Theft Prevention Technology for Smart Stroller using Distance Measurement of Dual Beacon (듀얼 비콘의 거리측정을 활용한 스마트 유모차용 도난방지 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a theft prevention technology based on beacon and smart device for smart stroller. The smart stroller has two Bluetooth devices. One is for data transmission and the other is for distance measurement as beacon. Thus, smart device uses a Bluetooth for strength level setting, manual locking and data transmission of smart stroller. Furthermore, smart device can do automatic locking of smart stroller using Bluetooth beacon when the stroller go further away from smart device. At this time, we apply a distance measurement algorithm and theft prevention algorithm with improved beacon distance measurement technique. To show usefulness of the proposed technology, we make a smart stroller and developed a smart device application. We did two distance measurement experiments and a theft prevention experiment with the proposed technology and the result shows 91.3% accuracy for theft prevention. Therefore, the proposed technology would be more usefulness technology for smart stroller.

Present Condition of Theft Loss at Construction Sites and a Situation Analysis of Prevention Measures (건설현장 절도 피해실태와 예방대책의 현황분석)

  • The theft of construction equipments and materials at construction sites is one of the risk factors that may affect to the productivity as well as the progress of the project. However, managers of the construction site have paid little attention to the security measure, therefore the theft loss at construction sites has been occurred repeatedly every year. In this study the situation analysis has been carried out for the present condition of theft loss of construction equipments and materials as well as its prevention measure based on the questionnaire survey targeting field managers, experienced theft loss at the site, as a part of base study to set up a security measure of construction sites. The main content of this study is analyzing characteristics of theft loss and the degree of impact and risk by it at construction sites, then reviewing the direction of the prevention plan establishment for the future through the analysis of the importance and utilization level of prevention measures. The result of this study would give an opportunity to create an awareness against the theft loss at construction sites as well as can be utilized as a basic survey for the systematic development of concerned prevention measures.

  • This paper presents an unmanned store management system that can provide inventory management and theft prevention for displayed products using a small camera that can monitor the shelves of sold products in small and medium-sized stores. This system is a service solution that integrates object recognition, real-time communication, security management, access management, and mobile authentication. The proposed system uses a custom YOLOv5-x model to recognize objects on the display, measure quantities in real time, and support real-time data communication with servers through Raspberry Pie. In addition, the number of objects in the database and the object recognition results are compared to detect suspected theft situations and provide burial images at the time of theft. The proposed unmanned store solution is expected to improve the efficiency of small and medium-sized unmanned store operations and contribute to responding to theft.

Practitioners' Needs Analysis to Improve the Youth Theft Prevention Program (청소년 절도비행 재범방지 프로그램 개선을 위한 실무자 요구조사 연구)

  • This study is aimed to improve the youth theft prevention program with rationality and practicality, based on the needs of practitioners who conduct these programs in fields. The survey questionnaire was prepared based on previous researches, and the survey was conducted on 72 probation officers and education instructors nationwide running a youth theft prevention program. As a result, practitioners reported the lack of self-control and high impulsivity as the main characteristics of the theft delinquent adolescents. And they recognized peer alignment and family problems as the causes of theft. As for the contents of the program, they reported that recidivism prevention skills such as understanding psychological problems, peer relationships, raising a sense of law compliance, anger, impulse control, dealing with negative emotions, and finding alternative behaviors, as well as moral development, are necessary. These results indicate that multi-dimensional interventions such as individuals, families, and peers are needed to prevent recidivism of juvenile theft. Implications of these results, future research directions, and limitations and significance of the study were discussed.

Predicting Reports of Theft in Businesses via Machine Learning

  • This study examines the reporting factors of crime against business in Korea and proposes a corresponding predictive model using machine learning. While many previous studies focused on the individual factors of theft victims, there is a lack of evidence on the reporting factors of crime against a business that serves the public good as opposed to those that protect private property. Therefore, we proposed a crime prevention model for the willingness factor of theft reporting in businesses. This study used data collected through the 2015 Commercial Crime Damage Survey conducted by the Korea Institute for Criminal Policy. It analyzed data from 834 businesses that had experienced theft during a 2016 crime investigation. The data showed a problem with unbalanced classes. To solve this problem, we jointly applied the Synthetic Minority Over Sampling Technique and the Tomek link techniques to the training data. Two prediction models were implemented. One was a statistical model using logistic regression and elastic net. The other involved a support vector machine model, tree-based machine learning models (e.g., random forest, extreme gradient boosting), and a stacking model. As a result, the features of theft price, invasion, and remedy, which are known to have significant effects on reporting theft offences, can be predicted as determinants of such offences in companies. Finally, we verified and compared the proposed predictive models using several popular metrics. Based on our evaluation of the importance of the features used in each model, we suggest a more accurate criterion for predicting var.

The Search of the Crime Prevention Method through the Crime Pattern to Apartment Type (아파트의 형태에 따른 범죄유형과 범죄예방 방법 모색)

  • Apartments are built in small countries to accommodate densely populated cities and maximize urbanization. Many apartment complexes have been built in recent reconstruction or redevelopment projects. An increase in crime has resulted due to residents living in a narrow space. Larceny is the most commonly reported crime in apartment complexes. Apartments can be classified as stairway, hallway, or plane surface. This study compares and analyzes the frequency of theft by apartment type to assist in creating a safer residential space. In America and England, scholars studied to make a safer residential space, and have applied the theory of 'the Defensible Space' and 'Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design(CPTED)' since 1970s. Korean apartment design now reflects CPTED in new apartment construction. In this study, 12 apartment complexes were selected in Changwon city to conduct analysis of theft in selected complexes. The study will cover housing invasion theft, motorcycle and car theft and snatching. The most frequency larceny is motorcycle and car theft, the second is housing invasion theft, and the least frequent is snatching. More residents' motorcycles and cars are damaged in a hallway style apartment. More frequently inhabitants have their possessions snatched on a stairway form. 1) When we build new apartment complexes, we must plan to improve territoriality and enhance a natural surveillance by reinforcing dwellers' relationship. Through planning we can prevention the larceny in apartments.

Safety Equipment System for Bicycle (자전거 안전 장치 시스템)

  • This paper is the product development of environment and safety. In growing society, the bicycle is need to have a common goals for consumers convenience and theft prevention. The bicycle is movable means. But as times passed, that bicycle is strongly recommended to replace other vehicles because that is not produced to air pollution and energy(gas, diesel etc) insufficiency. As workers using a bicycle are increased, road for only bicycle is made by additionary. The bicycles happens to several moving accidents such as car accidents because of signal mismatch between bicycle users. However, using the development products of this paper, many accident problems for bicycle can be solved. As increasing of bicycles numbers, the high cost bicycles are too increased. So, the more theft of bicycle is also happened. The developed products(turn signal system and theft prevention system) through this study kept your bicycles from more convenience and more safe.

  • The incidents of massive personal information being leaked are occurring continuously over recent years. Personal information leaked outside is used for an illegal use of other's name and account theft. Especially it is happening on online games whose virtual goods, online game money and game items can be exchanged with real cash. When we research the real identity theft cases that happened in an online game, we can see that they happen massively in a short time. In this study, we define the characteristics of the mass attacks of the automated identity theft cases that occur in online games. Also we suggest a system to detect and prevent identity theft attacks in real time.

Design and implementation of blockchain-based anti-theft protocol in Lora environment (Lora 환경에서 블록체인 기반 도난방지 프로토콜 설계 및 구현)

  • With the development of communication infrastructure, the number of network equipment owned by one person is gradually increasing. General-purpose devices such as smartphones can implement theft/loss prevention function by implementing S/W. However, other small devices lack practicality such as long-distance communication problems due to standard communication technology specifications or H/W limitations, and lack of functions(authentication and security). This study combines the Lora communication protocol in the LPWA standard environment and the blockchain technology. Anti-theft and security functions were added to the protocol, and the PBFT consensus algorithm was applied to build a blockchain network. As a result of the test, the effectiveness of safety(authentication and trust network) and performance(blockchain processing performance) were confirmed. This study aims to contribute to the future development of portable or small device anti-theft products as a 4th industrial convergence research.

  • Global companies are building global production network for the demand of the global market. However, the establishment and operation of overseas plants make the unexpected case like theft, low will to produce and salary issue of local workers. Thus in this paper, we propose the raw materials loss prevention model based on IP Camera and RFID Box for raw materials management of overseas plants. This model can prevent the theft or loss of raw materials write inventory up in real-time. This model can be allows us to realize the cost-effective production management because it enables remote inventory management. And this model can prevent brand image danage and profit loss due to reject product.
