공기-물 열펌프 시스템의 비가역손실 해석 (Irreversibility Analysis of an Air-to-Water Heat Pump System)

  • Thermodynamic irreversibility analysis of an air-to-water heat pump system is analyzed in this study. This analysis shows the distribution of irreversibilities(true losses in thermodynamic sense) through the system components and informs us of a potential improvements with the irreversibility factor decreases. The results show that the largest irreversibilities occur in the motor-compressor unit. The remaining irreversibilities are distributed relatively uniformly through the other parts including utilization system. The increase of performance can be attained through either the improvement of adiabatic efficiency of motor-compressor unit(${\eta}_{mc}$) or the reduction of temperature difference(${\Delta}T$). With the decrease of utilization temperature($T_u$) COPH also increases but the exergetic efficiency decreases. The increase of COPH of about 0.05 can be accomplished with 1K decrease of ${\Delta}T$ or $T_u$.

  • Thermodynamic and economic analyses of various types of gas turbine combined cycle power plants have been performed to establish criteria for optimization of power plants. The concept of efficiency, in terms of the difference in energy levels of electricity and heat, was introduced. The efficiency of power and heat generation by power plants with other purposes was estimated, and power generation costs were figured out for various types of combined heat and power plants(i.e., fired and unfired, condensing and non-condensing modes, single or double pressure HRSG).

  • From the point of view of the second law of thermodynamics, house heating and cooling systems were analysed for saving energy. The analysis provides a theoretical basis for the heat-pump application. Also the efficiency of energy use is defined more rigorously by comparing the thermodynamic availability actually consumed in heating and cooling with the minimum thermodynamic availability required to do the same heating and cooling. It was found that the present 'Ondol' heating system has a heating efficiency of around $8\%$ according to the definition described here. Several schemes to inprove the efficiency are presented.

디젤기관의 아트킨슨 사이클화에 따른 제반성능의 열역학적 해석 (A Thermodynamic Analysis on the Performance with turning Diesel Cycle into Diesel-Atkinson Cycle)

  • In order to recognize thermal efficiency and power improvement in case that diesel cycle is turned into diesel-atkinson cycle, the fuel-air diesel-atkinson cycle considered gas exchange process is analyzed non-dimensionally and thermodynamically. As a result, in case of diesel-atkinson cycle, as expansion ratio is increased, thermal efficiency and mean effective pressure is increased and it has maximum value at Rec=1. When diesel cycle is turned into diesel-atkinson cycle by late intake valve closing timing, thermal efficiency and power is decreased because of the decline of effective compression ratio and intake airflow, but it could be compensated by increase of compression ratio or super-charged. In case compression ratio is compensated, Rec appears 1 around 100$^{\circ}$ ABDC, and it is expected that thermal efficiency is enhanced by 14.3% compared with conventional diesel cycle. In case compression ratio and intake airflow are compensated simultaneously, super-charged pressure is demanded 2.06bar at Rec=1 and it is more efficient when only compression ratio is compensated in the view point of thermal efficiency.

TIME-DEPENDENT DUST FORMATION IN NOVAE

  • The dust formation processes in novae are investigated with close attention to recent infrared observations. Using mainly the classical nucleation theory, we have calculated the time scales of dust formation and growth in the environments of novas. Those time scales roughly the typical observations. We have classified the dust-forming novae into three classes according to their explosion properties and the thermodynamic properties of dust grains. Oxygen grains form much later than carbon grains because of their thermodynamic properties. The effect of grain formation to the efficiency of stellar winds to drive the material outward is tested with newly obtained Planck mean values of dust grains.

  • 해양온도차발전용 유기랭킨사이클은 해양의 표층수와 심층수사이의 온도차를 이용하여 발전하는 사이클이다. 작동유체는 유기랭킨사이클의 열역학적 성능에 있어 중요한 요소이다. 유기랭킨사이클의 열역학적 분석방법으로 핀치포인트분석이 있다. 본 연구는 열교환기내 핀치포인트온도차의 변화와 열원 및 열침의 출구온도의 변화에 따른 열역학적 성능분석을 수행하였다. 핀치포인트분석법에 따라 설계한 해양온도차발전용 단순랭킨사이클에 7종의 단일 작동유체를 적용하여 열역학적 성능을 분석하였다. 성능분석결과 열교환기에서 핀치포인트온도차와 열원 및 열침의 온도변화가 작을수록 사이클 총 비가역성 및 총 엑서지 파괴인자가 감소하였으며, 제2법칙 효율은 상승하였다. 또한 비가역성은 열역학적 변화가 발생한 곳에서 크게 변화하였다. RE245fa2는 선정한 작동유체 중에서 가장 우수한 열역학적 성능을 보여주었으며, 모든 작동유체의 성능은 유사하였다. 열교환기 및 작동유체 선정에 있어 열역학적 성능과 함께 다양한 요소들에 대해서도 엄밀한 이론적 근거가 필요하다.

플라스틱병을 이용한 빙축시스템의 열역학적 성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Thermodynamic Performance of Plastic Bottle Ice Storage System)

  • This paper presents an anlaysis on the thermodynamic performance of ice storage system. The primary interest in this work is the exergetic efficiency of the system. The ice storage system considered here is the capsule type system with the waste plastic bottle being used as a capsule. To examine the characteristics of irreversibility production and exergetic efficiency in detail the ice storage system to be analyzed has been separated from the refrigerator in this analysis. The analysis is based on the lumped model with 3 uniform temperatures. The results indicate that 3 dimensionless parameters can describe the exergetic efficiency of the system, from which the characteristics of irreversibilities and the ranges of these parameters to ensure the reasonable performance of the system can be found. Experiments also have been performed to demonstrate the feasibility of such a system. This analysis only shows the performance of ice storage side, with the refrigeration side excluded. However, the results can be interpreted as a total performance if the refrigerator coupled with the ice storage system operatres reversibly.

  • 본 연구에서는 사이클은 터빈 출구로 부터 배출되는 폐열을 최대한 회수하여 얻은 증기를 연소기내에 분사시킴으로써 부가적인 압축기 및 비출력의 상향을 기할수 있다.아울러 폐열이용 암모니아 흡수기 냉동기를 구동하여 압축기 입구 온도를 낮 춤에 의해 열효율 및 비출력의 증대는 물론 대기온도 변화에 따른 기관 성능의 변동을 감소시킬 수 있다.

  • Hydrogen has long been recognized as a fuel having some unique and highly desirable properties, for application as a fuel in engines. Hydrogen has some remarkably high values of the key properties for transport processes, such as kinematic viscosity, thermal conductivity and diffusion coefficient, in comparison to those of the other fuels. Such differences together with its extremely low density and low luminosity help to give hydrogen its unique diffusive and heat transfer characteristics. The thermodynamic and heat transfer characteristics of hydrogen tend to produce high compression temperatures that contribute to improvements in engine efficiency and lean mixture operation.

  • Hydrogen has some remarkably high values of the key properties for transport processes, such as kinematic viscosity, thermal conductivity and diffusion coefficient. Hydrogen, as an energy medium, has some distinct benefits for its high efficiency and convenience in storage, transportation and conversion. Hydrogen has much wider limits of flammability in air than methane, propane or gasoline and the minimum ignition energy is about an order of magnitude lower than for other combustibles. Statistical thermodynamics provides the relationships that we need in order to bridge this gap between the macro and the micro. Our most important application will involve the calculation of the thermodynamic properties of the ideal gas.
