This study aims to categorize articles in terms of childrearing focused on health and hygiene in Chosun-ilbo and Donga-ilbo in 1920s. As part of this aim we will look into the role of mothers reflected within these articles. Content analysis was used to accomplish the specific objectives of this study. All these articles emphasized the prudent role of mothers and pointed to the fact that holistic knowledge was needed to perform the role of a mother effectively. In other words, mothers had to know about child disease, hygiene, breast milk, nutrition, food, snacks, sleep, exercise and security. Interestingly, the most important matter emphasized in these articles was hygiene. In 1920s, the role of mothers in generally family life was held in high regards in Korean society. In particular, their role within the framework of young children’s health and hygiene was emphasized.

No matter how one chooses the major arcs in the decomposition of $[x_0,\;x_0+1]$ it is always true with regard to the union, m(n), of the corresponding minor arcs that the integal of $f^2(x,\;n)$ e(-nx) over m(n) is $O(nlog^{-1}n)$. Consequently, to establish a proof of the asymptotic formulation of Goldbach's conjecture one might be tempted to take this fact as a starting point and to then concentrate the attact on trying to obtain the requisite estimate on the integral of $f^2(x,\;n)$ e(-nx) over M(n), the union of a suitably chosen family of major arcs. In this paper I show that this approach is not possible.

This article is a suggestion for SME policy in Korea for the attention of the senior policy-experiencer of the whole nation, the Advisor to the President of Korea. This article is written from the perspective of technology policy experts, not SME experts. In spite of many SME policies, the issue of SMEs in Korea is worsening, not being resolved. Technology-oriented policies are effective for each company, but the role of SMEs is gradually decreasing in the Korean economy. Reflecting on this fact, I would like to suggest measures that include long-term, but social as well as educational. The solution I suggested is coexistence since sustainable growth through SMEs is not just an economic or social issue. It is a matter of survival. I propose four types of coexistence: corporate, local, human, and coexistence with nature. Getting coexistence works requires a change in social norms that mobilize even education.

SiOB is an essential part of slim optical pickup, where the silicon mirror, LD stand, silicon PD are integrated and LD is flip chip bonded. SiOB is fabricated with bulk micromachining. Especially the fabrication of silicon wafer with stepped concave areas has many extraordinary difficulties. As a matter of fact, experiences and knowledges are rare in the fabrication of the highly stepped silicon wafer. The difficulties occurring in the integration of PD and SiOB, and highly stepped patterning, and silicon mirror roughness and how-to-solve will be discussed.

For the observation of treeing, a visual measurement with an optical microscope has been used to explain breakdown mechanism in high-voltage systems. The conventional directed visual method of tree aging observation is difficult to measure in short time processing, and it is impossible to analyze on tree degradation area, progressed direction, tree pattern, etc. By using an image processing technique, the tree features which appear immediately after the tree initiation as well as changes in the configuration of the tree can be easily measured and observed than using the conventional visual methods. In this paper, we have developed a tree observating system by using image processing for tree growth, degradation area and other treeing progress. As an experimental result, it can be concluded that the image processing method is a more effective alternative than directed visual observation method. As a matter of fact, it is possible to record the image of tree propagation immediately after its first appearance and explain the characteristics of tree growth froth the computer processing image.

The main sources of interstellar dust are believed to be dust envelopes around AGB stars. The outflowing envelopes around the long period pulsating variables are very suitable place for massive dust formation. Oxygen-rich silicate dust grains or carbon-rich dust grains form in the envelopes around AGB stars depending on the chemical composition of the stellar surface. The dust grains expelled from AGB stars get mixed up and go through some physical and chemical changes in interstellar medium. There are similarities and differences between interstellar dust and dust grains in AGB stars. The mass cycle in the Galaxy may be best manifested by the fact that the dust grains at various regions have many similarities and understandable differences.

In order to strengthen objectivity and availability of oriental herb medicine, the standard formula for herbs has been attempted to set up by documentary testing original herbs which were recorded in authorized document. The object herb medicines are CARYOPHYLLI FLOS. After this study, additional experimental verification is required as a matter of fact. As comparison materials, this thesis will be utilized. Specially the internal and external morphological standard in this study is expected to supply the search for several physiochemical reaction, biological reaction, determination of indicator material and identification of gene with basic sources in the future.

Due to the fact that high speed railroad will be opened to traffic and TSR and TCR will be connected to Korean railroad network in near future, the efficient operation methods of Railroad freight transportation have been embossed as a matter of concern. But, it is true that the present level of our railway infrastructures and operation systems are still low. This study examines the freight transportation system and introduces new logistic service systems including network strategies and terminals which are haying developed overseas to increase the efficiency of existing railroad transportation system. In case of giving careful consideration to the new methods, it is expected that the high developed freight transportation systems will be applicable to our country.

Recently, research of reinforcement mechanism in a sense of soil mechanics has been under way by many researchers with developing various kinds of geoteutiles. But it must be consider that reinforcement effect largely depends on used geotextile even if it is used on same in-site condition. As a matter of fact it is not necessarily that reinforcement effect appears in all the case of reinforced soil construction. It means that appropriate geotextile coincided with the intention has to be selected and adequate examination is needed. In this study, reinforcement effect with various kinds of geotextiles are compared through a series of direct shear tests. Based on the test results, shear strength characteristics and reinforced effects are investigated quantitatively and qualitatively considering the confining stress, reinforcement characteristics and number of reinforcement.
