Time-Series Causality Analysis using VAR and Graph Theory: The Case of U.S. Soybean Markets (VAR와 그래프이론을 이용한 시계열의 인과성 분석 -미국 대두 가격 사례분석-)

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce time-series causality analysis by combining time-series technique with graph theory. Vector autoregressive (VAR) models can provide reasonable interpretation only when the contemporaneous variables stand in a well-defined causal order. We show that how graph theory can be applied to search for the causal structure In VAR analysis. Using Maryland crop cash prices and CBOT futures price data, we estimate a VAR model with directed acyclic graph analysis. This expands our understanding the degree of interconnectivity between the employed time-series variables.

  • Terzaghi's theory of one-dimensional consolidation is restricted in its applicability to relatively thin layers and small incremental loading. Because it is assumed to infinitesimal strain and linear material function. For this reason, Gibson et al established a rigorous formulation for the one-dimensional nonlinear finite strain consolidation theory. There are some difficulties in the application of finite strain consolidation theory. The developed program consisted of several forms and modules. These forms and modules with graphic-user-interfaced format are used in analysis of consolidation practices. For the purpose of verification of developed program. the results of case study and prediction of developed program are compared. The results of comparison is fairly well with prediction and measured data. And with varying finite strain consolidation parameter, g(e) or λ(e), the sensitivity of predicted values were examined.

  • Flood routing is one of the most important engineering problems for the design of a spillway, and the procedures for the routing should be thoroughly understood by the engineers engaged in the planning of a spillway. There are many methods for the flood routing such as Muskingum, Steinberg, Puis, Holton, Goodrich, Rutter, Graves, Snyder, etc., which are being used in many countries. This article introduces the theory of the modified PuIs Method in detail which is exclusively being used in the Bureau of Reclamation, Department of Interior, U.S.A. Also, this article includes a routing example worked by the writter for the Ee-dong Reservoir of the Ki-ho Irrigation Association. in Kyong-gi Province.

  • Polymer collapse transition에 대한 연구가 많이 진행되어왔다. 허나 각각의 microstate에 대한 entropy나 free energy에 대한 계산을 하지는 못하였다. 최근 local nonequilibrium thermodynamics와 관련한 논문이 발표되었는데 이는 비평형 상태에서의 각각의 microstate에 대한 확률 분포를 결정하는 물리량을 발견 및 특성을 규명하여 이 중 특별한 상태가 지니는 "information" 이라는 양이 내부에너지와 엔트로피와의 상관관계가 있음을 보였다. 또한, 이러한 information theory를 이용한 Shannon entropy를 사용하여 entropy를 정의하고 free energy와 같은 물리량을 계산하였다. 따라서 이를 이용하여 information theory를 이용한 Shannon entropy와 이로 정의된 free energy를 이용하여 polymer collapse중 entropy 및 free energy를 계산하였다.

  • In this study the nonlinear dielectric properties of amorphous copolymers were analyzed by the related nonlinear dielectric theory. The theory is related to the cooperated dipoles and the number of the dipoles. The relation between the polarization coefficient $R_p$ and the nonlinear coefficient $R_s$ was deduced under the assumption of isotropic media.

  • We prove the existence of infinitely many solutions of the nonlinear higher order elliptic equation with Dirichlet boundary condition $(-{\Delta})^mu=q(x,u)$ in ${\Omega}$, where $m{\geq}1$ is an integer and ${\Omega}{\subset}{R^n}$ is a bounded domain with smooth boundary, when q(x,u) satisfies some conditions.

Modeling of Irradiation Temperatures and Constituent Redistribution in U-10Zr Metallic Fuel

  • The computational scheme on a irradiation temperature of U-10Zr fuel was established considering porosity formation, bond sodium infiltration and constituent redistribution. Thermotransport theory was adapted to model the redistribution phenomenon. As a results, the bond sodium seems to be logged in the outer region of fuel slug. The main driving force for constituent redistribution appears to be the Zr solubility change along to radial position of the fuel. It is evident that the heat of transport also has some contribution to the redistribution.
