The purposes of this study was to investigate the effect of inductive Instructional method and deductive one concerning the learners' population genetic concepts and achievement according to learners' cognitive characteristics. For the study, 180 students were sampled from a boys' high school: 90 students for inductive teaching method and 90 students for deductive teaching method. Group Assessment of Logical Thinking(GALT) and Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT) were used as the measure of cognitive characteristics. The results of this study were as follows. 1) The inductive instructional method was more effective in the understanding of population genetic concepts and their achievement. 2) Inductive instructional method was more effective than deductive one for the learners in formal operational level and in field independent cognitive style. 3) For the learners in a transitional level and field dependent cognitive style, deductive instructional way was more effective than inductive way on the average, but it was not statistically significant. It was turned out that learners' cognitive level was one of important factors when teachers instruct the concept of population genetics.
The purpose of this study was to explore the problem solving strategy for Goldberg machine tasks of the gifted students in elementary science depending on the cognitive style(tendency to field-dependent and field independent). It was aimed to provide suggestions for the features and differences of the problem solving strategies of the gifted students in elementary science according to their cognitive styles. A total of 16 students, from the gifted class of P elementary school in Hwaseong were sampled for the research, cognitive styles Test was conducted to divide the students in teams, and the teams were classified according to cognitive style tendencies to five groups of field-dependent group, weak field-dependent group, mixed group, weak field-independent group and field-independent group. The Goldberg device task given was to make a Goldberg device within the angle framework of (Figure) 1, for a bead to start from the starting point and to reach the final point the last. The results are as follows: First, regarding the plan for producing the device, the stronger the field-independent tendency, they established more specific strategy-reflected plan; the stronger the field-dependent tendency, they established less specific strategy-reflected plan. Second, all cognitive style groups took a limited period of time into consideration, to fabricate the devices for the ball to arrive the last using a fine adjustment rather than many devices. Third, the field-independent group used a lot of logical reasoning; the field-dependent group used a lot of intuitive thinking. Fourth, the field independent group properly utilized strategies such as cooperation and role allocation; the field-dependent group tried to solve the task personally rather than cooperatively with poor role allocation. Fifth, the intermediate mixed group solved the problem better than the inclined groups such as field-dependent or field-independent groups.

The aesthetic sense in the orient contains both the truth and virtue. 2) The beauty of the mean It's from the thought of neutralization of Confucius. The mean or moderation state which in harmony with ethical virtue and aes-thetic beauty is the ideal and is the ultimate. Therefore the thought of Confucian is the creativity in which the balance and the har-mony is most important. Fashion design is also one of the representation of the mean because the spirit of the designer is harmonized for-mlessly with the object of the model of the fashion design. 2) The beauty of skillfulness It indicates the Taoism of Lao-tzu and Chuangtzu. It takes a super-artistic declar-ation that human can feel and recognize the color of colorlessness the sound of sound-lessness and the taste of tastelessness. The thought of arts affected by Taoism is 'ad-vanced age' called the beauty of skillfulness. The view of arts of lao-tzu takes the beauty of cosmos and the nature as a standard. Es-pecially the beauty of inactivity is recognized by the linkage between the beauty and the ugliness. And these things appear in fashion design as a design element such as humor or exaggeration. 3) The beauty of non-dualism It is thought of Buddhism that all evil passions of worry occur form the opposition in dualism. Finally this thought leads to that everything is consistent and truth is only one from the point of view that virtue and vice has on linkage that is 'no virtues no vices' and 'one with two, two, with one, one is not two' A big tendency like this became the root forma-tion of the thought of the oriental arts. 3. Characteristics of the oriental aesthetic sense on the present fashion design 1) The formation of the fashion design on the oriental elements In the picture-incantation which was a representation of an era when the thought of 'cosmic dual forces' dominated the basic polygons of 'a circle square triangle' means both 'one two three' and 'the negative positive mean' of cosmic elements. A thought of Buddhism which is 'Colors are colorlessness and Clolorlessness are color's proves that. 3) The pattern and symbolic representation of the fashion design on the oriental elements The pattern as a visual style is a figure of symbolic representation which adopt the mental and physical world of human and are the compo-sition of artistic revelation of the human nature and the religous thought of incantation. Es-pecially the symbolic representation of the oriental thought of Confusion. Buddhism and Taoism There are patterns such as plants aminals the oriental four gods and geometry. From the above it's the time toward the 21'th century when the world is constructing one global area and one historical zone. And the exotic mood of the Orient represented in the fashion which doesn't make the common feeling in general does not cease to develop only to express the visual modeling but also adopts the thought religion and the art which are the root of the Orientail and contains inherent willing of modeling.
This thesis has examined Jo Guimyeong's observation method and rhetoric of style of writing style. He tried to look at the world differently through observation and expressed relationship with the world through the style of comic. $J{\breve{o}}nggwan$ is a new way of looking at subjects and objects. It trust the senses and thoughts of the subject. So It is to clarify the circumstances and logic of the world from one's own point of view. In this case, it collides with the common thinking of the day. He put the reason and the action standard in the "taste" and the "mind". This means three things. First, he is proud that his reasons and actions are no different from those of a saint. Second, an individual is an independent being with different emotions and thoughts. What he gained from the three stages of $J{\breve{o}}nggwan$(靜觀)' is the 'great mind'. The first step is self-reflection. It is the process of objectifying oneself. The second target is the appearance of things. It's about looking at everything equally, whether it's precious or vulgar. The third object of observation is a harmonic. He is joining the movement of the harmonizers. Therefore, one's own reasons, actions, and works of literature share the same meaning as those of a harmonizer. It is incontestable that the essence of the current fever of well-being is pseudo-ideology, which is the commercialized well-being. Nevertheless, the potential value as the cultural contests of Korean Design, reaching the philosophy of well-being, must not be overlooked. Being more than its dictionary meaning of 'happiness' and 'welfare', well-being aims peace of mind and richness in mentality, thus supports the life style of 'Body-Mind Monism'. As a trend that has taken a ride on the consumerism, it is inevitable to excavate the benign cultural value that an ordinary sign of well-being lacks in order to create a peculiar model of Korea's design contents by sublimating the commodity aesthetic of well-being into an alternative argument possessing the cultural identity of Korea. Well-being, not much different form an attitude of following the 'ways of nature', is a typical model of non-dualistic thinking of East Asia. By tracing back to the indication of well-being that already existed in the non-dualistic thought and design of East Asia, the genealogy connecting the current phenomena of well-being to the Body-Mind Monism can be found in the cultural traditions of as close as Korea and as far as East Asia. In the case of adopting the monistic way of East Asian thinking that sees body and mind as one not two as the theoretical background of well-being imported fro the West, it is expected to provide a solution for the design discourse of Korea to be out of colonialism. Well-being contributes to the monistic awareness in the period of self-reflected modernization, which needs to search new values based on the reconsideration of dualistic paradigm centered on the Western culture, thus it is worth putting anticipation on the potential significance well-being would have in the field of national as well as international design world.

This study looks at theologies and assertions on new graphic concept, which is called the New Wave of graphic design by classifying the plans of into form and contents, and analyzes its specialty in design. Also, this study examines the overall trends of non-Grid editorial design since the modern style. By doing so, I could have a general look at the progressive traits and their futuristic directions that become to have a shorter life cycle with the advent of the 21st century's information era, high-tech media and the change of production environment by digital technology.
Among many modelling factors which consist of a screen, a form brings a child's psychological response, according to its being drawn and expressed shape, and would be defined as a visual descriptive method which transmits the relation between the subject and background by a story content and the circumstance and emotion of characters in the story. In this study, to analyze how an expressed form on a screen works to a child visually and psychologically, I, first have examined how differently a child's perception development and its experience to the form is come out by the age of a child, and have found that it influences on a child's originality and creativity development, visual and psychological thinking development, and the stimulation on dream and imagination. And I have examined each characteristic by discriminating the expressive style of the form into a reproductive, a simplified, an exaggerated and a distorted form expression, and by utilizing it as substantiative data through the 1st and 2nd stage, have analyzed responses and preferences according to a style of a child's expression form. In conclusion, I have considered that the analysis result through the substantiative study would be a help not only to the form expression which is based on an illustrator's personality and creativity, and also would be utilized in the effective expression method study and experiment of students who learns the illustration.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of clothes in modem Korean women in terms of a socioeconomical background, the introduction to western clothes, and the improvement of clothes between the opening period of ports in the early 1900's and 1960's. In addition, the study investigated how western clothes became popular in a Korean society along with the traditional' Korean clothes, Hanbok. The radical social change since the opening of ports motivated the change in the way of Korean women's thinking, and consequenty the improvement of Hanbok which developed into the clothes-improvement-movement. It was not until 1905 that the improvement of clothes was hotly debated particularly in the matter of abolishing Jangeui and the extreme length of Jeogori and Chima. The Tongchima-Jeogori style which lengthened Jeogori and shortened Chima was widely accepted as everyday wear until the western clothes substituted them after the Independence from Japanese Conquest. As the length of Chima shortened, there occurred a change in Boson and Jipsin as well. There appeared shoes and Gomoosin in place of Jipsin, socks in stead of Boson and were popularized until after the Liberation in 1945. The popularity of Gomoosin diminished markedly with the diversification of shoes styles, due to the improvement of the standard of living with economic development in the 1960's. The traditional Hanbok was gradually differentiated according to the social status, for instance student, teachers, ordinary women, girls and Kisaeng. Especially since the white clothes caused much trouble in washing and sewing, there came into being the movement of wearing colorful clothes. The Movement of abolishing white clothes and promoting of wearing colorful clothes was enforced during the period of Japaness conquest from the 1920's to the Liberation, which consequently stimulated an interest for colors of clothes. The period under the war between 1937 and 1945 was especially noted for the extreme regulation over the clothes. The Japanese government forced each group of women, e.g., girl students, a young women's association, school teachers, and ordinary women and girls, to wear their own uniforms. Also, It recommended the use of Tongchima in stead of long skirts, and buttons in place of Coreum so as to conserve textile encouraging the use of other substitutes to save resources. The western clothes, a model of clothe's improvement was deemed as a symbol of modernization and enjoyed general popularity. The supply of relief clothes after the Korean war accelerated the expansion of western clothes even further and the trend of westernization along with economic progress in the 1960's resulted in wearing of western clothes as everyday dress. The expansion of western clothes as casual wear rapidly diminished wearing of Hanbok which in turn took the position of ceremonial dress worn in special cases only. Hence the Korean women's clothes were dualized into traditional Hanbok and western clothes and the western clothes that stems on its convenience was settled as everyday wear where as the Hanbok appeared as ceremonial dress stressing on ornamental features. As mentioned aboved, we are able to discovered an orientation in the course of transitional process of modern Korean women's clothes admist diversified changes, which is a consistent pursuit of convenience and practicality based upon progmatism. The trend such as this carne into a finale' as women's dress became dualistic in forms of Hanbok and western clothes, and the change since then is supposed to proceed in two forms of dress featuring its own style.

Our educational system clearly places much greater value on left hemisphere learning. Students who process information in other ways are at a serious disadvantage and may not be learning efficiently. Since mind mapping emphasizing visual and spatial language, it helps students to use the whole brain and promotes more effective comprehension. The purpose of this research was to determine the effects of the instruction using mind map on the science achievement of students. A pretest-posttest control group design was employed. Subjects were 153 male and female, first grade students in a middle school. A control group of 83 was instructed with a traditional teaching method, and an experimental group of 70 was instructed by using a mind mapping strategy. Two groups were treated for 50 hours during 17 weeks. Tolerance's 'Style Of Learning And Thinking(SOLAT)' was used to assess students' lateralization preferences. A 30-item multiple choice posttest was used to assess students' achievement. To analyze the data, we used an analysis of covariance(ANCOVA) and i-tests. It was found that 21.6% of students was left brain dominant, 31.4%, right brain dominant and 47.1 % was integrated style. There was no gender difference in hemispheric dominance. Significant differences existed between the test scores when they were taught by using a mind map. Mind mapping turned out to be a valuable learning technique for the right brain students, helping them to achieve the same level of subject mastery as left brain students. There was a significant difference between males and females in relation to mind map application. Female scored significantly higher than males.
The purpose of this study was to delve into parents who turned their children into creative achievers in the East and the West in an attempt to determine the cultural generality and specificity of the rearing of gifted children. The subjects in this study were Western parents, who brought up Marie Curie, Einstein, Edison and Newton, and Eastern parents, who raised Lee Hwang, Lee lee, Jeong Yak-yong and Heo Nanseolheon. To compare their parenting characteristics, common denominators and differences, a variety of data were investigated, including historical records about the parents, biographies, critical biographies, autobiographies and letters. As to the common features of the parenting style of the eight Asian and Western parents, they were talented themselves or capable of educating their children in their talent areas, and provided them with optimal learning environments or chances without pushing them. They accentuated independent spirits and emphasized renovative and open way of thinking. And at least one parent in each family showed absolute support for their child. Regarding differences in parenting style between the East and the West, the Western parents urged their children to develop their talents with more intention, rather the Asian parents prized the well-rounded personality and growth of their children. The former interacted with their children in an horizontal manner, but the latter had a vertical relationship with their children. The former expressed their feelings in an active way, but the latter had their emotion in control. Besides, the Western parents disclosed themselves to their children by showing them even their mistakes or improper behaviors, whereas the Asian parents strived in everyday life to give their children a good example or a good role model.
