  • One of the important restraint conditions for determination of rotary tiller parameters is whether the outside of front cutting surface on blade in rotary tiller pushes untilled soil in operation. By theoretical analysis and graphic verification on computer, no sil-push conditions is put forward and formula for calculating the position angle of its bent line derived, as is convenient for selection of rotary tiller parameters and design and drawing of its blade.

  • Noise emitted by driving cars affects our daily life, penetrating wherever man lives or works. There are three types of possible sound emitting processes that are aerodynamic sources, air pumping and tire vibration. In this paper, a theoretical model has been studied to describe the sound radiation by the surface vibration of running tires and experimental verification has been conducted to evaluate sound radiation characteristic due to tire vibration.

  • This paper proposes a new induction heating system composed of a hyristor PWM rectifier with a resonant commutation circuit. The operation of proposed system as first analyzed by a theoretical approach with equivalent circuits. And its verification was performed by computer simulations with EMTP. The proposed system can provide a solution for the power factor problem of the existing high-power induction heating system. which uses the line-commutated thyristor bridge in rectifier side.

  • Recently, the application of viscoelastic material in the field of vibration isolation has gradually increased due to its achievement in structural damping capacity, and many of the theoretical and experimental study has been carried out. In this study, the dynamic characteristics of the visoelastically supported cantilever beam, of which govering equation is based on the Bernoulli- Euler equation, is analyzed theoretically and experimentally. Expression for stiffness of multi-layered viscoelastic materal has been developed using variables such as frequency and number of layers, and further, based on this expression, damping characteristic of the beam is investigated with experimental verification.

  • The resonant column testing is a laboratory testing method to determine the shear modulus and the material damping factor of soils. The method has been widely used for many applications and its importance has been increased. Since the establishment of the testing method in 1963, the low-technology electronic devices for testing and data acquisition have limited the measurement to the amplitude of the linear spectrum. The limitations of the testing method were also attributed to the assumption of the linear-elastic material in the theory of the resonant column testing and to the use of the wave equation for the dynamic response of the specimen. For the better theoretical formulation of the resonant column testing, this study derived the equation of motion and provided its solution. This study also proposed the improved data reduction and analysis method for the resonant column testing, based on the advanced data acquisition system and the proposed theoretical solution for the resonant column testing system. For the verification of the proposed data reduction and analysis method, the numerical simulation of the resonant column testing was performed by the finite element analysis. Also, a series of resonant column testing were peformed for Joomunjin sand, which verified the feasibility, of the proposed method and showed the limitations of the conventional data reduction and analysis method.

  • The gyroscopes have been used as a suitable inertial instrument for the navigation guidance and attitude controls. The accuracy as very sensitive sensor is limited by the lock-in region (dead band) due to the frequency coupling between two counter-propagating waves at low rotation rates. This frequency coupling gives no phase difference, and an angular increment is not detected. This problem can be overcome by mechanically dithering the gyroscope. This paper presents the design method of mechanical dither by the theoretical considerations and the verification of the theoretical equations through FEM applications. As a result, comparing to the past result, the maximum prediction error of resonant frequency was within 3 percent and peak dither rate was within 5 percent. It was found that the theoretical equations can be feasible for the mechanical performance of dither.

  • The purpose of this paper is to verify that the design stress value of fuel rod for the irradiation test satisfies the structural design requirement. In this structural safety analysis thermal effect is the most severe element for the safety. The thermal effects are very complicated problem to be analyzed for the structural safety in short hand. By the application of theoretical analysis, the design margin of stress which was used in this fuel rod design was verified in the conservative point of view. In the future design of fuel rod, this analysis can be used as the theoretical method for the verification of safe design.

  • The recently introduced index Ratio Of Torsion (ROT) quantifies the base shear amplification due to torsional effects on shear cantilever types of building structures. In this work, a theoretical proof based on the theory of elasticity is provided, depicting that the ratio of torsion (ROT) is independent of the forces acting on the structure, although its definition stems from the shear forces. This is a particular attribute of other design and evaluation criteria against torsion such as center of rigidity and center of strength. In the case of ROT, this evidence could be considered as inconsistent, as ROT is a function solely of the forces acting on structural members, nevertheless it is proven to be independent of them. As ROT is the amplification of the shear forces due to in-plan irregularities, this work depicts that this increase of internal shear forces rely only on the structural topology. Moreover, a numerical verification of this theoretical finding was accomplished, using linear statistics interpretation and nonlinear neural networks simulation for an adequate database of structures.

  • In recent years, the problem of data drifted of the smart grid due to manual operation has been widely studied by researchers in the related domain areas. It has become an important research topic to effectively and reliably find the reasonable data needed in the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system has become an important research topic. This paper analyzes the data composition of the smart grid, and explains the power model in two smart grid applications, followed by an analysis on the application of each parameter in density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) algorithm. Then a comparison is carried out for the processing effects of the boxplot method, probability weight analysis method and DBSCAN clustering algorithm on the big data driven power grid. According to the comparison results, the performance of the DBSCAN algorithm outperforming other methods in processing effect. The experimental verification shows that the DBSCAN clustering algorithm can effectively screen the power grid data, thereby significantly improving the accuracy and reliability of the calculation result of the main grid's theoretical line loss.
