  • This study was conducted to investigate and reveal secondary vocational education institutions' perception changes and suggest the need for supporting the improvement of their perception by analyzing middle school principals' perception changes of the past, the present, and the future about them. For this, middle school principals' perception of the past, the present, and the future about secondary vocational education institutions was investigated and analyzed targeting 214 persons. The results of the study are as follow: First, middle school principals' perception of secondary vocational education institutions has found to make more positive changes in the present than the past and be going to make more positive changes in the future than the present. This can be interpreted that various policies of secondary vocational education institutions have a positive effect on the improvement of their perception since 2005. Second, in the result that analyzed changes in the ranks about middle school principals' perception of the past, the present, and the future about secondary vocational education institutions, the fields of "nurturing students' aptitude and talent early" and "their fast financial independence after graduation" were recognized as positive in the past, the present, and future. As the field of "entering universities in the same field easily" was recognized ranking high in the past and the present, but doing low in the future, it has found that the perception of secondary vocational education institutions is changing according to governmental policies' directions.

  • Several workers reported the relationship between osteoporosis and age-related reductions in the BV/TV (bone volume fraction) of vertebral trabecular bones. However, there were few micro finite element (micro-FE) models to account for the treatments of the osteoporotic trabecular bone. In the present study, micro-FE models of osteoporotic and hormone-treated bone models were constructed to analyze the effect of specimen location and boundary condition on mechanical characteristics of hormone treatment model for osteoporotic trabecular bone. Top and bottom sections of specimens were also investigated individually to study the effect of specimen location. Hormone-treated models were allowed to have the same relative BV/TV (13.4%) as that used in models of previous researchers. The present study reported the elastic and plastic characteristics of the osteoporosis and hormone-treated bone models. In the present study, in-situ boundary condition was applied to the simulated compression tests for in-vivo condition of vertebral trabecular bone. The present study indicated that the hormone therapy was likely to improve the mechanical characteristics of osteoporotic bones and the mechanical characteristics of vertebral trabecular bone specimen were dependent on the captured location and boundary condition.

  • What if the memory is not erased but continues to exist in the head as it was before? The typical answer to this question would be summarized as the "love for memory". It is almost unbearable that the memory is erased, forgotten or replaced with others. Even though three episodes may be understood as separate things, they have a different image when they are seen under one subject . he three episodes impresses the people with their unique fantastic images and artistic air. In the episode of , we can see a woman who is so much concerned with her past memory so that she does not love the present. In this episode, we can realize how much destructive the bad past memory gives effect on a woman and how memory can give bad effect on a person if that does not connect the past and the present. The work criticizes the society whichdoes not understand the current problems by depicting a person who is so preoccupied with the thing near that person only. shows that the dream is meaningless if people have the future dream without understanding what they really want. Theaudience is absorbed to each hero or heroin who is so obsessed with the past, present and future. What we can feel from these three works is the doubt about the human society which is so much preoccupied with the pessimism and the individuals who do not recognize the importance of the present because they are so much obsessed with their superficial past, present and future as well as the society where they live.

  • Categorical production in language processing helps speakers to produce phonemic contrasts. This categorization and production is utilized for the production-based and imitation-based approach in the present study. Contrastive signals in speakers' speech reflect the shapes of boundaries with categorical characteristics. Signals that provide information about lexical pitch accent contrasts can introduce categorical distinctions for productive and cognitive selection. This experiment was conducted with nine North Kyungsang speakers for a production task and nine North Kyungsang speakers for an imitation task. The first finding of the present study is the rigidity of categorical production, which controls the boundaries of lexical pitch accent contrasts. The categorization of North Kyungsang speakers' production allows them to classify minimal pitch accent contrasts. The categorical production in imitation appeared in two clusters, representing two meaningful contrasts. The second finding of the present study is that there are individual differences in speakers' production and imitation responses. The distinctive performances of individual speakers showed a variety of curves. For the HL-LH patterns, the categorical production tended to be highly distinctive as compared to the other pitch accent patterns (HH-HL and HH-LH), showing that there are more continuous curves than categorical curves. Finally, the present study shows that, for North Kyungsang speakers, imitative production is the core type of categorical production for determining the existence of the lexical pitch accent system. However, several questions remain for defining that categorical production, which leads to ideas for future research.

  • A simple measure of uncertainty importance based on normalized metric distance to quantify the entire change of cumulative distribution functions (CDFs) has been developed for use in probability safety assessments (PSAs). The metric distance measure developed in this study reflects the relative impact of distributional changes of inputs on the change of an output distribution, white most of the existing uncertainty importance measures reflect the magnitude of relative contribution of input uncertainties to the output uncertainty. Normalization is made to make the metric distance measure a dimensionless quantity. The present measure has been evaluated analytically for various analytical distributions to examine its characteristics. To illustrate the applicability and strength of the present measure, two examples are provided. The first example is an application of the present measure to a typical problem of a system fault tree analysis and the second one is for a hypothetical non-linear model. Comparisons of the present result with those obtained by existing uncertainty importance measures show that the metric distance measure is a useful tool to express the measure of uncertainty importance in terms of the relative impact of distributional changes of inputs on the change of an output distribution.

  • The present paper investigated the effect of ultrasonic vibrations on the melting process of a phase-change material (PCM). Furthermore, the present study considered constant heat flux boundary conditions unlike many of the previous researches adopted constant wall temperature conditions. Therefore, in the present study, modified dimensionless parameters such as Ste* and Ra* were used. Also, general relationships between melting with ultrasonic vibrations and melting without ultrasonic vibrations were established during the melting of PCM. Experimental observations show that the effect of ultrasonic vibrations on heat transfer is very important throughout the melting process. The results of the present study reveal that ultrasonic vibrations accompany the effects like agitation, acoustic streaming, cavitation, and oscillating fluid motion. Such effects are a prime mechanism in the overall melting process when ultrasonic vibrations are applied. They enhance the melting process as much as 2.5 tildes, compared with the result of natural melting. Also, energy can be saved by applying ultrasonic vibrations to the natural melting. In addition, various time-wise dimensionless numbers provide conclusive evidence of the important role of ultrasonic vibrations on the melting phenomena.

  • All spectroscopic methods used in this work indicate the instability of tungstophosphates in aqueous solutions and considerable dependence on pH with regard to the dominant species present in the solution. UV spectroscopy indicates that some changes occur in the system but they cannot be specified. IR spectroscopy gives more information on the identification of the dominant species as a function the pH of the solution. NMR spectroscopy provides unique data, which can be used for more accurate interpretation of changes in the solution of various pH values. In the case of aqueous solutions of tungstophosphates, the parent anion was present only in a very acidic solution of ca. pH 1. Some differences in interpretation of the molecular species present under various experimental conditions can be ascribed to some extent to the diversity of chemical shifts of NMR. Under physiological conditions attained with the addition of NaOH, tungstophosphates was dominantly present in the form of the lacunary monovacant anion.

  • In this study, the bending and dynamic behaviors of laminated composite plates is examined by using a refined shear deformation theory and developed for a bending analysis of orthotropic laminated composite plates under various boundary conditions. The displacement field of the present theory is chosen based on nonlinear variations in the in-plane displacements through the thickness of the plate. By dividing the transverse displacement into the bending and shear parts and making further assumptions, the number of unknowns and equations of motion of the present theory is reduced and hence makes them simple to use. In the analysis, the equation of motion for simply supported thick laminated rectangular plates is obtained through the use of Hamilton's principle. Numerical results for the bending and dynamic behaviors of antisymmetric cross-ply laminated plate under various boundary conditions are presented. The validity of the present solution is demonstrated by comparison with solutions available in the literature. Numerical results show that the present theory can archive accuracy comparable to the existing higher order shear deformation theories that contain more number of unknowns.

  • In Korea, open spaces of urban housing do not serve residents as "regular living areas". We carried out research on the "streets" of urban housings in that the meaning of traditional "streets", playing roles which are not only means of passage but also boundary of life, cannot include present meaning of "streets" of the urban housing. This research is to propose the direction of planning Community Streets for the recovery of the public- and communal urban housing's streets, researching the present employment condition of Community Streets that were prepared recently. Working with 3 complexes which have been completed since 2000, We studied the present employment condition and planned signification, according to the conditions of their surroundings, the physical conditions of Community Streets, and the relationship among main apartment buildings, open spaces, and facilities. From this study, We came up with several suggestions that can present the planning line of Community Streets. Therefore this research is to create the Community Streets for the activity of the streets, the recovery of the community, and improvement of ambulatory environment.

  • This work presents a static flexure analysis of laminated composite plates by utilizing a higher order shear deformation theory in which the stretching effect is incorporated. The axial displacement field utilizes sinusoidal function in terms of thickness coordinate to consider the transverse shear deformation influence. The cosine function in thickness coordinate is employed in transverse displacement to introduce the influence of transverse normal strain. The highlight of the present method is that, in addition to incorporating the thickness stretching effect (${\varepsilon}_z{\neq}0$), the displacement field is constructed with only 5 unknowns, as against 6 or more in other higher order shear and normal deformation theory. Governing equations of the present theory are determined by employing the principle of virtual work. The closed-form solutions of simply supported cross-ply and angle-ply laminated composite plates have been obtained using Navier solution. The numerical results of present method are compared with those of the classical plate theory (CPT), first order shear deformation theory (FSDT), higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) of Reddy, higher order shear and normal deformation theory (HSNDT) and exact three dimensional elasticity theory wherever applicable. The results predicted by present theory are in good agreement with those of higher order shear deformation theory and the elasticity theory. It can be concluded that the proposed method is accurate and simple in solving the static bending response of laminated composite plates.
