  • Most streams in Korea have been managed mainly for the control of flood or usages of the water for agriculture, industry, and others, resulting in the loss of their natural characteristics. In recent years, ecological system and function of streams are recognized as very important, and a paradigm change in their management is prevailing. This study, first, analyzed recent stream restoration policies and projects and derived major restoration planning factors; second, evaluated relative importance and priority of the factors using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method. The derived planning factors were four factors for the level 1, and sixteen factors for the level 2. Relative importance and priority of each factor were calculated, and finally, a composite relative importance and priority of all the factors were suggested. These findings are hoped to support stream restoration policies and be used in drafting restoration guidelines.

  • In this paper, we propose a priority-based unequal error protection scheme of data partitioned H.264/AVC video with hierarchical quadrature amplitude modulation. In order to map data with higher priority onto the most significant bits of QAM constellation points, a priority sorting method categorizes different data partitions according to the unequal importance factor of encoded video data in one group of pictures by evaluated the average distortion. Then we propose a hierarchical quadrature amplitude modulation arrangement with adaptive constellation distances, which takes into account the unequal importance of encoded video data and the channel status. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the received video quality by about 2 dB in PSNR comparing with the state-of-the-art unequal error protection scheme, and outperforms EEP scheme by up to 5 dB when the average channel SNR is low.

  • In this paper, we wxtend DMSA system to support multimedia traffic more efficiently by incorporating a priority scheme. we divide network stations into two types: asynchronous and isosynchronous stations, and we give a priority to the isosynchronous stations over the asynchronous stations by imposing a time-out constraint on the asynchronous stations . we derive the maximum number of isosynchronous stations the proposed priority scheme can support simultaneously and the maximum bandwidth that can be utilized by asynchronous stations in the presence of isosynchronous traffic. We also provide simulation results for the mixed voice and data traffic, and compare them to the analytic results.

  • A necessity increases but since a many manpower and the budgets are insufficient for archiving all digital resources the digital archiving at the science information center or the digital library has to be successively processed according to the priority. Therefore, in this research, whether it has to archive among digital resources which Korea Institute Science and Technology Information(KISTI) hold around any kind of contents or not makes analysis and valuation around the value for use. The priority evaluation plan that can become the system analysis and reflection based on this automatically tries to be proposed.

  • Asian Branches of International Life Science Institute (ILSI), i.e. China, India, Japan, Korea and South East Asian Region, identified five key public health issue priorities of each region and compared the results. In case of China, India and South East Asian countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand etc. ASEAN countries), communicable diseases were the first priority issue, while elderly issue and food safety were prime issues for Japan and Korea, respectively. Malnutrition was the second priority issue for India and ASEAN countries, whereas non-communicable disease like cancer and degenerative diseases was for Korea and China, and obesity far Japan. Typical issues were smoking for China, nutrition education for China and Japan, biotechnology aiming GMO for India, and functional food causing health claim problem for Korea and Japan. Although the priority varied with the socioeconomic situation of each county, food and water safety recorded the highest priority of all the countries. The key public health issues of Korea were discussed in detail.

  • The general bus system architecture consists of masters, slaves, arbiter, decoder and so on in shared bus. As several masters can't use a bus concurrently, arbiter plays an role in bus arbitration. In compliance with the selection of arbitration method, The efficiency of bus usage can be determined. Fixed Priority, Round-Robin, TDMA, Lottery arbitration are studied in conventional arbitration method. In this paper, we draw the performance analysis of Fixed Priority, Round Robin, TDMA and Lottery bus arbitration policies due to the data traffic concentration and propose the methods of performance improvement.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to suggest agenda priorities for research and development with physical therapy technology. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: A survey was consecutively done to 62 experts working in physical therapy research areas to investigate the priority of the categories. Paired T-tests and Importance-Performance Analysis using SPSS 21.0 package were conducted to find the differences between importance and satisfaction of the categories and the order of priority. Results: In results, it was developed that the research and development with physical therapy technology were divided with 18 categories. And the importance were significantly higher than satisfaction in 18 categories. Specifically, categories about assistive technology and robot rehabilitation were found to be on the high importance and lower performance quadrant. Conclusion: In sum, this study was meaningful in finding usage categories of research and development with physical therapy technology and investigating Importance-Performance differences for deriving research and development with physical therapy technology.

  • To prevent performance degradation of TCP due to packet losses in the smooth handoff by the route optimization extension of Mobile IP protocol, a buffering of packets at a base station is needed. A buffering of packets at a base station recovers those packets dropped during handoff by forwarding buffered packets at the old base station to the mobile user. But, when the mobile user moves to a congested base station in a new foreign subnetwork, those buffered packets forwarded by the old base station are dropped and the wireless link utilization performance degrades due to increased congestion by those forwarded packets. In this paper, considering the case that a mobile user moves to a congested base station in a new foreign subnetwork, we propose an Implicit Priority Packet Forwarding to improve TCP performance in mobile networks. In the proposed scheme, the old base station marks a buffered packet as a priority packet during handoff. In addition, RED (Random Early Detection) at the new congested base station does not include priority packets in queue size and does not drop those packets randomly based on average queue size. Simulation results show that wireless link utilization performance of mobile hosts can be improved without modification to Mobile IP protocol by applying proposed Implicit Priority Packet Forwarding.

  • Two extraction methods, liquid-liquid extraction(LLE) and solid-phase extraction(SPE), coupled with GC/MS were compared as preconcentration procedures for priority pollutants in water. Among the semi-volatile priority pollutants, 11 acid and 44 base/neutral compounds were spiked in reagent water. With LLE, which is a modification of EPA Method 625, the overall mean recovery of the 54 compounds was 91% with a mean relative standard deviation(RSD) of 4.6%. With SPE, the overall mean recovery of the 52 compounds was 53% with a mean RSD of 8.9%. The detection limits of both methods were in the range of $1{\sim}5{\mu}g/l$.
