So Yang In, and after the 6th treatment in So Yin In. Conclusions: The use of auricular acupressure therapy in consideration of individual elders' Sasangin constitution can maximize its effect to relieve insomnia in the elderly.

The most fundamental and important medical treatment is science of acupuncture and moxibution, which is based on twelve channels theory. Meridian is a pathway that conveys material and energy in a human body. Twelve channels are divided into channels of hand & foot, channels of yin & yang. Yang channels are divided into taiyang, yangming, shaoyang, yin channels are divided into taiyin, shaoyin, jueyin. These are referred to twelve channels, and this theory is being used for diagnosis and test in oriental medicine. Meridian-doin-tajiquan is born, combining taijiquan which is recently handed down from China and Korean traditional method for health protection and treatment in ancient times and twelve channels, three yin & yang theory. I report this because meridian-doin-tajiquan which is non-medical and non-invasive way can be used in the treatment of disease, just like three yin & yang theory, the heart of the meridian theory, and Gehapchu theory are adjusted in the clinical science of acupuncture and moxibution. And I report this because I could mater the appropriateness of the traditional theory and I believed this corresponded with it, training myself by meridian-din-tajiquan. It is considered that this will be used in the treatment of pain disease of muscles and joints system and the diabetes, hypertension, obesity caused by stress in the near future.

Objectives : To review the meaning of Open-Close-Pivot and its transition over time. Methods : Annotations and explanations in chapters where the theory of Open-Close-Pivot originated from in the "Suwen(素問)" and "Lingshu(靈樞)" were examined, followed by philological examination of key physicians. Results & Conclusions : Yang Shang Shan(楊上善) compared the 'Open-Close-Pivot' to a door. Wang Bing(王冰) explained it's movement and stillness to be the principle behind the Three-Yin-Three-Yang's threefold division. Wang Ji(汪機), in "XuSuwenChao(續素問鈔)" explained its physiological function as the entering and exiting of Ying Wei(營衛), and its scope to be exterior, interior, and center. Ma Shi(馬蒔) stratified it similar to "Shanghanlun(傷寒論)"'s six stages, while Wu Kun(吳崑) categorized Shaoyang(少陽) as being in-between exterior and interior. Zhang Jing Yue(張景岳) suggested a standard for the entering-exiting and exterior-interior-center concepts of the Open-Close-Pivot. Zhang Zhi Cong(張志聰) argued a theory of Open-Close-Pivot that emphasized the meaning of Three-Yin-Three-Yang, while Gao Shi Zong(高士宗) explained the relationship between Open, Close, Pivot and the functioning process. Shi Shou Tang(石壽棠) explained the physiology and pathology in the actions among Open-Close-Pivot with a focus on Pivot. Ke Qin(柯琴) applied Open-Close-Pivot to "Shanghanlun(傷寒論)" and used it as the basic principle to the Six Channel Ground Theory(六經地面說), also clinically applying it in the identification and treatment of the Six Channel patterns. The purpose of this study was to quantify kinematic and kinetic characteristics of Yin-yang Bo gait according to their motor expertise, one of the Seokmun Ilwol martial art gait patterns. Yin-yang Bo gait pattern shows initial forefoot contact instead of heel contact, and increased time of stance phase time, internal-external rotation of ankle-knee-hip joints and pelvic. It aims to produce and store the more energy through continuous homeostasis of center of gravity (COG) and performance of stretch-shortening cycle. Some of these characteristics also were similar to the gait modification strategies for reducing knee adduction moment such as toe-out progression, medial thrust, internal rotation of hip joint. To identify the characteristics, four factors of expert Yin-yang Bo gait performance group were compared to that of none expert group; 1) angles of COG displacement and rotation 2) distal joint pre-rotation in internal-external rotation of ankle-knee-hip joints and pelvic, 3) invariability pelvic potential and pelvic segment total energy 4) knee abduction moment. Six healthy(three male) subjects participated in the experiment to perform Yin-yang gait pattern. Three-dimensional and force plate data were collected. Kinematic and kinetic data were compared between two groups using t-tests. Results showed that 1) the peak point of COG internal rotation angle was reduced in expert group, 2) kneeexternal and hip joint -internal and pelvic rotation angle peak frames were more near points in expert group.

It has been known that Asian Medicine theory are based on yin and yang & Five Phases. but recently many therapist using asian medicine in Korea or another nations, take up the position that it is not inevitable for them to adopt the theory of yin-and-yang & Five Phases when they cure a patient. but the point of this view suggests they can not understand totally the real theory about yin-and-yang & Five Phases. asian image-mathematics based on I-Ching could analysis all things with the natural number. the kernel of understanding on principle of I-Ching is realizing that the standard should be changed in some conditions and the form of cosmos should change endless. the system of all thing under sun is divided in three parts on the asian image-mathematics. the nature number from one to nine is divided in three categories that are grouped as 123, 456, 789. So, if we want to understand Five Phases theory, we suggest that it is useful to know the organic connected relations among Four Images, Five Phases, Six Qi(six kinds of weather). the aim of this paper is to arrive at understanding of profound learning on image-mathematics throughout the number of 4, 5, 6 in the concrete context.
