A new thermal inkjet printer head on SOI wafer with virtual valve was proposed. It was composed of two rectangular heaters with same size. So we could call it T-jet(Twin jet). T-jet has a lot of merits. It has the advantage of being fabricated with one wafer and is easy to change the size of chamber, nozzle, restrictor and so on. However, above all, It is the best point that T-jet has a virtual valve. And it was manufactured on SOI wafer. The chamber was formed in its upper silicon whose thickness was 40um. The chamber's bottom layer was silicon dioxide of SOI wafer and two heaters were located underneath the chamber's ceiling. And the restirctor was made beside the chamber. Nozzle was molded by process of Ni plating. Ni was 30um thick. Nozzle ejection test was performed by printer head having 56 nozzles in 2 columns with 600NPI(nozzle per inch) and black ink. It measured a drop velocity of 12m/s, a drop volume of 30pl, and a maximum firing frequency of 12KHz for single nozzle ejection. Throwing out the ink drop in whole nozzles at the same time, it was observed that the uniformity of the drop velocity and volume was less than 4%.
How the characteristics and stability of the rubbing-induced alignment of nematic liquid crystals (LCs) relate to the interfacial characteristics of LC-polyimide has been studied. The characteristics of the LC alignment (such as the LC texture, the pretilt angle, and the anchoring energy) and their thermal stability have been investigated for 5 polyimides synthesized for this work. The work showed that the rubbed polyimide alignment layer induces the strong LC anchoring and that the characteristics and stability of LC alignment are determined by the short-ranged interactions between LC and polyimide molecules at the alignment layer surface. The increased flexibility of the polyimide accelerates thermal imidization, increases the pretilt angle, and improves the alignment stability. It also turned out that fluorination of the polyimide tends to deteriorate the alignment uniformity and stability. No distinct differences in the alignment characteristics were shown for the aromatic- and alicyclic-dianhydride polyimides.

Polyimide (PI) multilayer thin films were prepared by spin-coating from a poly(amic acid) (PAA) and poly(amic acid) ammonium salt (PAAS). PI was prepared from pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) and 4,4'-oxydianiline (ODA) PAA. Different compositions of PAAS were prepared by incorporating triethylamine (TEA) into PMDA-ODA PAA in dimethylacetamide. PI multilayer thin films were spin-coated from PMDA-ODA PAA and PAAS. The PAAS comprising cationic and anionic moieties were spherical with a particle size of $20{\sim}40\;nm$. Some particles showed layers with ammonium salts, despite poor ordering. Too much salt obstructed the interaction between the polymer chains and caused phase separation. A small amount of salt did not affect the interactions of the interlayer structure but did interrupt the stacking between chains. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) showed that the average decomposition temperature of the thin films was $611^{\circ}C$. All the films showed almost single-step, thermal decomposition behavior. The nanostructure of the multilayer thin films was confirmed by X -ray reflectivity (XRR). The LF 43 film, which was prepared with a 4:3 molar ratio of PMDA and ODA, was comprised of uniformly spherical PAAS particles that influenced the nanostructure of the interlayer by increasing the interaction forces. This result was supported by the atomic force microscopy (AFM) data. It was concluded that the relationship between the uniformity of the PAAS particle shapes and the interaction between the layers affected the optical and thermal properties of PI layered films.

Use of sheet metal structure is increased in various fields such as automobile, aerospace and communication equipment industry. When this structure is welded, welding distortion is generated due to the non-uniformity of temperature distribution. Recently welding distortion becomes a matter of great importance in the structure manufacture industry because it deteriorates the product's quality by bringing about shape error. Accordingly many studies for solving the problems by controlling the welding distortion are being performed. However, it is difficult to remove all kinds of distortion by welding process, though various kinds of methods for reducing distortion are applied to production. Consequently, straightening process is operated if the high precision quality is requested after welding. The local heating method induces compression plastic deformation by thermal expansion in the heating stage and then leaves constriction of length direction in the cooling stage. Accordingly, in the case of sheet metal structure, straightening effect is expected by heating for the part of distortion. This study includes numerical analysis of straightening effect by the local heating method in distortion comes from production of welded sheet metal structure. Particularly straightening effect followed by dimensions of heating area is analyzed according to the numerical analysis. The numerical analysis is performed by constructing 3-dimensional finite element model for 0.4mm stainless steel-sheet metal. Results of this study confirm that straightening effect changes as heating area increases and the optimum value of heating area that proves the maximum straightening effect exists.

Laser-Induced Thermal Imaging (LITI) is a laser addressed patterning process and has unique advantages such as high-resolution patterning with over all position accuracy of the imaged stripes of within 2.5 micrometer and scalability to large-size mother glass. This accuracy is accomplished by real-time error correction and a high-resolution stage control system that includes laser interferometers. Here the new concept of hybrid system that complement the merits of small molecule and polymer to be used as an OLED; our system can realize easy processing of light emitting polymers and high luminance efficiency of small molecules. LITI process enables the stripes to be patlerned with excellent thickness uniformity and multi-stacking of various functional layers without having to use any type of fine metal shadow mask. In this study, we report a full-color hybrid OLED using the multi-layered structure consisting of small molecules and polymers.

Transparent film heaters (TFHs) based on Joule heating are currently an active research area. However, TFHs based on an indium tin oxide (ITO) monolayer have a number of problems. For example, heating is concentrated in only part of the device. Also, heating efficiency is low because it has high sheet resistance ($R_s$). To address these problems, this study introduced hybrid layers of ITO/Ag/ITO deposited by magnetron sputtering, and the electrical, optical, and thermal properties were estimated for various thicknesses of the metal interlayer. The $R_s$ of ITO(40)/Ag/ITO(40 nm) hybrid TFHs were 5.33, 3.29 and $2.15{\Omega}/{\Box}$ for Ag thicknesses of 10, 15, and 20 nm, respectively, while the $R_s$ of an ITO monolayer (95 nm) was $59.58{\Omega}/{\Box}$. The maximum temperatures of these hybrid TFHs were 92, 131, and $145^{\circ}C$, respectively, under a voltage of 3 V. And that of the ITO monolayer was only $32^{\circ}C$. For the same total thickness of 95 nm, the heat generation rate (HGR) of the hybrid produced a temperature approximately $100^{\circ}C$ higher than the ITO monolayer. It was confirmed that the film with the lowest $R_s$ of the samples had the highest HGR for the same applied voltage. Overall, hybrid layers of ITO/Ag/ITO showed excellent performance for HGR, uniformity of heat distribution, and thermal response time.

Encapsulant curing in terms of convection oven leads to thermal induced stress due to nonuniform thermal conductivity in LED package. We have adopted infrared (IR) light for silicone curing in order to release the stress. The light uniformity irradiated on an encapsulant surface is confirmed to be uniform by optical simulation. Shear strength of die paste using IR compared to convection oven is increased 19.2% at the same curing time, which indicates curing time can be shortened. The indentation depth difference between center and edge of silicone encapsulant in terms of convection oven and IR are 14.8% and 3.4%, respectively. Curing by IR also shows 2.3% better radiant flux persistency rate of LED at $85^{\circ}C$ after 1,000 h reliability test compared to convection curing.

This paper deals with design of heater trigger switching in a persistent current system(PCS) by finite element method(FEM) analysis of YBCO coated conductor(CC) tape. Most promising superconducting wire is YBCO coated conductor tape in these days for its high n value and critical current independency from external magnetic field. It is expected to be used many superconducting application such as fault current limiter and cable etc. The superconducting magnet which is operated in persistent current mode in SMES, NMR, MRI and MAGLEV has many advantages such as a high uniformity of a magnetic field and reducing a thermal loss. A PCS system consists of magnet power supply (MPS) which energized current to a magnet, heater, a coated conductor tape for switching, and superconducting magnet. In this paper, the characteristic of thermal quench of the YBCO CC tape and BSCCO tape by heater trigger analyzed by FEM. And optimal length of heater is calculated by temperature and time analysis. This heater trigger analysis is expected to be a basic concept of PCS application design.

Three types of samples with defects were measured by lock-in med-IR (infrared) thermography with various lock-in frequencies for different materials. The lock-in method can be used to detect defects when an external energy source is applied to the object, the non-uniformity of the incident thermal energy distribution is eliminated, and the camera's measurement cycle is synchronized with the load cycle of the incident energy source. For inspecting samples with defects, results of thermal images are analyzed when three types of materials, i.e., SM45C, STS316L, and AL6061 are tested and three lock-in frequencies, i.e., 0.08, 0.1, and 0.12 Hz are applied. In this study, the optimal lock-in frequencies were determined by comparing the results of each material and lock-in frequency measured using the mid-IR camera.
In Korea, drones, which are at the core of the 4th industrial revolution, are used to promote Korean New Deal policies to digitalize the SOC. Overseas, the use of convergence sensors, such as thermal imaging cameras, on drones is increasing in various industrial fields. In this research, to improve pavement quality in highway bridge pavement construction, a thermal imaging camera was mounted on a drone to measure and verify the temperature of the pavement work section. Using a laser thermometer allows the partial measurement of pavement temperature. It was confirmed that the proposed method allows not only real-time temperature monitoring of the whole pavement work section but also uniformity verification by checking temperature distribution. The proposed method has the potential to control highway pavement quality and enable quick decision-making on traffic opening times by reducing the possibility of misjudging road opening times(pavement surface temperature ≦ 40℃).
