A method is proposed in this paper to estimate the workability of self-compacting concrete (SCC) in different mixing conditions with different mixers and mixing volumes by recording the mixing process based on deep learning (DL). The SCC mixing videos were transformed into a series of image sequences to fit the DL model to predict the SF and VF values of SCC, with four groups in total and approximately thirty thousand image sequence samples. The workability of three groups SCC whose mixing conditions were learned by the DL model, was estimated. One additionally collected group of the SCC whose mixing condition was not learned, was also predicted. The results indicate that whether the SCC mixing condition is included in the training set and learned by the model, the trained model can estimate SCC with different workability effectively at the same time. Our goal to estimate SCC workability in different mixing conditions is achieved.
EGW process has been applied to joining of ship block with vertical-up position at high production rate. The workability of EGW, however, has been interrupted by too much slag production. Two electrodes EGW showed more severe workability than that of one electrode EGW. Therefore, to understand the effect of discharge amount of EGW slag on workability and mechanical properties, two different slag discharge amount have been controlled at the same welding conditions. The results are as follows; 1) Workability has been improved by any additional slag discharge. 2) Mechanical properties have been deteriorated with any additional slag discharge. 3) Chemical compositions of weld metal have been changed by any additional slag discharge.

Slag and ash generally have a higher powder degree than portland cement, so workability may deteriorate under the same unit quantity condition, and strength and durability decrease when the unit quantity is increased. At this time, if an aggregate having a low water absorption and an appropriate particle size is used to recover the loss of strength, it can contribute to reducing the unit quantity of the binder. Therefore, for the purpose of improving the workability and strength of non-sintered cement mortar using slag and ash, ferro nikel slag whose particle size was adjusted was used as an aggregate and its applicability was identified. In this experimental condition, it was confirmed that non-sintered cement mortar tends to improve workability and secure strength when ferro nikel slag having various particle size distributions is used as an aggregate. This can be analyzed as the effect of ferro nikel slag material properties including glassy properties and mixing conditions with a wide particle size distribution.

The Earth Pressure Balanced (EPB) Shield Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) is widely employed for constructing urban underground spaces due to its minimal vibration and low noise levels. The injection of additives offers several advantages, including maintaining shield chamber pressure, reducing shear strength, minimizing cutter wear, and decreasing the permeability of the excavated soil. This technique is known as soil conditioning and involves the application of additives such as foam, polymer, and bentonite slurry. In this study, weathered granite soil commonly encountered at domestic tunnel sites was used as a soil specimen. Foam and polymer were applied as additives to assess the rheological properties of conditioned soils. The workability was evaluated through slump tests, while the rheological properties were assessed through laboratory pressurized vane shear tests conducted under the same conditions. Specially, the polymer was applied under specific conditions with low workability with high slump values, with the aim of evaluating the impact of polymer application. The test results revealed that with an increase in the Foam Injection Ratio (FIR), the slump value also increased, while the torque, peak strength, yield stress, apparent viscosity, and thixotropic area decreased. Conversely, an increase in the Polymer Injection Ratio (PIR) led to results opposite to those of FIR. Additionally, a correlation between the slump value and yield stress was proposed. When comparing conditions with only foam applied to those with both foam and polymer applied, even with similar slump values, the yield stress was found to be lower in the latter conditions.

In this research, influence of low quality aggregate on engineering properties of concrete was evaluated experimentally. From the experiment, the fresh properties of slump and air content were controlled with unit water and AE dosage and all mixture were designed to have similar fresh properties of slump and air content with various quality of aggregate. Under this conditions, comparing with the mixture with high quality aggregate, the mixture with low quality aggregate showed the unit water and AE dosage were increased about 18 and 98%, respectively, because of poor grading and quantity of fines. For compressive strength, the low quality aggregate, specifically, exploded debris, clay sand, and sea sand contributed on decreasing compressive strength about 20~35%. Additionally, the concrete mixture including low quality fine and coarse aggregate showed adverse quality in not only compressive strength but also durability of freeze-thawing resistance, drying shrinkage, carbonation, and chloride ingression. Therefore, it is considered that for low quality aggregate, extra treatment processes such as washing or controlling gradation, and regulation to limit the use of low quality aggregate are needed.

Recently, it is very necessary the development of the manufacturing techniques for high strength concrete(HSC) for the large-scale size and good quality of civil structure. But, the manufacture and quality control of HSC of which shrinkage, heat of hydration and workability at construction filed are considered, is very difficult due to its low water-cement ratio and high quantity of unit cement content. In the present study, we tried to know and assess the influences of chemical and physical properties of cement on the material properties of HSC. We analyzed basic properties of 4 kinds of cement whose chemical and physical properties are different each other through various tests such as chemical analysis and mortal test. Also, we performed the assessment of the material properties of HSC for each dement by the test for the conditions of same mix design and similar compressive strength. From the results in the study, the assessment of the important quality factors of cement influencing the properties of HSC may be utilized to quality control of applied cement to manufacture the HSC of high quality.

Concrete made with ground granulated blast-furnace slag(GGBS) has many advantage, including improved durability, workability and economic benefits. GGBS concrete is that its strength development is considerably slower under standard 20℃ curing conditions than that of portland cement concrete, although the ultimate strength is higher for same water-binder ratio. GGBS is not therefore used in application where high early age strength is required. However, hydration of GGBS is much more sensitive to temperatures, the strength development of GGBS concrete is significantly enhanced.
2 Components polyurethane coatings are widely used for the industrial coating in general because of its excellent film performance and the workability which were brought by the 3 dimensional cross linked chain structures being formed after the reaction between polyol and polyisocyanate. 2 components polyurethane can be classified into alkyd polyol, polyester polyol, acrylic polyol and polyester modified acrylic polyol depending on where it is used. This research was conducted under the conditions below; different chemical compositions of resin for paint, set the same conditions of viscosity, thinner and acid value, set alternative polyols, OH values and catalysts, set alternative polyisocyanate hardeners of the paint, measure the reaction rates and dynamic mechanical characteristics using RPT-3000, Rotation Rheometer, DMA and FTIR. The research found that the reactivity between polyol and isocyanate influences the film performance and workability depending on the catalysts, OH values and chemical compositions. We find out that different reaction rate of acrylic polyol and polyester modified acrylic polyol with poly-isocyanate is not influenced on temperature and catalyst. In addition, reaction speed of high hydroxyl content polyol is faster than low hydroxyl equivalent. These results can improve difficult working condition to apply urethane coating.
Thixo-extrusion of semi-solid 7075 aluminum alloy and the mechanical properties of its extrudates were investigated. The semisolid alloy was prepared by a cooling slope cast. In other to perform thixo-extrusion, semi-solid 7075 aluminum alloy billets were reheated at the reheating conditions reported in a previous study. The maximum extrusion pressure in thixo-extrusion was 615MPa. This was lower than that of conventional hot extrusion ($P_{max}=940MPa$) at the same extrusion conditions due to the increased fluidity of the alloy billet in the semi-solid state. The values of Rockwell hardness (scale B) at the extrusion direction of the as thixoextruded bar were 48~53HRB and the difference in Rockwell hardness between the transverse direction and the extrusion direction was 5HRB or less. The results show that thxio-extrusion of semi-solid 7075 Al alloy improves the workability and anisotropic with the extrusion direction compared with hot extrusion of the conventional alloy.

Self-Curing Self Compacting Concrete (SCSCC), is a special concrete in contemporary construction practice aimed at enhancing the performance of structural concrete. Its primary function is to ensure a sufficient moisture supply that facilitates hydration along with flow, particularly in the context of high-rise buildings and tall structures. This innovative concrete addresses the challenges of maintaining adequate curing conditions in large-scale projects, maintaining requisite workability, contributing to the overall durability and longevity of concrete structures. For implementing such a versatile material in construction, it is imperative to understand the stress-strain (S-S) behaviour. The primary aim of this study is to develop the S-S curves for TCSCSCC and compare through experimental results. Finite element (FE) analysis based ATENA-GiD was employed for the numerical simulation and develop the analytical stress-strain curves by introducing parameters viz., grade of concrete, tie diameter, tie spacing and yield strength. The stress ratio and the strain ratios are evaluated and compared with experimental values. The mean error is 1.2% with respect to stresses and 2.2% in case of strain. Finally, the stress block parameters for tie confined SCSCC are evaluated and equations are proposed for the same in terms of confinement index.
