승용차용 세라믹 촉매 담체의 열적 내구성의 실험적 평가 (Experimental Estimation of Thermal Durability in Ceramic Catalyst Supports for Passenger Car)

  • Ceramic honeycomb structures have performed successfully as catalyst supports for meeting hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide and nitrous emissions standards for gasoline-powered vehicles. Three-way catalyst converter has to withstand high temperature and thermal stress due to pressure fluctuations and vibrations. Thermal stress constitutes a major portion of the total stress which the ceramic catalyst support experiences in service. In this study, temperature distribution was measured at ceramic catalyst supports. Thermal durability was evaluated by power series dynamic fatigue damage model. Radial temperature gradient was higher than axial temperature gradient. Thermal stresses depended on direction of elastic modulus. Axial stresses are higher than tangential stresses. Tangential and axial stresses remained below thermal fatigue threshold in all engine operation ranges.

  • This study investigates changes in the mechanical behavior, such as changes in indentation load-displacement curve, wear resistance and contact fatigue resistance of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) by thermal cycling test and thermal shock test. Relatively dense and porous TBCs on nickel-based bondcoat/superalloy are prepared; the highest temperature applied during thermal durability test is $1350^{\circ}C$. The results indicate that the porous TBCs have relatively longer lifetime during thermal cycling and thermal shock tests, while denser TBCs have relatively higher wear and contact fatigue resistance. The mechanical behavior is influenced by sintering of the TBCs by exposure to high temperature during tests.

  • Studies that the vehicle exhaust system applied by the TEG(thermal electric generator) are actively in progress in order to improve the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Vehicle exhaust system is on a poor vibration condition, it is susceptible to TEG. This paper is about the development of vibration durability test of TEG mounted on a vehicle exhaust system. Vehicle driving tests are performed to measure the vibration condition of the vehicle exhaust system. The vibration durability test mode of TEG is evaluated using equivalent vibration energy method. The vibration durability tests of TEG are performed using the multi-axial vibration simulation table.

노트북에서의 방열을 통한 내구성 해석에 관한 연구 (Durability Analysis through the Radiation of Heat of a Laptop)

  • This study investigates the durability of the radiator and cooler of a laptop through a thermal analysis. In the result of this study, the maximum deformation happened at the part holding up the support stand at the radiator and cooler. The maximum thermal stress of the cooler was 60.939 Mpa, as low as that of the radiator. In addition, the safety factor of the cooler was 1.64 times as high as that of the radiator. The radiator of the laptop was less durable than the cooler. The result of this study could help with designing a laptop model with a durable radiator and cooler.

고온.고압용 3-way 볼밸브의 특성해석 (A Characteristic Analysis of High Pressure and High Temperature 3-way Ball Valve)

  • 3-way ball valves have been mostly used for high temperature/high pressure valves using in petrochemical carriers and oil tankers, which requires high quality products with confidentiality and durability. As a larger disaster may be generated by leakage of oil or gas from valves, thus the present research applied a numerical analysis method with thermal-structural coupled field analysis and the performance test. The Max stress by parts was confirmed through thermal-structural coupled field analysis and develop the 3-way ball valve design, which is safe on operating condition. And its performance was verified by carrying out pressure test, leakage test and durability test for the manufactured 3-way ball valves with satisfying it's regulations.

Inconel 625 열용사 코팅 층의 고상입자 침식 거동 (Solid Particle Erosion Behavior of Inconel 625 Thermal Spray Coating Layers)

  • 본 연구는 손상된 선박용 절탄기 핀튜브에 대하여 보수를 목적으로 Inconel 625 아크 열용사 코팅기술 적용 후 실링처리를 실시하였다. 모재(Substrate), 열용사 코팅(Thermal Srpay Coating; TSC) 그리고 열용사 코팅+실링처리(TSC+Sealing) 시편에 대하여 내구성을 평가하기 위해 ASTM G76-05에 의거하여 고상입자 침식(Solid Particle Erosion; SPE) 실험을 실시하였다. 표면 손상 형상은 주사전자현미경과 3D 레이져 현미경을 통해 관찰했으며, 무게 감소량과 표면 거칠기 분석을 실시하여 내구성을 평가하였다. 그 결과 내구성은 TSC와 TSC+Sealing에 비해 Substrate가 우수하게 나타났으며, 이는 TSC 층 내에 존재하는 다수의 기공 결함에 기인한 것으로 판단된다. 또한 고상입자 침식 손상 메카니즘은 Substrate의 경우 연성 재질 특성인 소성변형과 피로에 의한 균열 생성이 동반되었으며, TSC와 TSC+Sealing의 경우 취성파괴 경향이 확인되었다.

  • 한국에서 삼원촉매 내구성은 1988년에 5년/80,000 km 이지만 2002년 이후로 10년/120,000 km이 요구된다. 국내의 삼원촉매는 배출가스 정화효율이나 압력강하 등이 만족하지만 열적 내구성은 만족시키지 못하고 있다. 삼원촉매는 내부에서 높은 온도를 유지하지만 외부 표면에서는 낮은 온도를 유지한다. 본 연구는 열유동과 구조해석 및 다음과 같은 과정에 의해서 열적 내구성을 평가하였다. 열유동 매개변수 범위는 차량시험과 열유동 해석에 의해 결정하였다. 후면 촉매 온도에 대한 반응 표면은 열유동 매개변수에 대한 실험계획법을 이용해 구성되었다. 차량시험에서 후면 촉매 온도에 대한 열유동 매개변수는 만족도 함수에 의해 예측하였다. 삼원촉매의 온도분포는 예측된 열유동 매개변수에 대한 열유동 해석에 의해 평가하였다.

Fly Ash 및 강섬유를 사용한 CFRD 터널 콘크리트의 균열발생 가능성 분석 (Crack Analysis of CFRD Tunnel Concrete Using Fly Ash and Steel Fiber)

  • The main purpose of this research was to enhance the durability in both the design and construction of dams. Especially, in case of rockfill dams, the durability of tunnel concrete in a concrete-faced rockfill dam(CFRD) is achieved by optimizing the fly ash replacement for cement and application of steel fiber. The effect on durability and thermal property corresponding to the increasing replacement of fly ash and application of steel fiber was evaluated, and the optimum value of fly ash replacement and steel fiber application was recommended. The results show that 15% of fly ash replacement and $20kg/m^3$ of steel fiber application was found to be an optimum level and demonstrated excellent performance in durability and thermal property.

  • 가스터빈에 적용되는 열차폐코팅은 가동 중 반복적인 열피로에 의하여 파손되므로, 열차폐코팅의 내구성평가가 필요하다. 고온 환경에 노출된 열차폐코팅의 내부에는 열생성산화물(TGO)이 성장하게 되는데, 이러한 열생성산화물(TGO)의 성장은 열차폐코팅의 주요 파손 원인으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 TGO의 성장을 고려한 열차폐코팅의 내구성평가는 반드시 선행되어야 하는 연구이다. 본 연구에서는 김대진등의 연구 결과로부터 열화시간에 따른 TGO 성장을 고려하여 유한요소해석을 수행하였으며, 이로부터 응력과 열화시간 사이의 관계를 도출하였다. 또한 열화시간에 따른 유한요소해석 결과와 김대진 등의 접착강도 시험 결과의 비교를 통하여 열차폐코팅의 내구성을 평가하였다.

가스터빈의 열차폐용 탑코팅의 내구성 향상 설계기술 (Design Technique for Improving the Durability of Top Coating for Thermal Barrier of Gas Turbine)

  • Thermal barrier coating (TBC) is used to protect the substrate and extend the operating life of the gas turbine for a power plant and an aircraft. The major cause of failure of such a coating is the spallation of coating, and it results from the thermal stress between top coating and bond coating. To improve the durability of TBC system, the dense vertical cracked (DVC) coating method to insert vertical cracks is applied to a gas turbine blade. In this study, a criterion for the design of vertical crack in the DVC coating was presented using the finite element analysis.
