Design of a Tele-centric Wide Field Lens with High Relative Illumination and Low Distortion Using Third-order Aberration Analysis

  • This paper presents a design method for improving the low relative illumination and large distortion due to widening the field of a system. A tele-centric optical system in image space was suggested to increase the relative illumination. Through the analyses of the third-order aberrations affected by introducing aspherical surfaces, we have proposed a method to determine analytically what surface should be aspheric to correct each aberration effectively. By utilizing this method to design a wide field lens, a tele-centric wide field lens with f-number of F/2.0 was obtained. Even though the field angle is 120 degrees, it has a very low distortion less than -2% and high relative illumination more than 73.7%. In conclusion, this analytic method for selecting aspherical surfaces is expected to serve as a useful way to find design solutions.

  • 극자외선 과장을 사용하는 micro-lithography를 위해 등배율을 갖는 4-반사경 holosymmetric system을 설계하였다. Holosymmetric system에서는 모든 차수의 코마와 왜곡수차가 영이 된다. 이 원리를 4-구명경계에 적용하여 등배율을 갖고 5개의 3차 수차가 모두 제거된 4-구면 반사경 holosymmetric system에 대해 유일한 해를 완전히 해석적인 표현으로 구하였다. 이 4-구면경계에 남아있는 고차 수차들을 보정하기 위해 holosymmetric 성질을 유지하면서 비구면을 채용하였고 그결과 개구수 0.33과 image field diameter 7.6mm 이내에서 극자외선 파장 $0.248{\mu}m$(KrF 엑시머 레이저 빔)에 대해 거의 회절한계의 수차성능을 갖는 비구면 4-반사경 holosymmetric system를 얻었다.

Analytic Design Procedure of Three-mirror Telescope Corrected for Spherical Aberration, Coma, Astigmatism, and Petzval Field Curvature

  • There are total eight degrees of freedom in designing a three-mirror system. If we correct four kinds of third order aberrations and the system should have the specified effective focal length, the remaining three degrees of freedom can be used for selecting a suitable configuration for a specific application. We suggest an analytic design procedure for a three-mirror telescope system which has a suitably sized secondary mirror and proper separations between mirrors, and is corrected for four kinds of third order aberrations, spherical aberration, coma, astigmatism, and field curvature. Two design examples are shown. One has a compact configuration with off-axial field, the other has relatively long configuration with annular ring field.

Compact Zoom Lens Design for a 5x Mobile Camera Using Prism

  • This study presents the compact zoom lens with a zoom ratio of 5x for a mobile camera by using a prism. The lens modules and aberrations are applied to the initial design for a four-group inner-focus zoom system. An initial design with a focal length range of 4.4 to 22.0 mm is derived by assigning the first-order quantities and third-order aberrations to each module along with the constraints required for optimum solutions. We separately designed a real lens for each group and then combined them to establish an actual zoom system. The combination of the separately designed groups results in a system that satisfies the basic properties of the zoom system consisting of the original lens modules. In order to have a slim system, we directly inserted the right-angle prism in front of the first group. This configuration resulted in a more compact zoom system with a depth of 8 mm. The finally designed zoom lens has an f-number of 3.5 to 4.5 and is expected to fulfill the requirements for a slim mobile zoom camera having high zoom ratio of 5x.

Zoom Lens Design for a 10x Slim Camera using Successive Procedures

  • This study presents a new design method for a zoom lens, in which real lens groups are designed successively to combine to form a lens modules zoom system. The lens modules and aberrations are applied to the initial design for a four-group inner-focus zoom system. An initial design with a focal length range of 4.2 to 39.9 mm is derived by assigning the first-order quantities and third-order aberrations to each module along with the constraints required for optimum solutions. After obtaining the lens module zoom system, the real lens groups are successively, not separately, designed to get a zoom lens system. Compared to the separately designed real lens groups, this approach can give a better starting zoom lens and save time. The successively designed groups result in a zoom system that satisfies the basic properties of the zoom system consisting of the original lens modules. In order to have a slim system, we directly inserted the right-angle prism in front of the first group. This configuration resulted in a compact zoom system with a depth of 12 mm. The finally designed zoom lens has an f-number of 3.5 to 4.5 and is expected to fulfill the requirements for a mobile zoom camera having high zoom ratio of 10x.

Lens Design of Camera through Optimization of the Third Order Seidel Aberration and Statistical Tolerance Analysis

  • There has been much advancement in the field of aerial cameras for geographical features with the help of drones, image processing power and computer aided optical programs. In this study, we propose a new optical lens design technique which minimizes the amount of ‘the third order Seidel aberration’ for enhancing MTF. In addition, we suggest a new optical lens design which stabilizes the mass-production yield through R.S.M and has robustness secure through the Taguchi method. Eventually, the image processing algorithm of stereo matching is implemented in order to evaluate whether the proposed lens design result meets adequate specifications for the use of dual aerial photographs or not. This paper provides good guidance for the optical design by development of experiments.

  • A design of a four-mirror optical system for submicron lithography using KrF excimer laser beam(λ=248nm) is presented. By using the third order aberration theory, analytic solutions for a telecentric, flat-field, and anastigmatic four-spherical-mirror system (reduction magnification 5$\times$) are found. Aspherization is carried out to the spherical mirror surfaces in order to reduce the residual higher order aberrations and vignetting effect. Finally we obtain a reflection system useful in submicron lithographic application.

등가렌즈 변환의 일반화와 일반화된 등가렌즈의 3차수차식 (Generalization of equivalent lens conversion and third order aberration formulae of the generalized equivalent lens system)

  • 지금까지 광학설계에서 사용되던 등가렌즈 변환은 렌즈가 공기중에 있다는 전제조건하에서 유도 되었기 때문에 접합렌즈계의 설계에서 부적절한 해를 얻는 경우가 있었다. 본 연구에서는 두꺼운 렌즈에서 등가렌즈로의 변환 및 이의 역변환과정을 어떠한 전제조건도 사용하지 않도록 일반화하였으며 일반화된 등가렌즈에 대한 3차수차식을 유도하였다. 일반화된 등가렌즈 변환을 2매 접합렌즈와 3매 접합렌즈의 변환에 적용시켜 본 결과, 일반화된 등가렌즈 변환이 두꺼운 렌즈의 3차수차를 잘 근사하고 있음을 확인하였다.

적외선 및 가시광선 결상용 3반사망원경계의 설계 (Optical design of three-mirror telescope system for infra-red and visible imaging)

  • 적외선, 가시광선 겸용의 3반사망원경계를 설계하기 위하여 형상설계법 및 3차수차의 보정방법이 연구되었다. 적외선용의 광학계는 3반사경계만으로 구성되었으며 원추곡면화를 통하여 구면수차, 코마, 비점수차를 보정하였다. 가시광선용의 광학계는 적외선용의 3반사경계의 상면앞에 보정렌즈를 추가하여 상면만곡을 보정하였다. 설계된 3반사망원경계는 파장 10.mu.m에서는 시계 2.4.deg. 내에서 회절한계의 결상성능을 가지고 있다. 가싣광선대역의 단파장에 대한 rms spot size는 3.deg. 시계내에서 25.mu.m이하이며, CCD의 사용에 적합하도록 flat field 조건을 만족하고 있다.
