The Relationship between Perceptions of Organizational Politics and Perceived Work Performance: Focusing on the 3-way interaction Effect of Leader-member Exchange and Self-efficacy (조직정치지각과 지각된 업무성과: 리더-구성원 교환관계와 자기효능감의 삼원조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of perceptions of organizational politics(i.e., POPs) and leader-member exchange(i.e., LMX) on the perceived work performance. Also, this paper investigates the moderating effect of LMX on the relationship between POPs and work performance. Particularly, this study is to expand on prior research by investigating the three-way interaction effect of LMX and self-efficacy. The summary of results based on a sample of 280 employees who were working in various organizations in KOREA is following. First, POPs were not significantly related to perceived work performance. Second, LMX was positively and significantly related to perceived work performance. Third, LMX did not moderate the negative relationship between POPs and perceived work performance. Finally, our results showed that for individuals with a high level of self-efficacy, LMX moderates the negative relationship between POPs and perceived work performance. That is, for individuals with a high level of self-efficacy, POPs were positively related to work performance under high LMX(in-group), but were negatively related to work performance under low LMX(out-group). Theoretical and practical implications of our findings as well as directions for future research are provided.

An Empirical Study on a Mediating Role of Brand Image between SNS Marketing and Purchase Intention (SNS 마케팅과 구매의도 간 브랜드 이미지의 매개역할에 대한 실증분석)

  • Purpose SNS (Social Network Service) is one of new promising marketing tools which allow marketer to do two-way communication and social interaction. Three characteristics of SNS marketing including informativeness, interactivity, and playfulness are distinguished from traditional marketing. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between three characteristics of SNS marketing, brand image, and purchase intention. Design/methodology/approach The present study proposed a research model integrating SNS marketing characteristics, brand image, and purchase intention represented by structural equation modelling and four hypotheses. A total of 20 questionnaire items for five variables were developed and measured by using five point Likert scale. 199 valid data were collected and used to test four hypotheses using SmartPLS. Findings Three hypotheses that the characteristics of SNS marketing such as informativeness, interactivity, and playfulness have a positive influence on brand image were supported at the significance level of 0.05 and 0.001 respectively. The hypothesis regarding the relationship between brand image and purchase intention was also supported at the significance level of 0.001. Brand image plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between SNS marketing and purchase intention. In particular, the result of research that playfulness of SNS marketing affects brand image significantly suggests a new future research theme regarding spiritual marketing. Implications for academics and practitioners were suggested.

A Case Study of Applying Performance Technology to Diagnose and Improve Skill Education Systems

  • This study used the performance technology model of Robinson and Robinson to diagnose and solve the problems of the "N" organization. The performance relationship map of the "N" organization was constructed based on the results of the benchmarking, surveys, interviews, and participatory observations. According to the results of analysis, the research team suggested several interventions in three areas: textbooks, educational methods, and educational environments. The study concluded that performance technology is a very effective way to see performance problems from a holistic viewpoint and solve the problems scientifically based on this case study.

Comparison of Data Mining Classification Algorithms for Categorical Feature Variables (범주형 자료에 대한 데이터 마이닝 분류기법 성능 비교)

  • In this paper, we compare the performance of three data mining classification algorithms(neural network, decision tree, logistic regression) in consideration of various characteristics of categorical input and output data. $2^{4-1}$. 3 fractional factorial design is used to simulate the comparison situation where factors used are (1) the categorical ratio of input variables, (2) the complexity of functional relationship between the output and input variables, (3) the size of randomness in the relationship, (4) the categorical ratio of an output variable, and (5) the classification algorithm. Experimental study results indicate the following: decision tree performs better than the others when the relationship between output and input variables is simple while logistic regression is better when the other way is around; and neural network appears a better choice than the others when the randomness in the relationship is relatively large. We also use Taguchi design to improve the practicality of our study results by letting the relationship between the output and input variables as a noise factor. As a result, the classification accuracy of neural network and decision tree turns out to be higher than that of logistic regression, when the categorical proportion of the output variable is even.

  • Purpose : This study was performed to examine study on the relationship between communication ability and teamwork competency of EMT students. Method : The results were based on the revised questionnaires, which can be applicable to EMT from the using questionnaires by Canary et $al^{10)}$ and $Bu^{11)}$, with a sample of 163 students consisting of 55 first, 48 second and third 60, conducted on October 10, 2008. Data were analyzed using SPSS 14.0 in terms of means, $x^2-test$, standard deviation, one way ANOVA, and correlation. Results : The communication competency was statistically significantly different between three groups. In the area of adaptability, there were statistically significant difference between three groups. In the area of effectiveness, there were no statistically significant difference between three groups. In the area of appropriateness, there were statistically significant difference between three groups. The cooperative learning was statistically significant difference between three groups. In the area of team conversation, there were statistically significant difference between three groups. In the area of cooperation and collision management, there were statistically significant difference between three groups. In the area of cooperation and collision management team decision making, there were statistically significant difference between three groups. As a results of correlation analysis, there was correlation of communication and cooperative learning. Conclusion : This results showed that education of communication and cooperative learning must be instructed to EMT students. Consequently, It is necessary to make a further application tool of EMT.

Sequencing Strategy for Autonomous Mobile Robots in Real Environments (이동로봇 자율주행을 위한 행위모듈의 실행순서 조정기법)

  • Autonomous mobile robots are required to achieve multiple goals while responding quickly to the dynamic environments. An appropriate robot control architecture, which clearly and systematically defines the relationship among the inputs, the processing functions and the outputs, thus needs to be embedded in the robot controller. This paper proposes a kind of hybrid control architecture which combines the key features of the two well-known robot control architectures; hierarchical and behavioral- based. The overall control architecture consists of three layers, i.e. the highest planner, the middle plan executor, and the lowest monitor and behavior-based controller. In the planned situation, only one behavior module is chosen by the logical coordinator in the plan executor according to the way point bin. In the exceptional situation, the central controller in the plan executor issues an additional control command to reach the planned way point. Several simulations and experiments with autonomous mobile robot show that the proposed architecture enables the robot controller to achieve the multiple sequential goals even in dynamic and uncertain environments.

The Effect of Noise and Display Orientation on Cognitive Performance

  • Military personnel encounter a variety of noise environments. During exercises, high intensity noise levels are often encountered. Twenty-four subjects were required to respond to symbols presented under two levels of task difficulty, two levels of presentation rate, two levels of display orientation, and three levels of noise intensity. The purpose of the experiment was to determine whether noise intensity and display orientation had any effect on a short-term memory task. Results showed that continuous white noise at intensity levels of 30, 85, and 105 db had no effect on the shortterm memory task. Presentation rate and task difficulty demonstrated a significant relationship with task performance as did their two-way interaction. This two-way interaction between presentation rate and task difficulty exhibited a different pattern for the two levels of display orientation.

The Relationship between Children's Literacy and Writing with a Computer (유아의 문식성과 컴퓨터로 쓰기와의 관계에 대한 연구)

  • This study explored the linkage between literacy and writing with a computer in three-to five-year-old children. The 57 subjects were closely observed as they produced written language forms using the word processing program, Araeha Hangul. Stages of writing with a computer were developed to assess the children's computer-writing. While writing with a computer, children invented letters, words, and sentences in an experimental and playful way. Children's writing with computer improved with age. There was a positive correlation between writing with a computer and writing with a pencil. In this way, computer writing was found to be part of written language development.

Measuring Trusts And The Effects On The Consumers' Buying Behavior

  • Purpose: Trust plays an important role in e-commerce because consumers perceive more risk involved with this type of shopping than traditional way of shopping. Trust is defined as complex and multidimensional issue. This paper argues that trust should be considered to have two important components as trust belief and trust intention, in which trust belief has three components as competence, integrity and benevolence. Research design, data and methodology: This study examines the relationship between retailer website quality (web design, navigation, information), reputation and risk toward trust. In addition, trust and risk toward buying behavior are also considered, leading to customer satisfaction. The paper is conducted on a sample of 594 customers with direct experience of online shopping in Vietnam. Both confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and a structural equation model (SEM) were utilised. Results: Empirical findings from this paper indicate that trust is high order construct. Website quality and reputation have positive impacts on customers' trust. Trust has a positive relationship to buying behavior and customers' satisfaction while perceived risk has negative relationship to buying behavior. In contrast, a relationship between perceived risk and trust is not supported in this study. Conclusions: Improving reputation and website quality (especially information) may increase customers' trust and eventually lead to purchase decision.

Effects of Emotional Labor and Communication Competence on Turnover Intention in Nurses (간호사의 이직의도, 감정노동, 의사소통능력 간의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among turnover intention, emotional labor, and communication competence in nurses. Methods: The participants for this study were 297 nurses from three general hospitals in two local cites in Korea. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaires from August 26 to September 10, 2013 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, One-way ANOVA, t-test, Pearson Correlation, Stepwise Multiple Regression with the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: The average scores for turnover intention, emotional labor, and communication competence respectively, were 3.45, 3.08, and 3.44 out of 5. The novices recognized that their emotional labor and turnover intention were significantly higher, and their communication competence was lower than other nurses. Nurses' turnover intention had a positive relationship with their emotional labor, but no relationship with communication competence. Job satisfaction, frequency of emotional expression, and emotional dissonance had an effect on nurses' turnover intention. Conclusion: The results show that emotional labor and job satisfaction are very important factors affecting nurses' turnover intention. So, nurse managers should try to minimize nurses' emotional labor and maximize their job satisfaction by developing various human relationship educational and support programs and using them.
