  • Because of the development of LED technology, products due to high output and compact, the material with high thermal conductivity has been developed. Now that heat radiating part of the LED lamp is currently used for die casting of aluminum. The development of aluminum with excellent thermal conductivity is required. In this study, we measured the thermal properties and compared them while we produced the alloy by changing the component of die casting aluminum. From this study, the thermal conductivity and thermal resistance of the developed alloy were superior to die casting aluminum.

  • The objective of this paper is to study the deformation in a homogeneous isotropic modified couple stress thermoelastic medium with and without energy dissipation and with two temperatures due to thermal source and mechanical force. Laplace and Fourier transform techniques are applied to obtain the solutions of the governing equations. The displacement components, stress components, conductive temperature and couple stress are obtained in the transformed domain. Isothermal boundary and insulated boundary conditions are used to investigate the problem.The effect of two temperature and GN theory of type-II and type-III has been depicted graphically on the various components. Numerical inversion technique has been used to obtain the solutions in the physical domain. Some special cases of interest are also deduced.

  • In recent years, conventional streetlight is replaced by LED streetlight to reduce power consumption dramatically and to maximize lighting effects. However the characteristic of power LED itself driven by high current to increase the illumination, we need to develop effective heat release device. This study suggests new concept of heat dissipation device using PCM (Phase Change Material) and shows an experiment results to investigate thermal effects of PCM.

대용량 발전기 고정자 권선의 절연열화 특성 (Characteristics of Insulation Aging in Large Generator Stator Windings)

  • Insulation tests have been performed on two generator stator bars under accelerated aging under a laboratory environment. Electrical stress was applied to stator bar No.1, and electrical and thermal stresses were applied to stator bar No.2. Nondestructive stator insulation tests including the ac current, dissipation factor($tan{\delta}$), and partial discharge tests have been performed on both bars as the bars were aged for 11460 hours. Experimental test results show that ${\Delta}I$, ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$, and partial discharge of No. 1 and No.2 stator bars increased with increased in aging time. It has been concluded from the test that the stator insulation of the two generators are in good condition.

  • To reduce the wasted power with using an OP-AMP, 3 circuit supplying the same amount of power to load through overall voltage range can able proposed. With this type of design, the power that induced to the devices in the circuit will be reduced, we can also develope a small size power supply with the OP-AMP developed using this design. If we need a OP-AMP needed to handle higher power than usual, another design technique can be proposed. With substituting one device with the devices connected in series, the power loaded to each devices in the series devices can be reduced. This thesis contents the design of an OP-AMP to use in high power fields with small thermal dissipation.

  • High Voltage cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables are widely used in a thermal power plant. These cables had been in service for 26 years. The insulation condition of six 6 kV XLPE cables was estimated by insulation diagnostic analyzer (IDA) with voltage amplifier. IDA was measured dissipation factor and capacitance of the whole cable as a function of frequency and voltage. This system measures in the frequency range from 0.1 to 10 Hz at each voltage level. Six XLPE cables are judged good condition, but three cables are analyzed at an aged condition.

Entropy analysis in a cilia transport of nanofluid under the influence of magnetic field

  • In this study, analysis is performed on entropy generation during cilia transport of water based titanium dioxide nanoparticles in the presence of viscous dissipation. Moreover, thermal heat flux is considered at the surface of a channel with ciliated walls. Mathematical formulation is constructed in the form of nonlinear partial differential equations. Making use of suitable variables, the set of partial differential equations is reduced to coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Closed form exact solutions are obtained for velocity, temperature, and pressure gradient. Graphical illustrations for emerging flow parameters, such as Hartmann number (Ha), Brinkmann number (Br), radiation parameter (Rn), and flow rate, have been prepared in order to capture the physical behavior of these parameters. The main goal (i.e., the minimizing of entropy generation) of the second law of thermodynamics can be achieved by decreasing the magnitude of Br, Ha and ${\Lambda}$ parameters.

Boundary layer analysis of persistent moving horizontal needle in Blasius and Sakiadis magnetohydrodynamic radiative nanofluid flows

  • The boundary layer of a two-dimensional forced convective flow along a persistent moving horizontal needle in an electrically conducting magnetohydrodynamic dissipative nanofluid was numerically investigated. The energy equation was constructed with Joule heating, viscous dissipation, uneven heat source/sink, and thermal radiation effects. We analyzed the boundary layer behavior of a continuously moving needle in Blasius (moving fluid) and Sakiadis (quiescent fluid) flows. We considered Cu nanoparticles embedded in methanol. The reduced system of governing Partial differential equations (PDEs) was solved by employing the Runge-Kutta-based shooting process. Computational outcomes of the rate of heat transfer and friction factors were tabulated and discussed. Velocity and temperature descriptions were examined with the assistance of graphical illustrations. Increasing the needle size did not have a significant influence on the Blasius flow. The heat transfer rate in the Sakiadis flow was high compared with that in the Blasius flow.

  • This paper describes the design, fabrication, and measurement of ROIC(ReadOut Integrated Circuit) for $320{\times}256$ IRFPA(InfraRed Focal Plane Array). A ROIC plays an important role that transfer photocurrent generated in a detector device to thermal image system. Recently, the high performance and low power ROIC adding various functions is being required. According to this requirement, the design of ROIC focuses on 7MHz or more pixel rate, low power dissipation, anti-blooming, multi-channel output mode, image reversal, various windowing, and frame CDS(Correlated Double Sampling). The designed ROIC was fabricated using $0.6{\mu}m$ double-poly triple-metal Si CMOS process. ROIC function factors work normally, and the power dissipation of ROIC is 33mW and 90.5mW at 7.5MHz pixel rate in the 1-channel and 4-channel operation, respectively.

고온 복합재료의 경화 모니터링을 위한 유전센서의 개발 (Development of the Dielectric sensor for the Cure monitoring of the high temperature Composites)

  • The fiber reinforced composite materials is widely used in aircraft, space structures and robot arms because of high specific strength and high specific modulus. The on-line cure monitoring during the cure process of the composite materials has become an important research area for the better quality and productivity. In this paper, the dielectric circuit of the wheatstone bridge type for measuring the dissipation factor was designed and manufactured. Also, the dielectric sensor for the cure monitoring of the high temperature composites was developed. The residual thermal stresses of the dielectric sensor were analyzed by the finite element method and its dielectric characteristics under high temperature were evaluated. The on-line cure monitoring of the BMI resin was performed using the wheatstone bridge type circuit and developed high-temperature dielectric sensor.
