This study investigated age and sex differences in aggression by quality of peer relationships in 331 adolescents, 11 or 14 years of age in 6 public schools in Seoul. They completed 2 self-reported questionnaires. All subjects were divided into 3 groups by level of aggression. Highly aggressive adolescents had significant vulnerability in peer relationships as contrasted with mid- and low- aggressive groups. They reported more egocentricity, conflict, rejection, and less emotional support from peers. Fourteen-year-old reported more intimacy, more emotional support, and less physical aggression than 11-year-olds. Boys showed much more egocentricity and perceived more rejection than girls. Boys displayed more physical aggression to persons and girls showed more angry expressions. The findings suggest that various intervention programs should be provided for peer relationships of high aggressive adolescents.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify a path diagram for the influence of family, personality, sexual abuse, drug abuse, coping strategies, and aggressive impulsiveness on aggression, and to develop a sublimation program for Korean adolescent's aggression. Method: Data was collected by self-report questionnaires. Subjects consisted of 2,111 adolescents. A proportional stratified random sampling method was used. The major instrument was the Mental Health Questionnaire for Korean Adolescents, and the Cronbach's Alpha ranged from .54 to .95 for each subscale. Statistical methods were Chi-square, correlation analysis, and path analysis. Results: The strongest contributing variables on aggression were person-related aggressive impulsiveness, antisocial personality, self-injured aggressive impulsiveness, gender, sexual abuse, psychosomatic symptoms II, drug abuse, age, parent-child relationship, alcohol abuse and cognitive avoidance coping strategies in the order named. Also the author developed a multi-systemic sublimation program for Korean adolescents's aggression. The multi-systemic sublimation program involves four domains including adolescents, parents, peers and community, and has several therapeutic sub-programs for each domain. Conclusion: The ecology of human development is composed of multiple, integrated levels of organization, including biological, individual-psychological, social-interpersonal, cultural, and historical levels. Therefore, this multi-systemic sublimation program will prevent and decrease the rate of aggressive behavior among Korean adolescents.

The purpose of this study is to examine the dual mediating effects of peer alienation and aggression in the relation between child abuse and delinquency in adolescents. Data were collected from 352 junior high school students living in Jeonbuk from October 2021 to December 2021. This study used a structured self-administered questionnaire to collect the data. In order to analyze the data, SPSS 26.0 and SPSS Process macro 4.0 program were used. The results showed that child abuse had statistically significant positive effect on delinquency via peer alienation. Also, child abuse had statistically significant positive effect on delinquency via aggression. In addition, child abuse had statistically significant positive effect on delinquency via peer alienation and aggression. Therefore, the dual mediating effects of peer alienation and aggression were verified. Based on the study results, implications for preventing adolescents' delinquency and suggestions for future study were discussed.
The aims of this study were to investigate the effects of self-efficacy on adolescents' school adjustments and to identify mediating effects of depression and aggression. To this end, we conducted descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, and path analysis, using data from the 2008 Korean Youth Panel Survey undertaken by the National Youth Policy Institute. Our analysis shows that self-efficacy has positive effects on adolescents' school adjustments, while both depression and aggression have negative effects on adolescents' school adjustments. Moreover, both depression and aggression have a mediating effect when it comes to self-efficacy and school adjustments. These results imply that schools should consider developing a service delivery system by providing students with professional services that enhance self-efficacy. Moreover, such services will be more effective when they are combined with a program that reduces students' depression and aggression.
The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effects of aggression in the relationship between parental conflict and peer relations among adolescents. Data from 482 middle school students of Seoul by self-reported questionnaires are analyzed for the study. The results of this study reveal that there are gender differences in aggression and peer relation of adolescents. For both male and female adolescents, parental conflict is positively related to aggression. Aggression is negatively associated with peer relations of adolescents. Parental conflict and peer relations of adolescents are negatively related. The results from regression analysis indicate that aggression mediates the relationship between parental conflict and peer relations for male and female adolescents. This results suggest the need to consider family experiences and emotional states for understanding of peer relationships in adolescents.
This study investigated the differences of aggression and self-esteem according to adolescents' perceived popularity. Questionnaires were completed by 377 first and second graders of middle and high schools. The major findings were as follows- (1) Adolescents in the popular group showed significantly higher scores on external and relational aggression than those of the general and unpopular groups. (2) The three groups of adolescents were significantly different in various aspects of self-esteem. (3) Aggression was negatively associated with self-esteem.
The purpose of this paper was to verify the mediated effect of grit in the relationship with the effect of youth social support on aggression. To this end, data from the 2018 Children and Youth Panel (KCYPS) survey were used, and 2,590 first-year middle school students were selected and analyzed. As for the analysis method, Baron & Kenny's regression analysis and Sobel Test were performed. As a result of the main analysis, first, it was found that grit had a partial mediating effect in the effect of parental support, a sub-factor of social support of adolescents, on aggression. Second, it was found that grit had a partial mediating effect in the effect of friend support, a sub-factor of social support of adolescents, on aggression. Third, it was found that grit had a partial mediating effect in the effect of teacher support, a sub-factor of social support of adolescents, on aggression. Based on the above research results, various program development and policy alternatives that can reduce youth aggression and improve grit were suggested.

First, it was found out that adolescents' empathy were significantly different depending on gender, school level. But adolescents' aggression did not show any differences. Second, adolescents' aggression was negatively correlated with their self-esteem and empathy. Third, As a regression analysis, it was found that the male students showed a moderating effect of empathy between self-esteem and aggression, but the female students did not showed it. Based on these findings, it was suggested that programs for lowering aggressiveness of adolescents should be developed according to their environment and gender. In addition, the research through nationwide sampling, the research on the empathy related to the female students, and the study on the elementary school students were addressed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare self-esteem, perceived life satisfaction, depression and aggression according to the experience of suicidal impulse in adolescents. Methods: Data were collected from 249 middle and high school students in J city. The constructed questionnaires included items on self-esteem, perceived life satisfaction, depression and aggression. Results: Self-esteem, perceive life satisfaction, depression, and aggression differed significantly between the suicidal impulse group and non-suicidal impulse group. The suicidal impulse group experienced lower self-esteem (OR=3.27), higher depression (OR=12.38) and higher aggression (OR=5.72) than the non-suicidal impulse group. Conclusion: The findings indicate that integrated and effective interventions are needed to prevent suicidal attempts by adolescents who had experiences of suicidal impulse. Information on the cognitive, psychological and social characteristics of adolescents must be considered when developing the interventions.
The purpose of this study is to explore the mediation effects of deficiency on executive function for male adolescents' game addiction and aggression. For this study, 120 male high school students in Chungnam areas were included in the analysis. The results showed that game addiction showed significant correlations with both deficiency on executive function and aggression. Adolescents addicted to games tended to exhibit higher aggression and more deficiency on executive function than adolescents without game addiction. Deficiency on executive function (mediator) partially mediated the influence of the adolescents' game addiction (independent variable) on aggression (dependent variable). Based on these results, it was suggested that self-instructional training would be helpful for game-addicted adolescents to enhance self-control. Finally, limitations of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
