Research on regional innovation has recently emphasized the significance and necessities of global networks. However, theoretical arguments have not provided the answers for how global networks are actually formed and work, and the related discussions have not been cohesive while introducing separate concepts originated from diverse disciplines without connecting them with each other. This paper intends to critically review theoretical concepts on spatialities of regional innovation networks and demonstrate limits of each concept, arguing that a synthetic perspective is necessary for understanding how global innovation networks work. The author introduces, specifically, the concept of transnational ethnic communities, which has been recently given much attention to investigate global innovation networks, and provide its theoretical and policy implications.

This study was to review the child research articles in the field of home economics in Korea for the last two decades and to evaluate the child studies in terms of home much the child research had contributed to society. For the purposes of this study all the child research articles that had been published in the three representative academic journals of Korea were reviewed. A framework to evaluate child studies was decided in accordance with objectives of the research theoretical and practical, Theoretical studies imply ones dealt with child development and personality parent-child relations development of measures and thoughts on children while practical studies mean the research on development of parent education programs child education programs mental health of children wellbeing of children and child welfare policies. Results of qualntitative analysis in this study showed increases in numbers of both theoretical and practical studies. Practical studies however occupied j st 4-12% of all the research article published in the last 20 years. The Results of this study indicated researcher' low involvement in pratical studies. Researchers in the field of child studies had most frequently conducted research on child development and parent-child relations which were conducted based on theoretical knoledges from the West. For the practical child studies there were some studies on developing parent education programs and a few articles dealt with child welfare policies and wellbeing of children for two decades. Furthermore the major variables of the practical studies were analyzed and evaluated with respect to their contribution to society as well as socializing child relate issues. Finally the reasons of scholars' low involvement in practical studies and some suggestions for further studies to deal with practical child issues were discussed.

The main purpose of this paper is to review the research on the border region, especially herein to consider theoretical models critically and then to gain the implication for appropriate analytical framework or rather theoretical model on the basis of the findings. Through the review of various literature, major finding are as follows. First, the term of border or frontier was used in a rather ambiguous way. Second, the early models in the border region research have been developed to explain barrier effects, of which the border was considered to playa role. However, as border regions change from the closed regions to the opened ones, more adequate models have accordingly been developed. Third, there were several attempts to typify border regions and they tend to focus on the issue of regional development of the regions. Fourth, according to the case studies of the border region research, many border regions are not in isolation or peripheral position any more. Rather they are transformed into potentially prosperous regions through the support of authority as well as inter-regional cooperation.

We review a series of studies on turbulent skin friction drag reduction in wall-turbulence recently conducted in Japan. First, an identity equation relating the skin friction drag and the Reynolds shearstress (the FIK identity) is introduced. Based on the implication of the FIK identity, a new analytical suboptimal feedback control law requiring the streamwise wall-shear stress only is introduced and direct numerical simulation (DNS) results of turbulent pipe flow with that control is reported. We also introduce DNS of an anisotropic compliant surface and parameter optimization using an evolutionary optimization technique.

Reserarch on marital satisfaction adjustment or quality has been one of the most frequently studies area of the investigation in the family field. Yet there has been many problems with the theory and empirical work in this area especially in the area of definitional ambiguity problems of dimensionality level of analysis and problems of measurement. This article is a critical review of this work including both theoretical and empirical problems that typically have occured with the previous research Also a section on suggested modifications for future research in this area and a section of suggestion of new marital satisfaction measurement are included.

This paper shows the direction in which logistics modellers should make their effort by examining the gap between desirable characteristics which logistics decision models should possess and deficiencies from which existing models suffer. For this purpose, we(1) categorized logistics models into facility planning, inventory management and transportation/delivery planning models, (2) carried out a wide survey of theoretical and industry models within each category and (3) assessed recent development of integrated logistics models.

This paper presents System-Process Model on assessing the effectiveness of R&D organization(Korean Government-supported Research Institutes). System-Process Model has attempted to integrate different approaches. It is useful In sensitizing evaluators to the importance of goal, internal process, system resource and feedback in improving organizational effectiveness.

We review discharge characteristics of fluorescent lamps having noncircular cross sections. The developmental and theoretical history of noncircular cross-section lamps is summarized chronologically. In particular, discharge characteristics of noncircular cross-section lamps will be summarized and analyzed including plasma contraction, electron temperature, and ambipolar diffusion loss, which might give us some insights into the way to develop more efficient and uniform flat fluorescent lamps, which have recently arisen as a new light source of large-size backlight units for LCD TV applications.

Clinical interest has lately been roused by evidence that comprehension of synaptic plasticity may be based on the theoretical opinion. This paper describes perception of synaptic plasticity. Especially processes of long term potentiation(LTP) and long term depression(LTD) are discussed. Recently, it is assessed to genetical parts from development of molecular biology. Therefore this review also represents aspect of molecular events of synaptic plasticity.

The purpose of this study was to conduct the review of female labor suply, and thus, to provide useful theoretical and empirical frameworks for future studies related to female labor supply. Based on the theory of the allocation of time, the process of individual labor supply was systematically reviewed. Participation Probit/Logit, Tobit, and Selection B;ias Corrected Regression were considered in estimating the function of female labor supply which modifies the selection bias. Based on the previous empirical results, wage rate, asset income, husband's income, the level of eduction, and child-related variables such as the presence of child and the number of children might be considered for the empirical specification of female labor supply.
