Implementation of Interactive Media Content Production Framework based on Gesture Recognition (제스처 인식 기반의 인터랙티브 미디어 콘텐츠 제작 프레임워크 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose a content creation framework that enables users without programming experience to easily create interactive media content that responds to user gestures. In the proposed framework, users define the gestures they use and the media effects that respond to them by numbers, and link them in a text-based configuration file. In the proposed framework, the interactive media content that responds to the user's gesture is linked with the dynamic projection mapping module to track the user's location and project the media effects onto the user. To reduce the processing speed and memory burden of the gesture recognition, the user's movement is expressed as a gray scale motion history image. We designed a convolutional neural network model for gesture recognition using motion history images as input data. The number of network layers and hyperparameters of the convolutional neural network model were determined through experiments that recognize five gestures, and applied to the proposed framework. In the gesture recognition experiment, we obtained a recognition accuracy of 97.96% and a processing speed of 12.04 FPS. In the experiment connected with the three media effects, we confirmed that the intended media effect was appropriately displayed in real-time according to the user's gesture.

  • In this paper, we propose an end-to-end deep learning model combining Bayesian neural network with Korean speech recognition. In the past, Korean speech recognition was a complicated task due to the excessive parameters of many intermediate steps and needs for Korean expertise knowledge. Fortunately, Korean speech recognition becomes manageable with the aid of recent breakthroughs in "End-to-end" model. The end-to-end model decodes mel-frequency cepstral coefficients directly as text without any intermediate processes. Especially, Connectionist Temporal Classification loss and Attention based model are a kind of the end-to-end. In addition, we combine Bayesian neural network to implement the end-to-end model and obtain Monte Carlo estimates. Finally, we carry out our experiments on the "WorimalSam" online dictionary dataset. We obtain 4.58% Word Error Rate showing improved results compared to Google and Naver API.

Analysis of Satisfaction of Pre-service and In-service Elementary Teachers with Artificial Intelligence Education using App Inventor

  • This paper analyzes the level of satisfaction of two groups of teachers who were educated about artificial intelligence using App Inventor. The participants were 13 pre-service and 9 in-service elementary school teachers and the data was collected using a questionnaire. As a result of the study, in-service teachers were all more satisfied than pre-service teachers in terms of interest, difficulty, and participation in the education. In addition, the questions investigating whether education helped motivate learning of artificial intelligence and whether there is a willingness to apply it to elementary classes in the future were also more positive for in-service teachers than for pre-service teachers. In general, pre-service teachers had somewhat more negative views than in-service teachers, but they were more positive than in-service teachers in terms of whether the education helped improve their understanding of artificial intelligence and whether they were willing to participate in additional education. Analysis of the Mann-Whitney test to see if there was a significant difference in satisfaction between the two groups showed no significance. This may be because most of the students in the two groups already had block-type or text-type programming experience, so they were able to participate in the education without any special resistance or difficulty with App Inventor, resulting in high levels of satisfaction from both groups. The results of this study can provide basic data for the future development and operation of programs for artificial intelligence education for both pre-service and in-service elementary school teachers.

Data Mining and Construction of Database Concerning Effects of Vitis Genus (산머루 관련 정보수집 및 데이터베이스의 구축)

  • The database for the oriental medicine had been existed in documentation in past times and it has been developed to the database type for random accesses in the information society. However, the aspects of the database are not so diversified and the database for the bio herbal material exists in widened type dictionary style. It is a situation that the database which handles the in-depth raw herbal medicines is not sufficient in its quantity and quality. Korean wild grape is a deciduous plant categorized into the Vitaceae and it was found experimentally that it has various medical effects. It is one of the medical materials with higher potentiality of academic study and commercialization recently because it has a bigger possibility to be applied into diverse industrial fields including the medical product for health, food and beauty. We constituted the cooperative system among the Muju cluster business group for Korean mountain wild grapes, Physiology Laboratory in Kyung Hee University Oriental Medicine and Medical Classics Laboratory in Kyung Hee University Oriental Medicine with a view to focusing on such potentiality and a database for Korean wild grapes was made a touchstone for establishing the in-depth database for the single bio medical materials. First of all, the literatures based on the North East Asia in ancient times had been categorized into the classical literature (Korean literature published by government organization, Korean classical literature, Chinese classical literature and classical literature fro Korean and Chinese oriental medicine) and modern literature (Modern literature for oriental medicine, modern literature for domestic and foreign herbal medicine) to cover the eastern and western research records and writings related to Korean wild grapes and the text-mining work has been performed through the cooperation system with the Medical Classics Laboratory in Kyung Hee University Oriental Medicine. First of all, the data for the experiment and theory for Korean wild grape were collected for the Medline database controlled by the Parliament Library of USA to arrange the domestic and foreign theses with topic for Korean wild grapes and the network hyperlink function and down load function were mounted for self-thesis searching function and active view based on the collected data. The thesis searching function provides various auxiliary functions and the searching is available according to the diverse searching/queries such as the name of sub species of Korean wild grape, the logical intersection index for the active ingredients, efficacy and elements. It was constituted for the researchers who design the Korean wild grape study to design of easier experiment. In addition, the data related to the patents for Korean wild grape which were collected from European Patent Office in response to the commercialization possibility and the system available for searching and view was established in the same viewpoint. Perl was used for the query programming and MS-SQL for database establishment and management in the designing of this database. An Analysis of the Use of Media Materials in School Health Education and Related Factors in Korea (학과보건교육에서의 매체활용실태 및 영향요인 분석)

  • The objectives of this study are to explain the use of media materials in school health education with other related factors in elementary, middle, and high schools in Korea. The data were collected by questionnaires from June to September in 1998. The number of subjects were 294 school nurses. The PC-SAS program was used for statistical analysis such as percent distribution, chi-squared test, spearman correlation test, and logistic regression. The use of media materials in health education has become extremely common. Unfortunately, much of the early materials were of poor production quality, reflected low levels of interest, and generally did little to enhance health education programming. A recent trend in media materials is a move away from the fact filled production to a more affective, process-oriented approach. There is an obvious need for health educators to use high-quality, polished productions in order to counteract the same levels of quality used by commercial agencies that often promote "unhealthy" lifestyles. Health educators need to be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of the various forms of media. Selecting media materials should be based on more than cost, availability, and personal preference. Selection should be based on the goal of achieving behavioral objectives formulated before the review process begins. The decision to use no media materials rather than something of dubious quality usually be the right decision. Poor-quality, outdated, or boring materials will usually have a detrimental effect on the presentation. Media materials should be viewed as vehicles to enhance learning, not products that will stand in isolation. Process of materials is an essential part of the educational process. The major results were as follows : 1. The elementary schools used the materials more frequently. But the production rate of media materials was not enough. The budget was too small for a wide use of media materials in school health education. These findings suggest that all schools have to increase the budget of health education programs. 2. Computers offer an incredibly diverse set of possibilities for use in health education, ranging from complicated statistical analysis to elementary-school-level health education games. But the use rate of this material was not high. The development of related software is essential. Health educators would be well advised to develop a basic operating knowledge of media equipment. 3. In this study, the most effective materials were films in elementary school and videotapes in middle and high school. Film tends to be a more emotive medium than videotape. The difficulties of media selection involved the small amount of extant educational materials. Media selection is a multifaceted process and should be based on a combination of sound principles. 4. The review of material use following student levels showed that the more the contents were various, the more the use rate was high. 5. Health education videotapes and overhead projectors proved the most plentiful and widest media tools. The information depicted was more likely to be current. As a means to display both text and graphic information, this instructional medium has proven to be both effective and enduring. 6. An analysis of how effective the quality of school nurse and school use of media materials shows a result that is not complete (p=0.1113). But, the budget of health education is a significant variable. The increase of the budget therefore is essential to effective use of media materials. From these results it is recommended that various media materials be developed and be wide used.
