  • The development of a light-weight vehicle is in great demand for enhancement of fule efficiency and dynamic performance. The vehicle weight can be reduced effectively by using lightweight materials such as aluminum and magnesium. However, if such materials are used in vehicles, there are often instances when different materials such as aluminum and steel need to be joined to each other. The conventional joining method, namely resistance spot welding, cannot be used in joining different materials. Self-piercing rivet(SPR) and adhesive bonding, however, are good alternatives to resistance spot welding. This paper is concerned with the crushing test of double hat-shaped member made by resistance spot welding, SPR and adhesive bonding. Various parameters of crashworthiness are analyzed and evaluated. Based on these results, the applicability of SPR and adhesive bonding are proposed as an alternative to resistance spot welding.

  • The notable feature of the Cu(II) coordination polymer investigated here is its ability to self-assemble into a double-stranded helical structure with regular grooves along the helical axis, through the combination of metal-chloride dimeric interactions and repulsive interactions, as an organizing force. It is also remarkable that the double-stranded helices self-organize into a 2-D columnar structure in both the bulk state and aqueous solution. These results represent a unique example that weak metal-ligand bridging interactions can provide a useful strategy to construct stable double-stranded helical nanotubes.

  • In this work, four circulant and quadratic double circulant (QDC) constructions are applied to the family of the rings $R_{k,m}$. Self-dual binary codes are obtained as the Gray images of self-dual QDC codes over $R_{k,m}$. Extremal binary self-dual codes of length 64 are obtained as Gray images of ${\lambda}-four$ circulant codes over $R_{2,1}$ and $R_{2,2}$. Extremal binary self-dual codes of lengths 66 and 68 are constructed by applying extension theorems to the ${\mathbb{F}}_2$ and $R_{2,1}$ images of these codes. More precisely, 10 new codes of length 66 and 39 new codes of length 68 are discovered. The codes with these weight enumerators are constructed for the first time in literature. The results are tabulated.

  • In this study, a new earth retention system has been developed and introduced. This system is a self-supported earth retaining wall without struts. The new earth retention system consists of connected double H-pile and wale. This system provides a larger spacing of support, economical benefit, construction easiness, good performance and safety. This paper explains basic principles and mechanism of self-supported earth retaining wall. In order to investigate applicability and safety of this system, numerical analysis was performed. The finite differential method program, FLAC3D is used. The predicted performances of this system were presented and discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the double mediating the effects of social support and self-esteem in the relationship between the subjective social class and the suicide thoughts of middle aged men and women. The subjective social class was analyzed in a parallel double-mediated model to check the mediating effect of self-esteem and social support on the idea of suicide. Social support and self-respect, which are mediating variables of subjective social class on suicide idea, both were a statistically significant. Putting the results of this study together, it is essential to establish a living-based social support system for middle-aged adults. This will contribute to improving self-esteem among middle-aged adults.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the factors influencing on Codependency of college students from Double ABCX model. This study examined the mediating relationship between boundary ambiguity, internal working model and psychological maladjustment, and then examined the moderating effects of Self-esteem, Social support and World view orientation. This study also examined the relationships of codependency with gender, enonomic level in college students. The results of the study are as follows. First, this study showed that codependency was related to economic level of college students. But it has not significant relationship with gender. Second, the moderating effects of Self-esteem, Social support and World view orientation was not significant. Third, mediating effects of Codependency on Boundary ambiguity, Internal working model and Psychological maladjustment were significant. This study suggested some theoretical and policy implications basing on this analytical results.

  • In this study, we investigate the feasibility of in-situ crack propagation by using a double cleavage drilled compression (DCDC) specimen showing a slow crack velocity down to 0.03 mm/s under 0.01 mm/s of displacement control. Finite element analysis predicted that the DCDC specimens would show at least 4.3 fold delayed crack initiation time than conventional tensile fracture specimens under a constant loading speed. Using DCDC specimens, we were able to observe the in-situ crack propagation process in a particle reinforced transparent polymer composite. Our results confirmed that the DCDC specimen would be a good candidate for the in-situ observation of the behavior of particle reinforced composites with slow crack velocity, such as the self-healing process of micro-particle reinforced composites.

  • An optimal design method for a spoke double-layer cable-net structure (SDLC) is proposed in this study. Simplified calculation models of the SDLC are put forward to reveal the static responses under vertical loads and wind loads. Next, based on an energy principle, the relationship among the initial prestress level, cross-sectional areas of the components, rise height, sag height, overall displacement, and relative deformation is proposed. Moreover, a calculation model of the Foshan Center SDLC is built and optimized. Given the limited loading cases, material properties of the components, and variation ranges of the rise height and sag height, the self-weight and initial prestress level of the entire structure can be obtained. Because the self-weight of the cables decreases with increasing of the rise height and sag height, while the self-weight of the inner strut increases, the total weight of the entire structure successively exhibits a sharp reduction, a gradual decrease, a slow increase, and a sharp increase during the optimization process. For the simplified model, the optimal design corresponds to the combination of rise height and sag height that results in an appropriate prestress level of the entire structure with the minimum total weight.

  • In this paper, the Numerov method is applied to solve the Schroedinger equation for $Al_{0.3}Ga_{0.7}AS/GaAs/Al_{0.3}Ga_{0.7}As$ double-heterojunction HEMT structures. The 3 subband energy levels, corresponding wave functions, 2-dimensional electron gas density, and conduction band edge profile are calculated from a self-consistent iterative solution of the Schroedinger equation and the Poisson equation. In addition, 2-dimensional electron gas densities in a quantum well of double heterostructure are calculated as a function of applied gate voltage. The density in the double heterojunction quantum well is increased to about more than 90%, however, the transconductance of the double heterostructure HEMT is not improved compared to that of the single heterostructure HEMT. Thus, double-heterojunction structures are expected to be suitable to increase the current capability in a HEMT device or a power HEMT structure.
