  • Recently the research for utilization of waste heat produced from electric power plants, casting factories, heat treating factories or commercial are being afforded by the need for energy saving. The objective of this study is to develop a thermoelectric generation system which unused energy from close-at-hand sources such as garbage incineration heat and industrial exhaust etc. into electricity. This paper a thermoelectric technology on a optimum system design method and efficiency and cost effective thermoelectric element on order to extract the maximum power output from energy conversion of waste energy. It is shown that the longitudinal stresses of module contacted with two point constrained Al tubes could be released more than those with a one-point constrained.

Bismuth Telluride 박막의 열전특성 개선을 위한 급속 열처리효과 (Improvement of Thermoelectric Properties of Bismuth Telluride Thin Films using Rapid Thermal Processing)

  • Effects of rapid thermal annealing of bismuth telluride thin films on their thermoelectric properties were investigated. Films with four different compositions were elaborated by co-sputtering of Bi and Te targets. Rapid thermal treatments in range of $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$ were carried out during 10 minutes under the reducing atmosphere (Ar with 10% $H_2$). As the temperature of thermal treatment increased, carrier concentrations of films decreased while their mobilities increased. These changes were clearly observed for the films close to the stoichiometric composition. Rapid thermal treatment was found to be effective in improving the thermoelectric properties of $Bi_2Te_3$ films. Recrystallization of $Bi_2Te_3$ phase has caused the enhancement of thermoelectric properties, along with the decrease of the carrier concentration. Maximum values of Seebeck coefficient and power factor were obtained for the films treated at $400^{\circ}C$ (about $-128{\mu}V/K$ and $9{\times}10^{-4}\;W/K^2m$, respectively). With further higher temperature ($500^{\circ}C$), thermoelectric properties deteriorated due to the evaporation of Te element and subsequent disruption of film's structure.

  • 가정과 같이 제한된 공간에서는 공조기의 온습도 조절이 어려워 질 수 있다. 최근에 들어서 사람들의 온습도에 대한 감성이 민감해 짐에 따라 실내 공기질에 대한 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 실내 공기질과 에너지 절약 사이의 모순을 해결 할 수 있는 방법으로 환기열회수장치를 제시하고 이러한 환기열회수 장치에 열전소자를 적용하여 온도 효율을 비교하고 시스템 능력을 검증해 보았다. 온도효율을 향상시키는데 전도성 가이드 베인과 단일 모터, 열전소자가 실험되었다. 단일 모터 사용시 23W를 절약 할 수 있었고 250 CMH의 능력을 가지는 개발된 시스템에서 통상적인 시스템과 비교해 냉방 주기 및 난방 주기에서 각각 4.01% 와 2.98%의 개선이 있었다.

  • 엔진에서 배기폐열을 회수하여 엔진의 열효율을 향상시키고자 하는 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 모터사이클용 엔진의 배기 폐열 회수용 열전발전 시스템의 성능 해석을 수행하였다. Gamma Tech.의 GT-SUITE 소프트웨어를 사용하여 엔진모사 모델과 열전발전 시스템 모델을 구성하였다. 첫째, 엔진 속도 1000~7000 rpm, 엔진 부하 0~100% 조건에서 엔진의 출력, 연비 등 성능 특성과 배기가스량, 배기가스 온도 등 배기가스 특성을 파악하였다. 연료의 화학에너지 대비 배기가스로 배출되는 에너지의 비율은 엔진 속도 및 부하에 따라 40~60% 수준으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 배기폐열회수용 열전발전 시스템 모델을 구성하였다. 엔진 모델과 열전발전 시스템 모델을 통합 해석하여, 열전소자에서 발생하는 전압, 전류, 회수 전력 특성 등을 분석하였다. 열전소자의 발전 특성은 시스템을 통과하는 배기가스의 온도 분포에 지배적인 영향을 받았다. 현재 구성된 배기폐열회수용 열전발전 시스템의 열전발전량은 배기폐열 에너지 중 최대 2.2% 수준을 회수할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 향후 연구에서는 열전발전 시스템의 설계에 따른 열전발전량 특성을 파악하고, 열전발전 시스템 설계 최적화를 수행할 예정이다.

Development of a Thermoelectric Cooling System for a High Efficiency BIPV Module

  • This paper proposes a cooling system using thermoelectric elements for improving the output of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) modules. The temperature characteristics that improve the output of a BIPV system have rarely been studied up to now but some researchers have proposed a method using a ventilator. The efficiency of a ventilator depends mainly on the weather such as wind, irradiation etc. Because this cooling system is so sensitive to the velocity of the wind, it is unable to operate in the nominal operating cell temperature (NOCT) or the standard test condition (STC) which allow it to generate the maximum output. This paper proposes a cooling system using thermoelectric elements to solve such problems. The temperature control of thermoelectric elements can be controlled independently in an outdoor environment because it is performed by a micro-controller. In addition, it can be operated around the NOCT or the STC through an algorithm for temperature control. Therefore, the output of the system is increased and the efficiency is raised. This paper proves the validity of the proposed method by comparing the data obtained through experiments on the cooling systems of BIPV modules using a ventilator and thermoelectric elements.

  • A mathematical model of electro-thermoelasticity subjected to memory-dependent derivative (MDD) heat conduction law is applied to a one-dimensional problem of a thermoelectric spherical cavity exposed to a warm stun that is an element of time in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. Utilizing Laplace transform as an instrument, the issue has been fathomed logically within the changed space. Numerical inversion of the Laplace transform is carried for the considered distributions and represented graphically. Some comparisons are shown in the figures to estimate the effects of MDD parameters and thermoelectric properties on the behavior of all considered fields.
