Fatigue Life Evaluation on Compressive & Tensional Residual Stress Induced Materials and Residual Stress Measurement using Hole Drilling Method (HDM을 이용한 잔류응력측정과 압축·인장 잔류응력이 인가된 재료의 피로수명평가)

  • This paper Investigated the characteristics of residual stress in weld is composed of typical specimens, are investigated by using three dimensional thermal elasto-plastic FEM analysis. Numerically calculated residual stresses in the gas welds were then compared with experimental results obtained by the hole-drilling method. Using the stress amplitude (${\sigma}a$)R at the hot spot point of gas weld, the relations obtained as the fatigue test results for typical specimens having various dimensions and shapes were systematically rearranged to obtain the (${\sigma}a$)R-Nf relationship. It was found that more systematic and accurate evaluation of the fatigue strength of plug- and ring-type gas-welded joints can be achieved by using (${\sigma}a$)R.

  • In this paper, we discuss carrier trapping model and trap characteristics of nitrided oxide thin film. Based on the experimental results, the carrier trapping model for system having multi-traps is proposed and is fitted with experimental data in order to determine trap parameter of nitride oxide and O2 annealed nitrided oxide. As a results of curve fitting, the heavy nitridation of oxide introduces three kinds of traps with capture cross section $\sigma$n1=1.48$\times$10$^{-17}$ $\textrm{cm}^2$, $\sigma$n2=1.51$\times$10$^{-19}$ $\textrm{cm}^2$, $\sigma$p=1.53$\times$10$^{-18}$ $\textrm{cm}^2$ and corresponding trap densities Nnl=2.66$\times$10$^{12}$ Cm$^{-2}$ , Nn2=1.32$\times$10$^{12}$ Cm$^{-2}$ , Np=8.35$\times$10$^{12}$ Cm$^{-2}$ .

  • In this paper, the low voltage 3V Sigma-Delta Digital Analog Converter(DAC) is designed for using in the transmitter of ADSL analog front-end. We have developed the CMOS DAC according to ANSI T1.413-2(DMT) standard specifications of the chip. The designed 4th-order DAC is composed of three block which are 1-bit DAC, 1st-order Switched-Capacitor filter and analog active 2nd-order Resistor-Capacitor(RC) filter. The HSPICE simulation of the designed DAC showing 65db SNR, is connected with 1.1MHz continuous lowpass filter. And also, we have performed the circuits verification and layout verification(ERC, DRC, LVS) followed by fabrication using TSMC 2-poly 5-metal p-substrate CMOS $0.35{\mu}m$ processing parameter. Finally, the chip testing has been performed and presented in the results.

  • As more individuals and organizations participate in the complex design process of manufacturing industry, collaborative product development and management of the global supply chain have become more popular. Although the product quality concerns once focused on the manufacturing process, they are now directed at earlier stages of the design cycle where the engineering product is created as a 3D CAD model. In this paper, we describe the current state of product data quality activities in the manufacturing industry and the yardstick to measure 3D CAD data quality. Moreover we introduce a quality assurance method through the result of statistical analysis of 3D CAD models and suggest a six sigma level of CAD data quality by analyzing 76 samples provided from three Korean automotive companies.

  • The two-dimensional elastoplastic analysis was peformed to reveal a detail residual stress distribution of ceramic/metal joint specimen using finite element method and X-ray method. The highest tensile residual stress, ${\sigma}_x$ perpendicular to the interface appeared at the edge of the ceramic near the interface. In the vicinity of the interface, the high stress concentration occurs and residual stress distributes three-dimensionally. Therefore, the measured stress distribution differed remarkably from the result of the two-dimensional finite-element analysis. Especially at the center of the specimen near the interface, the residual stress, ox obtained from the finite element analysis was compressive, whereas X-ray measurement yielded tensile ${\sigma}_x$. Therefore, it is also attempted to investigate the finite element model for the prediction of residual stress ${\sigma}_x$ distributed nearly the interface of joint.

  • It is much expected that steel bridges, which have been damaged by increase of vehicle load and corrosion, need repair or strengthening. In this paper, the stress generated by repair welding under loading are analyzed by three dimensional elasto-plastic analyses. The longer and deeper repair weld line bocemes, the larger the magnitude of transient stress becomes. The magnitude of transient stress generated by repair welding under loading $({\sigma}_y/3,\;{\sigma}_a)$ is similar to summation of stresses generated by repair welding and loading. The longer repair weld line ratio(1/b) becomes, the larger the magnitude of transient stress generated by repair welding under loading bocomes. And, the longer repair weld line ratio(1/b) becomes, the larger the magnitude of in-plane displacement generated by repair welding under loading$({\sigma}_y/3,\;{\sigma}_a)$.

  • We collected data of hydraulic fracturing tests and overcoring tests conducted in 84 boreholes in the south-east Korea in order to analyze the contemporary state of stress in this region. The average direction of the maximum horizontal stress was determined to be $N66^{\circ}{\pm}31^{\circ}E$. The relative magnitudes of the three principal stresses was ${\sigma}_v$ (vertical stress) < ${\sigma}_h$ (minimum horizontal stress) < ${\sigma}_H$ (maximum horizontal stress), indicating thrust fault stress regime.   • Fluctuating climate is still most important environmental constrain, although improved modem agricultural technology has succeeded to increase crop production in the world. To stabilize the food production under fluctuating weather conditions, it is very needed to obain the quantitative information of interactions between crops and climate. The main purpose of this paper is three hold. Using the JIBP-data, the dry matter accumulation of rice crops is studied in relation to weather indexes (\SigmaTa and \SigmaSt). Temperature dependence of the yield index of rice is analyzed as to air temperature and water temperature. \SigmaT$_{10}$ -fluctuations are studied using meteorological data at various stations. The possible shift of \SigmaT$_{10}$ -isopleths due to climate fluctuation is evaluated. The second interest is in the plant climate of rice crops. Using results of canopy photosynthesis, it is pointed that the canopy structure has most important implication in plant climate. Leaf-air, stomatal, and mesophyll resistances of rice crops are described in relation to weather conditions. The change in light condition and aerodynamical property of rice crops with the growth is illustrated. The energy partition is also studied at different growing stages. Third point is to show in more detail effective countermeasures against cold irrigation water and cool summer. Heat balance of warming pond and polyethylene tube as a heat exchanger is studied to make nomo-grams for evaluating the necessary area and necessary length. Effects of windbreak net on rice crops are illustrated by using experimental and simulation results.lts.

  • The sand-eel, Ammodytes personatus GIRARD, "Kka-na-ri" is an important commercial fish inhabiting the coastal waters of Korea. The numbers of vertebrae (except urostyle) waR statistically analysezed based on the samples collected at three major fishing localitie" Jumunjin (East Sea), Geoje Island (southern coast) and Baegryeong Island (Yellow Sea) from May 1978 to June 1979. It was found that there was a very distinct difference in the numbers of vertebrae in the samples.rae in the samples.

  • This paper is concerned with a six sigma green belt training program. Comparative studies of existing training programs for three major companies (Samsung Electronics Company, Hyundai Motor Company, and LG Chemical Ltd.) and two consulting firms (Korean Standards Association and Korea Management Association) are performed. Based on the comparative studies, a cyber green belt training program is developed. The training program, which is composed of 34 modules, follows a disciplined process of five macro phases: define, measure, analyze, improve, and control (DMAIC). This cyber training program is serviced in the homepage http://ise.chonbuk.ac.kr/∼sixsigma. It has been utilized as one semester subject of "Six Sigma Quality Management" in the department of industrial engineering. The advantage and disadvantage of this cyber training program are also discussed.
