This study was to find out the demand for the education of elder marital couples to improve their relationship. The results of this study were as follows. 1. Marital satisfaction was affected by four elements such as confidence and affinity, mutual respect, communication, and cohesion. Each element showed significant differences by the socio-demographic variables. Out of these variables, age, academic career, health, occupation, and salary showed significant difference in all 4 elements affecting the marital satisfaction. 2. The couples with shorter marriage period, with religion, and belonging to a nuclear family, and doing social activities were recognized the necessity of education highly. 3. The higher the confidence and affinity, and cohesion between couple, the higher the demand for education program. The lower the score of communication between couple, they participated more often in the educational program. For the improvement of confidence and affinity between couple, the educational program with partners is necessary.

Recently, mobility and accessibility occurs for the elder and the handicapped in the aging problem. In this paper, we analyze the dynamics of slide-up seat, which helps to care the handicapped passenger in and out the automobile when we enjoy trip with the families including the elder and handicapped. We check the trajectories of slide-up seat inside and outside car to protect its corrosion and the stress at the joints of mechanical structure. Those can be helped to keep the safety and accuracy of the multiple dynamic systems for precision quality assurance in mass production.

Purpose: The purpose of this secondary analysis study was to examine the incidence of abuse and the contributing factors for that abuse among the Korean elderly with stroke. Methods: Data were derived from the 2008 Korean National Survey on Older Adults. The participants were 934 community-dwelling elderly with stroke. Data were analyzed using the Rao-Scott $x^2$-test, simple logistic regression and multiple logistic regression with the PASW 18.0 complex samples analysis module. Results: The prevalence of elder abuse was 13.5%. Emotional abuse (10.0%) was the most frequently reported abuse, followed by financial neglect (3.8%), caring neglect (3.3%), financial abuse (2.1%), and physical abuse (1.9%). 44.6% of the perpetrators of emotional abuse were coresidential family members. Participants without spouses (odds ratio=2.05, 95% CI=1.14~3.68), those without diabetes (odds ratio=2.24, 95% CI=1.15~4.39), and depressed participants (odds ratio=2.72, 95% CI=1.34~5.52) were more likely to be abused. Conclusion: Emotional abuse was the most frequently reported type of abuse while physical abuse was least frequent among the elderly with stroke. Nurses caring for the elderly with stroke should be aware of the types of abuse and risk factors such as lack of spouse and incidents of depression.

The numbers of the elder are rapidly growing who wants to enhance social activities, because Korea is already an aging society since 2000. The mobility and accessibility are the key issues to enhance them. The electric motor scooter and the power wheel chair are efficient movable means at a short range. It would be needed to get on and off them if the elder wants use them after arriving a long distant destination. But the electric scooter is too heavy for a man to get on and off a coach van. The motor winch lift is developed for the elder and the handicapped to get on and off a van easily. The lift consists of 3-linkage which can be installed in a trunk of a van with a small space. The clearance and stress of each component are checked by a computer simulation. The prototype was made. and the performances of safety and comfortableness were verified by operational ability test and durability test.

Research method was a case study as narrative method through in-depth interviews around 21 sufferers of elder abuse in rural area and the researcher interviewed them directly. Conclusively, the majority of sufferers of elder abuse were physically very low in the ADL(activities of daily living) and had been bereaved with no spouse. The relations of abused parents and the adult children were much disagreed and divided as unrecovered. Their economic reliance and physical reliance were much overlapped and the majority of them were low educational background and low income level. In case of the abused old people, they had severe low self respect and melancholy, so they considered severely suicide so much as invaluable as their existing value. In spite of over 80.5 years old average, the abuse action had continued for 6 months to 50 years long and the intensity of the abuse was more strengthened. The majority of abused old people refused mostly the entrance of social welfare facilities for elders and also they desired to live in present living area and their own houses.

The general characteristics of the elder gait are to show a tendency that stride length and cycle decrease compared with those of adult, then walk velocity decreases. Despite differences by age in design of elder footwear, the study on characteristics of elderly gait is few. This study aims to compare pressure distributions of elderly foot with those of young students by using EMED. The ground contact time on foot was longer than that of university students in Result. Elderly males and females have 1.12 times and 1.20 times greater maximum force over the whole areas on the foot during walking than that of younger males and females, respectively. The elderly have long ground contact time at the middle foot. The guidelines which should be considered in designing shoes for the elderly are proposed. The results can be applied to design of the elder footwear on the basis of ergonomics.

Lower birth rate and higher elder people are serious social problem in Korea. In 2003, the total birth rate is 1.19 per person, that record is lowest among OECD country. In 2005, Korea has been the aging society with 9.0% in aged population rate. Increasing of aged population results in elder estrangement and confliction with other generations. The social problem can be solved in some degree by improving housing environment and many kinds of welfare program. This study suggests a solution of the problem by applying community space located on ground level floor. The ground level floor of apartment has many physical benefits like connection to the earth, extension, safeness for the aged and child. in case of the National Rental apartment, small residential area and high rate of elder, child, the disabled make the ground level floor useful space for community. According to case study, almost the National Rental apartment hasn't enough facilities supporting various generations and don't supply comfortable environment. So, this study presents how to design the National Rental Apartment's community space located on ground level floor.

The objective of this study is to analyze the needs and determine the requirements of elder drivers for effectively using In-vehicle Information System (IVIS), by reducing cognitive and physical impact on this vulnerable group. The persona method was used to determine the relevant characteristics of older drivers. Task analysis was performed in order to obtain general interaction problems of the personas when using a common function of recent days IVIS. The results were classified in the different usability goals as general requirements, specific needs. This study suggest improvement directions in order to develop an elderly friendly IVIS; in addition, different usability metrics were suggested. In this way, elder drivers would easily interact with new powerful functions supplied by IVIS of modern cars; while improving safety and comfort of an rapidly aging society.
