  • In the 4th Industrial Revolution situation it is essential to need the high quality of software in diverse industrial areas. In particular current software centered schools attempt to educate the creative thinking based coding to non-major students and beginners of computer. But the problem is insufficient on the definition and idea of the creative thinking based software. In addition in a aspect of coding education for non-major and new students we recognize to have no relationship between creative thinking methods and coding. In other words we should give them how to practically code and design through learning the creative thinking. To solve this problem we propose the codification of design thinking mechanism without the knowledge of software engineering through mapping creative thinking with software development process. With this mechanism we may expect for students to have some coding ability with the creative design.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how well middle school students understand space geometrical concept related to a cylinder. To this end, we developed the test tool based on prior research and examined 433 middle school students in November and December, 2018. And in March 2019, we interviewed 4 students who showed some type of errors. The difference in the correct answer rate of the questions by the grade and gender was tested, and the error type was analyzed based on the student's responses to the questions to evaluate the spatial reasoning ability. The results of this study are as follows. First, the difference by graders was not statistically significant in the questions evaluating spatial visual ability. On the other hand, in the case of the two questions for evaluating spatial measurement ability and spatial reasoning ability, the difference in the correct answer rate between the 7th graders and 8th is not significant, but the difference between lower graders and 9th was significant. Second, there was no significant difference in the spatial geometric ability of all girls and boys participating in this study. Third, analyzing the student's error type for an item which assessed spatial reasoning ability, we found that there are various error types in relation to visual, manipulative, and reasoning errors.

  • High school students' achievements in algorithmic problems, and figure-formatted and textual-formatted conceptual problems concerning stoichiometry, gaseous state, and solution, were measured by the Chemistry Problem Solving Ability Test. The relationships among the achievement scores in the three types of problems and cognitive variables such as logical thinking ability, mental capacity, and field dependence/field independence were examined. The portion of variance of explanation for each achievement score was also studied by a multiple regression analysis. The results showed that logical thinking ability was significantly correlated with the achievement score in the algorithmic problems, and accounted for the significant portion of the variance of the score. Mental capacity accounted for the significant portion of the variance of the score in the figure-formatted conceptual problems. Although field dependence/field independence was significantly correlated with all the achievement scores, it did not significantly account for any scores in multiple regression analyses. However, the magnitudes of correlation coefficients among the achievement scores were higher than those between the achievement scores and cognitive variables. The best predictor for each score was also found to be one of the other achievement scores. Educational implications are discussed.

  • This study was aimed to examine problem-solving ability of fifth graders on two types of mathematical essay problems, and to analyze the process of mathematical justification in solving the essay problems. For this purpose, a total of 14 mathematical essay problems were developed, in which half of the items were single tasks and the other half were data-provided tasks. Sixteen students with higher academic achievements in mathematics and the Korean language were chosen, and were given to solve the mathematical essay problems individually. They then were asked to justify their solution methods in groups of 4 and to reach a consensus through negotiation among group members. Students were good at understanding the given single tasks but they often revealed lack of logical thinking and representation. They also tended to use everyday language rather than mathematical language in explaining their solution processes. Some students experienced difficulty in understanding the meaning of data in the essay problems. With regard to mathematical justification, students employed more internal justification by experience or mathematical logic than external justification by authority. Given this, this paper includes implications for teachers on how they need to teach mathematics in order to foster students' logical thinking and communication.

  • Creative thinking and fusion diversity of the performing arts pursue the settlement of empirical value realization by assuming new communication by genre. This new value and communication can create a type of collective intelligence with a different attempt based on the individual communication and horizontal thinking of the masses. Therefore, the empirical value and communication of the 21st century convergence(fusion) performing arts is possible through new types and analysis, and also were understood as the horizontal creation structure of the artist. As a result, first, the concept of the right value of 'convergence' was perceived as empirical communication depending on the empirical thinking ability of genre artists. Second, off-genre and collaborative tendencies are due to cooperation based on intellectual ability and recognition of horizontal communication by genre. Third, in the collaboration, the public's individualized communication ability and universal communication recognition should be premised and perceived the empirical definition about the collective intelligence. In conclusion, it is concluded that empirical value and communication of convergence performing arts enable to the experimental creation of collective intelligence, and that the relationship structure extends to a meaningful transition of convergence interpretation and expression of performing arts.
