The purpose of this study was to Identify the self-actualization level of Junior College Nursing Students and to analyze the variables that may be related to self-actualization. A convenient sample of 346 students were selected from three colleges located in Seoul and Kyungki-Province. The data were collected using a direct survey method from September17to October 2, 1992. The instrument used for this study was the self-actualization test modified by Kim & Lee(1983). The collected data were analyzed using percentages, means, 1-test, X$^2$-test, ANOVA and Pearson’s correlation coefficient, with the SPSSPC$^{+}$ Package. The results of this study are as follows : 1) The self-actualization level of subjects was moderate. The subjects showed higher scores in the areas of Self actualizing Values and Nature of Man than the standardized normal groups. The subjects showed lower scores in the areas of Inner Directed Existentiality, Self acceptance and Capacity for Intimate Contact. 2) The subjects attending day junior colleges showed higher scores in the areas of Time competent, Existentiality and Self Acceptance than those attending college in the evening. The subjects attending evening junior colleges showed higher scores in the areas of Spontaneity than those attending college by day. 3) The junior students showed higher scores in the areas of Feel-ing Reactivity than freshman. The students with no religion showed higher scores in the areas of existentiality than those who had a religion. The group who had the experience of failure on the college entrance examination showed lower scores in the areas of Nature of Man than those without this experience. Those who chose their major voluntary showed scores higher in the areas of I nor Directed, Self Actualizing Values, Spontaneity and Self regard than the unsatisfied group. The group satisfied with college life showed higher scores in the areas of Time Competent, Inner Directed, Self Actualizing Values and Self Regard than the unsatisfied group. In conclusion self actualization level depends on motivation of choice, satisfaction with nursing as a major and satisfaction with college life. Therefore, and effective guidance program is required to improve motivation and satisfaction with nursing as a major and with college life.
Accurate measurement of the absorbed dose and the effective dose is required in dental panoramic radiography involving relatively low energy with a rotational X-ray tube system using long exposures. To determine the effectiveness of measuring the irradiation by using passive dosimetry, we compared the entrance skin doses by using a radiophotoluminescent glass dosimeter (RPL) and an optically stimulated luminescence detector (OSL) in a phantom model consisting of nine and 31 transverse sections. The parameters of the panoramic device were set to 80 kV, 4 mA, and 12 s in the standard program mode. The X-ray spectrum was applied in the same manner as the panoramic dose by using the SpekCalc Software. The results indicated a mass attenuation coefficient of $0.008226cm^2/g$, and an effective energy of 34 keV. The equivalent dose between the RPL and the OSL was calculated based on a product of the absorbed doses. The density of the aluminum attenuators was $2.699g/cm^3$. During the panoramic examination, tissue absorption doses with regard to the RPL were a surface dose of $75.33{\mu}Gy$ and a depth dose of $71.77{\mu}Gy$, those with regard to the OSL were surface dose of $9.2{\mu}Gy$ a depth dose of $70.39{\mu}Gy$ and a mean dose of $74.79{\mu}Gy$. The effective dose based on the International Commission on Radiological Protection Publication 103 tissue weighting factor for the RPL were $0.742{\mu}Sv$, $8.9{\mu}Sv$, $2.96{\mu}Sv$ and those for the OSL were $0.754{\mu}Sv$, $9.05{\mu}Sv$, and $3.018{\mu}Sv$ in the parotid and sublingual glands, orbit, and thyroid gland, respectively. The RPL was more effective than the OSL for measuring the absorbed radiation dose in low-energy systems with a rotational X-ray tube.

In many theoretical and empirical studies on the design issues of therapeutic healthcare facilities, spatial configuration that promotes users' wayfinding behavior, has been emphasized as a significant factor to mitigate stressful experiences and to enhance restorative quality in the healthcare environment. This is also applicable to the healthcare setting for children. However, not much evidence has been reported with regard to the relationship between spatial configuration and wayfinding behaviors in this specific setting. Moreover, healthcare facilities for children with physical disabilities need more attention to provide easy wayfinding due to various physical restrictions. The aim of this study is therefore, to unfold the relationship between spatial configuration and visual cognitive qualities of outpatient spaces in the selected children's rehabilitation hospitals in Seoul, by examining visual cognitive attributes such as visibility, accessibility, and intelligibility. In the first phase, the spatial layout of the hospitals was analyzed, with an emphasis on the major outpatient areas such as the entrance lobby, doctors' examination, and physical therapy zones. In the second phase, a space syntax tool was implemented to examine visual cognitive characteristics of the spatial configuration. The spatial configuration parameters measured were integration, integration core, visual isovist field continuity, correlation between integration and step depth, and the correlation between integration n and integration 3. As a result, the integration was higher in the hall type configuration. Circulation intersections acted mostly as integration cores for better visibility. Some areas showed the lack of continuity in the visual isovist fields overlap and irregular correlation between integration and step depth. The intelligibility was higher in the circulation area and social interaction spaces such as a cafe, reception waiting, and therapy waiting areas. Based on the analysis, design implication and possible future improvement were discussed to enhance wayfinding experiences in the hospitals for children with physical disabilities.
To complete the appropriate pattern language as a planning tool for suburban houses in Korea, this study reviews the characteristics in applying the pattern language to suburban houses in Korea by creating the pattern application examination chart regarding 110 patterns in architecture and evaluating and analyzing 24 examples in terms of the applicability of the patterns, the results of which are as set forth below. Firstly, when grouping the upper 31 patterns by similar characteristics, it was distinguished by the characteristics relating to (i) securing of lighting and viewing; (ii) placing of buildings and space and adjustment of inside and outside privacy through such placing; (iii) placing of proper motion line and functions of adjacent space according to such motion line; and (iv) determining of important space such as personal room, area for couple or children, staircase, entrance, hallway, etc. Secondly, when analyzing the reasons that the lower 41 patterns have not been applied, it was characterized by (i) the work space not suitable for suburban houses or the patterns suitable for commercial space; (ii) the patterns not suitable in Korea due to cultural differences; and (iii) the patterns whose applicability cannot be confirmed due to the limitation of examples and materials used in this study. Thirdly, the analysis of each pattern group (A through M) revealed that the pattern groups D and G are rarely related to suburban houses and J and M are patterns whose applicability cannot be determined in this study. Another characteristics is that the pattern groups B, E, F, I and L which obtain high scores in applicability are importantly reflected in planning for suburban houses in Korea. Fourthly, this study renders the average score of applicability, and the applicability rate, of the examples and confirms the number of the patterns applied in confirmity, patterns partially or potentially applied and patterns not applied at all.

This study conducted a case study on the process-centered evaluation competency of a middle-school/high-school science teacher using Teacher's Process-centered Evaluation Competency (T-PEC) measurement tool. The case analysis shows that teacher A in a middle school represents high competency of process-centered evaluation planning and cooperative communication while the competency of utilizing process-centered evaluation results is low owing to the characteristics of non-standardized areas. Teacher B in a high school shows high level of cooperative communication competency whereas low level of process-centered evaluation execution competency because the freedom given to students is not enough during the process of evaluation. The teacher also shows very low level of utilizing process-centered evaluation results due to the lack of time and the school culture not giving feedback to the students. According to cross-case analysis, teacher A and B both represent the highest level of collaborative communication competency and the lowest level of utilization process-centered evaluation results competency. And the lack of clear criteria for process-centered evaluation leads to different understanding of process-centered evaluation between the two teachers, and teacher B shows low the level of utilizing process-centered evaluation affects results due to the students not being concerned on feedback, security problem, and the reality focusing on the university entrance examination in high schools. Based on the results, this study suggests providing clear guidelines of process-centered evaluation to teachers, introducing an application in order to solve the time-lack problem pointed out as the biggest problem of process-centered evaluation, ensuring objectivity and security about process-centered evaluation results, and building the school culture such as the expanded application of standardized areas in order to implementing process-centered evaluation.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship creativity and motivation. The subjects were 297 gifted students, selected in the examination for entrance to the Science Education Institute for the Gifted located Jeonbuk. To compare the gifted students' creativity and motivation with the normal students', this study used the standardized test, the Creativity Inventory for Students(by Choi & Lee, 2004) and Multi-Dimensional Learning Strategy Test(by Park, 2006). The major results of this study were as follows; First, The gifted students group was high group in the creativity, and especially the gifted girls were significantly higher than the gifted boys. Second, learning motivation of the gifted students were high or than the normal students and the gifted students were inclined to cope actively to challenge situation rather than avoid. Third, The Creativity showed the positive relationship with learning motivation, the negative relationship with avoid motivation, and moderate relationship with competitive motivation. This result suggested that it is very important to encourage gifted students to the intrinsic motivation rather than extrinsic motivation like competition or achievement in education.

The purpose of this study was to investigate into common science and Science-Technology-Society education movement which are concerned in newly reformed 6th curriculum. These data were obtained by the survey of 291 high school science teachers who have no experience for the workshop of the common science in Kwangju city and 120 high school science teachers who have experience for the workshop of the common science in Kwangju city and Chollanamdo. The results were as follows: 1) They responded that the physics is more closely subject for the common science and thereby it could be charged for the common science by teacher of physics. 2) The 96.90 percent of the respondents (B-group) have confidence with teaching common science subject. 3) They favored that a device for the application of STS Thoughts is added last part of each chapter, last chapter or adequately introduce to each teaching. 4) They are not concerned about overlap with the contents of common science and each science contents (A-group:74.58 percent, B-group:78.35 percent). 5) They wondered about the various items of teaching and the lack of scientific surrounding Knowledge for solving problems. 6) They responded that if the common science are implicated into the current high school, the sciences will become a interesting. 7) Before the common science have become established, they was demanded a improvement of currently University Entrance Examination systems.
This study is carried out to investigate the actual meal pattern of liberal high school students, who usually spend most of their time outside their homes preparing for the college entrance examination. The result of which tells the urgent need of extension and improvement in the school provision system. We select a total of 611 liberal high students in the city of Incheon, both males and females, of the first, second, and the third graders. The results are as follows; Only 39.6% of the students have breakfast and 14.7% of the students answer they always skip over breakfast. At lunch time, most of, i.e. 89.9% of the students have lunch and 80.4% of them usually carry lunch with themselves. Seniors show a tendency to have lunch quite earlier than the school-stated time, which signifies that many of seniors should bring more than one lunch to school in order not to lack enough calories. 45.8% of the students among those who do not dispense with supper take supper in the form of lunch. Many other students substitute Ra-myon for rice meal at supper time. As we can induce, the students need between-meal refreshments. 48.8% answer they have a snack more often than not, and 40.2% of them say they need a snack because of hunger. 82.1% of the students usually stay at school almost for 12 hours a day, and they mostly depend on lunch for their two meals. But lunch cannot provide balanced nutrition for them because of its restricted choice of nutrutional elements. The data above make it sure that the extension of the school provision system is really demanded. 86.6% of the students answer they feel the urgency of its operation.

Purpose: The characteristics of spatial allocation planning in dentistry through examining the dental hospitals in Korea and comparison between them are necessary for the development of planning of the dental healthcare system. This study has been started to provide basic informations such as zoning, allocation distribution, and space configuration for the planning of dental hospital architecture. Methods: Literature review of dental care departments and investigation on current status of dental hospital in Korea have been conducted. The spatial allocation and space configuration of eleven dental hospitals have been analyzed. Results: The result of this study can be summarized in three points. The first one is that dental hospitals in Korea are consisted with eight to eleven dental care departments and they are divided with the horizontal allocation type with three to four departments in a floor for the spatial communication or the vertical allocation type with a department in each floor for the independent space. The second one is that oral medicine and oral maxillofacial radiology are located near the main entrance, orthodontics and pedodontic dentistry in lower level, prosthodontics in upper level, and conservative dentistry and periodontics have no specific spatial consideration. The third one is that the factors to consider the allocation planning are zoning for examination & diagnosis, basic practice, adolescence, surgery, circulations for patient, dentist, staff, different access for department like as easy access for reception and pedodontic dentistry, enclosure space for prosthodontics and surgery, frequency of visit and treatment care time, and change of treatment concept from treatment department to disease control corporative practice. Implications: This study is the starting point for the research of spatial configuration in dentistry and it is necessary to analyze the architectural planning to develop the dental healthcare system.
