  • Metal electrode materials for plasma display panel should have low electrical resistivity in order to maintain stable gas discharge and have fast response time. They should also hae good film uniformity adhesion and thermal stability. In this study Cr/Cu/Cr metal electrode structure is formed by DC magnetron sputtering. Cr and Cu films were deposited on ITO coated glasses with various DC power density and main pressures as the major parameters. After metal electrodes were formed a heat treatment was followed at 55$0^{\circ}C$ for 20 min in a vacuum furnace. The intrinsic stress of the sputtered Cr film passed a tensile stress maximum decreased and then became compressive with further increasing DC power density. Also with increasing the main pressure stress turned from compression to tension. After heat the treatment the electrical resistivity of the sputtered Cu film of 2${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in thickness prepared at 1 motor with the applied power density of 3.70 W/cm$^2$was 2.68 $\mu$$\Omega$.cm With increasing the main pressure the DC magnetron sputtered Cu film became more open structure. The heat treatment decreased the surface roughness of the sputtered Cr/Cu/Cr metal electrodes.

  • In this study, some materials are organized and experimented with variables to obtain the optimum mix proportion for the mechanical property of halogen free flame resistance compound with varying addition of nano clay. Tensile strength, density and stiffness are tested in the room temperature. In this study, unlike existing layered structure, nano clay with tabular structure is used and sufficient stiffness, strength, thermal stability and gas block capability can be achieved with small amount of addition. Tensile strength and elongation test show high rupture strength only in specimens with compatibilizing agents while density test shows average measurement in all the specimens except T-9. It was confirmed that the measurement value according to the additives in compatibilizing agent or in nano clay of hardness test represents similarly.

  • Clinically-favored materials for bone regeneration are mainly based on bioceramics due to their chemical similarity to the mineral phase of bone. A successful scaffold in bone regeneration should have a 3D interconnected pore structure with the proper biodegradability, biocompatibility, bioactivity, and mechanical property. The pore architecture and mechanical properties mainly dependent on the fabrication process. Bioceramics scaffolds are fabricated by polymer sponge method, freeze drying, and melt molding process in general. However, these typical processes have some shortcomings in both the structure and interconnectivity of pores and in controlling the mechanical stability. To overcome this limitation, the rapid prototyping (RP) technique have newly proposed. Researchers have suggested RP system in fabricating bioceramics scaffolds for bone tissue regeneration using selective laser sintering, powder printing with an organic binder to form green bodies prior to sintering. Meanwhile, sintering process in high temperature leads to bad cost performance, unexpected crystallization, unstable mechanical property, and low bio-functional performance. The development of RP process without high thermal treatment is especially important to enhance biofunctional performance of scaffold. The purpose of this study is development of new process to fabricate ceramic scaffold at room temperature. The structural properties of the scaffolds were analyzed by XRD, FE-SEM and TEM studies. The biological performance of the scaffolds was also evaluated by monitoring the cellular activity.

  • NiSi is less stable than the previously-used $CoSi_2$ at high temperature. Some noble metals, such as Pd and Pt, have been added to NiSi to improve its thermal stability. We employed a first principles calculation to understand the Pd segregation at the interface. An orthorhombic structure of NiSi was used to construct an orthorhombic-NiSi/Si (010). Lattice parameters along a- and c-axes in orthorhombic-NiSi were matched with those of Si for epitaxy contact. The optimized $1\times4\times1$ orthorhombic-NiSi (010) and $1\times2\times1$ Si (010) superstructures were put together to construct the orthorhombic-NiSi/Si (010), and the superstructure was relieved in calculation to minimize its total free energy. The optimized interface thickness of the superstructure was $1.59\AA$. Pd atom was substituted in Ni and Si sites located near interface. Both Ni and Si sites located at the interface were favorable for Pd substitution.

  • Sulfonated poly(ether sulfone)s (PESs) with a network structure were prepared by heat-induced crosslinking of the allyl-terminated telechelic sulfone polymers using a bisazide and their structure was analyzed by $^1H$ NMR. Having both uniform distribution of the hydrophilic conductive sites and controlled hydrophobic nature by minimized crosslinking, the crosslinked polymer (PES-60) membrane offered excellent proton conductivity at high temperature with a good thermal stability. In addition, selectivity of the crosslinked membrane (PES-60) was more than three times than that of Nafion$^{(R)}$.

  • An interconnect is the key component of solid oxide fuel cells that electrically connects unit cells and separates fuel from oxidant in the adjoining cells. To improve their surface stability in high-temperature oxidizing environments, metallic interconnects are usually coated with conductive oxides. In this study, lanthanum nickelates ($LaNiO_3$) with a perovskite structure are synthesized and applied as protective coatings on a metallic interconnect (Crofer 22 APU). The partial substitution of Co, Cu, and Fe for Ni improves electrical conductivity as well as thermal expansion match with the Crofer interconnect. The protective perovskite layers are fabricated on the interconnects by a slurry coating process combined with optimized heat-treatment. The perovskite-coated interconnects show area-specific resistances as low as $16.5-37.5m{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ at $800^{\circ}C$.

  • Diamond Like Carbon film is amorphous film which is considered to consist of three coordinate graphite structure and tetrahedron coordinate diamond structure. Its hardness, thermal conductivity and chemical stability are nearly to one of diamond. It is well known to become semi-conductor by doping of inpurity. In this study Diamond Like Carbon film was synthesized by Microwave Plasma CVD in the gas mixture of hydrogen-methan-nitrogen and doped of nitrogen on the single-crystal silicon or silica glass. The temperature of substrate and nitrogen concentration in the gas mixture had an effect on the bonding state, structural properties and conduction mechanism. The surface morphology was observed by Scanning Electron Microscope. The strucure was analyzed by laser Raman spectrometry. The bonding state was evaluated by electron spectroscopy. Diamond Like Carbon film synthesized was amorphous carbon containing the $sp^2$ and $sp^3$ carbon cluster. The number of $sp^2$ bonding increased as nitrogen concentration increased from 0 to 40 vol% in the feed gas at 1233K substrate temperature and at $7.4\times10^3$ Pa. Increase of nitrogen concentration made Diamond Like Carbon to be amorphous and the doze of nitragen could be controlled by nitrogen concentration of feed gas.

  • Metallic glass alloys having dense packing structure have short range ordered structure with long range homogeneity. Therefore, they can provide complete corrosion protection and unique electrical properties. Recently, metallic glass thin films have received much attention to extend its application fields combining with PVC coating technologies. The metallic glass thin films can change the surface properties of the conventional bulk materials which need anticorrosion properties. However, multi-component alloying targets are required to fabricate the metallic glass thin films because metallic glass alloys contain more than three elements. Recently, many researchers have been reported the properties of the metallic glass thin films synthesized with multi-cathode systems or amorphous target. But, it is difficult to fabricate the large sized sputtering targets for mass production equipment with high toughness and thermal stability. In this study, newly developed sputtering target with glass forming ability and the properties of the metallic glass thin films will be introduced with respect to the various application fields such as bipolar plate in PEM fuel cell and decorative coatings for electric device and construction fields.

  • Chitin-based fibers have low mechanical strength and hence cannot be used as surgery fiber due to fast degradation In tissues. A new fiber Chitulose was made by mixing chitin with cellulose, both of which have similar structure. A mixture of dimethylacetamide (DMAc) and 6% lithium chloride (LiCl) was found to be an effective solvent system for dissolvoing chitin and cellulose. The Chitulose fiber made by wet spinning of a mixture of chitin and cellulose resulted in the highest degree of strength and flexibility when the ratio of chitin to cellulose was 1.5; 0.2. The fiber maintained mechanical structure even after autoclaving, indicating thermal stability. A biodegradability test of the Chitulose fiber by imbeding in a rat showed that degradation was initiated in 14 days and completely done in 40 days.
