복부전방피부신경 영역의 자침으로 유발한 자율신경 및 위장관기능 변화에 대한 연구 (Responses of Autonomic Nervous System and Gastrointestinal Function to Acupuncture at Abdominal Anterior Cutaneous Nerve : A Pilot Study)

  • Objectives: This study is designed to identify the responses of autonomic nervous system and gastrointestinal function which are induced by acupuncture at abdominal anterior cutaneous nerve. Methods: This study is one group before and after pilot study. Subjects were treated once, after having been fasting six hours. They had before tests, labeling points for acupuncture, acupuncture, and after tests in order. The points of acupuncture were motor points of rectus abdominis where the abdominal anterior cutaneous nerve came to the skin from abdominal wall. Before and after tests were consisted of three things: Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging(D.I.T.I.), Heart Rate Variability(HRV), and Recording of bowel sounds. Results: There were significant differences on the skin temperature of upper body and the frequency of bowel sounds(p<0.001, p<0.001). The HRV parameters and volume of bowel sounds had no significant differences(p>0.05, p>0.05). Conclusion: Even though no significant differences in HRV parameters, the significant differences of skin temperature of upper body and frequency of bowel sounds could mean acupuncture at abdominal anterior cutaneous nerve could affect the autonomic nervous system and gastrointestinal function. However, this study had no group to compare with. Future randomized project should address this issue.

홍삼의 온열 효과와 복약 순응도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Thermal Effect and Medication Compliance of Red Ginseng Extract)

  • Purpose: To evaluate thermal effect and medication compliance of red ginseng extract. Methods: Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over clinical study was performed. Twenty four healthy, married women aged 30-45 years with FSFI score below 25 were randomly divided into two groups; red ginseng group(N=12) and placebo group(N=12). During the first 6-week period (Study1), each group was dosed with red ginseng or placebo twice a day. Before starting the second 6-week period(Study2), a crossover design was chosen with a 2-week break(Washout period). Interchanging two groups after Washout period, red ginseng and placebo were dosed to each group. The efficacy of thermal effect was measured with subjective warm sensation scale and lower abdomen temperature by Digital Infrared Thermographic imaging(DITI) before and after each 6-week period. A medication compliance was assessed after each 6-week period and the correlation medication compliance between Sasang Constitution and subjective warm sensation was analyzed. Results: Overall 23 participants completed the study. In subjective warm sensation scale, after taking placebo, all participants exhibited an improving trend, but there was no significant difference. In lower abdomen temperature by DITI, statistically significant objective thermal effect of red ginseng was also not shown. A medication compliance was higher in Yin constitution(Taeumin, Soeumin), and showed an upward trend with decreasing subjective warm sensation. But no statistically significant difference was exhibited. Conclusion: Statistically significant thermal effect of red ginseng was not shown in this study. We anticipate if a long-term clinical trial is practiced, significant thermal effect of red ginseng will be shown.

태연혈(太淵穴)의 유침 시간에 따른 체온 변화 -적외선체열촬영(赤外線體熱撮影)을 중심으로- (A Study on the Change of Body Temperature according to the Needle Remaining Time at LU9 - Through the D.I.T.I. Scan -)

  • Objectives : This study was performed to find the desirable remaining time of needle in the acupuncture treatment. Methods : The 21 volunteers were given acupuncture at LU9 vertically and needles were remained for 2 min, 10 min, 15 min, 30 min, respectively. The thermographic change induced by acupuncture was measured with Digital Infrared Thermographic Image at the following acupoints: LU11, LU10, LU9, LU8, LU5, LU1, and PC7. The statistical significance of thermographic change was evaluated using paired t-test and post hoc Wilcoxon test. Results : The most significant changes after acupuncture were produced when needles were remained for 10 min or 15 min. LU11, LU5, LU1, and PC7 were the point at which all of the remaining time produced significant change commonly. At LU11, the biggest change was produced when needle was remained for 15 min, while at LU5, LU1, and PC7, the biggest change was produced when needle was remained for 30 min, and the smallest change was produced when needle was remained for 10 min at all of acupoints of LU11, LU5, LU1, and PC7. The unbalance between left side and right was decreased the most largely in 15 min group. Conclusions : The results of this study suggest that the desirable remaining time of acupuncture needle might be 15 min.

전면 식생형 보강토 옹벽의 표면온도 저감 효과 (Reduction Effect on Surface Temperature of Reinforced Soil Wall with Vegetated Facing)

  • 본 연구에서는 장기식생이 가능한 전면 식생형 보강토 옹벽의 식생 환경 적합성을 모니터링하고, 전면벽체 표면온도 측정을 통해 한여름철의 콘크리트 옹벽 전면벽체의 온도 변화를 평가하였다. 이를 위해 장기식생이 가능하도록 식생 포대를 삽입한 특수 블록 벽체를 시공하여 구절초, 맥문동을 포함한 20여 종의 종자 식재 후 2년간 식생 환경을 관찰하였을 뿐만 아니라, 실제 크기의 식생 옹벽을 건설하여 한여름철 식생 및 무식생 옹벽의 전면벽체 표면온도를 비교 분석하였다. 식생 환경 모니터링을 수행한 결과, 장기 식생이 가능한 블록 내에 식재된 대부분의 식물 생장 상태는 양호한 것으로 나타났으며, 식생 포대를 삽입한 블록 벽체가 식물의 성장에 적합한 환경을 제공하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 한여름철의 식생 옹벽과 무식생 옹벽의 콘크리트 블록 표면의 온도 변화량을 측정한 결과, 식생 옹벽에 비해 무식생 옹벽의 표면온도가 높게 나타났다. 식생 옹벽의 전면벽체의 경우, 무식생 옹벽의 전면벽체에 비해 표면온도 증가율이 작게 나타난 반면, 냉각율은 더 크게 나타나 장기식생이 가능한 전면 식생형 보강토 옹벽은 식생을 통해 열섬효과를 완화하는데 효과적으로 작용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

석조문화유산의 박리검출을 위한 수동적 적외선 열화상분석의 적용성 연구 (Study on Applicability of Passive Infrared Thermography Analysis for Blistering Detection of Stone Cultural Heritage)

  • 이 연구에서는 석조문화유산의 박리를 비파괴적으로 검출하기 위해 방위와 시간에 따른 수동적 적외선 열화상기법의 분석조건과 적용방법을 설정하였다. 이 결과, 수동적 열화상은 대기온도, 일사량 및 일조방향에 민감하게 반응하여 각 시간대별로 서로 다른 온도분포 특성을 나타냈다. 특히 6~17시 사이에 주기적으로 변하는 일사량과 일조방향은 암석의 표면온도를 불균질하게 만들었고, 박리가 존재하는 경우 외부환경에 따라 열 이동 차이가 생겨 특정시간대를 제외하고 건전부와 박리부의 표면온도 차이가 발생하였다. 시간에 따른 수동적 열화상분석의 박리검출 특성을 살펴본 결과, 전반적으로 북측면을 제외한 모든 방위에서 대기온도와 일사량이 급격히 증가하는 9시와 10시에 박리검출이 용이하였다. 그러나 이 연구는 가을에 수행되어 사계절에 대한 영향을 모두 고려하지 못했고, 수동적 열화상분석을 통해 박리부의 정량적인 발생면적을 파악하기에는 어려움이 있었다. 따라서 추가적으로 사계절에 대한 수동적 열화상분석의 종합고찰과 능동적 열화상분석을 이용한 박리 정량화 모델링 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

DITI로 관찰한 Bell's palsy에 미치는 수기요법의 영향에 관한 임상적 연구 (The Clinical study of Su-Gi therapy's Effects on Bell's palsy by observing of DITI)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Su-Gi therapy for Bell's palsy by using DITI. Methods : We investigated 16 patients with Bell's palsy who had visited in the H Korean medicine hospital in Gyeonggi Province from December 27th, 2010 to April 8th, 2015. The Su-Gi therapy was done by 1 times daily. We evaluated the change of them by using Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging and Yanagihara's unweighted grading system. Results : There aren't meaningful differences in values for the meridian points in pretest and posttest which were observed by DITI of abnormal side and normal side. There are meaningful differences in values, for abnormal side and normal side of the meridian points in pretest and posttest of DITI. It was of significance that pretest Y and average ΔT of each the meridian points in the type of hyperthermia but not in the type of hypothermia. In the Correlation analysis of values of pretest and posttest, chaotic aspects of body heat distribution in the pretest change as a relatively consistent aspects in the posttest. It wasn't of significance that Correlation Analysis of Ups and downs in temperature of TE17 and Recovery speed observed by ΔY. In simple regression analysis of posttest's Y-system values against absolute ΔT by subtracting ΔTE17 from ΔST6, we didn't predict in the pretest, but could predict significantly in the posttest(Regression coefficient : -2.11) In the regression analysis result of the meridian points' ||pretest ΔT|-|posttest ΔT||, 陽白(GB14) and 頰車(ST6) are of significance (Total R-Square=0.447). But we couldn't obtain final regression analysis model. Conclusions: These results suggest that Su-Gi therapy may be effective for Bell's palsy.

Effects of SiC Particle Size and Inorganic Binder on Heat Insulation of Fumed Silica-based Heat Insulation Plates

  • Heat insulation plates of fumed silica were prepared by mixing fumed silica, SiC powder and chopped glass fiber by a high speed mixer followed by pressing of the mixture powder in a stainless steel mold of $100{\times}100mm$. Composition of the plates, particle size of SiC, and type of inorganic binder were varied for observation of their contribution to heat insulation of the plate. The plate was installed on the upper portion of an electric furnace the inside temperature of which was maintained at $400^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$, for investigation of heat transfer through the plate from inside of the electric furnace to outside atmosphere. Surface temperatures were measured in real time using a thermographic camera. The particle size of SiC was varied in the range of $1.3{\sim}17.5{\mu}m$ and the insulation was found to be most excellent when SiC of $2.2{\mu}m$ was incorporated. When the size of SiC was smaller or larger than $2.2{\mu}m$, the heat insulation effect was decreased. Inorganic binders of alkali silicate and phosphate were tested and the phosphate was found to maintain the heat insulation property while increasing mechanical properties.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical effect of Hwangryunhaedok-tang Herbal-Acupuncture. Hwangryunhaedok-tang is used in all heating diseases. Chest Heating Sensation is a unique concept in Oriental Medicine. So we applied Hwangryunhaedok-tang Herbal-Acupuncture to treat the Chest Heating Sensation. We used DITI(Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging) to estimate the temperatures of chest surface for the outcome assessment. We came to know that the chest surface temperatures were all reduced in both cases after Herbal-Acupuncture treatment. The reduced average temperature was $1.5^{\circ}C$ in case 1 and $0.9^{\circ}C$ in case 2. The above result indicates that Hwungryunhaedok-tang Herbal-Acupuncture treatment has an effect on Chest Heating Sensation, thus continuous Hwangryunhaedok-tang Herbal-Acupuncture study will be needed for more clinical applications.

신경병증성 통증 치료시 Gabapentin 투여에 따른 제통 효과와 체열상의 변화 -증례 보고- (Thermographic Changes by Administering Gabapentin in Neuropathic Pain -A report of three cases-)

  • Neuropathic pain originating from multiple condition of nerve cell injury is common, but is difficult to treat. Even though many drugs such as anti-convulsants, anti-depressants, NSAIDs, opioids have been used, their clinical analgesic action were not satisfactory due to occur severe side effects. Gabapentin was introduced in 1994 as a novel antiepileptic drug and has been used to treat partial seizure. After 1995 gabapentin treatment for reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) started, 45% of the reports about the analgesic efficacy of gabapentin were restricted to the treatments of non-epileptic pain syndrome. This drug is preferred to treat neuropathic pain because of a lower incidence of its side effects than those of other anti-convulsants and anti-depressants. For evaluating it's analgesic efficacy, the changes in the patients' subjective pain intensity was measured by the score on the visual analogue scale (VAS) and patient's objective pain intensity by measuring the skin temperature via infrared thermography were investigated respectively. Side effects of gabapentin were look into. We observed successful relief of neuropathic pain in the three patients which included post-herpetic neuraligia, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and diabetic neuropathic pain, and the side effects of gabapentin were at acceptable levels.

수족냉증 환자 치험 1례 (A Case Report of Cold Sensitivity of Hands and Feet Patient)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) on cold sensitivity of hands and feet. And we wanted that cold sensitivity of hands and feet was measured objectively and diagnosed definitely using Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging(DITI). Methods: The patient in this case was a 29-year-old female. The chief complaint was cold sensitivity of hands and feet. We treated her by TKM and evaluated the progress of symptoms by DITI. And then we compared DITI before treatment and after treatment. Results: After TKM treatment, the differences of temperature of hands and feet were decreased on DITI, respectively. Conclusion: TKM treatment is effective on cold sensitivity of hands and feet. And DITI would be valid to measure for treatment's effect of cold sensitivity of hands and feet.
