  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine engagement and satisfaction with a mobile web-based education program (HiChart) among pregnant women. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted of 97 pregnant women hospitalized for obstetric care. Data were collected from October 1 to November 30, 2016, and were analyzed with descriptive statistics. Results: Among participants, 16.5% engaged fully with HiChart, while 43.3% engaged partially. The overall satisfaction with HiChart was high. Some main reasons for not engaging with the education were participants' unawareness of the text messages, lack of time, and poor internet connection. The participants suggested that more educational content needed to be covered, such as coping with infant emergencies and information about the neonatal intensive care unit. Conclusion: To increase pregnant women's engagement with mobile web-based education, efforts are needed to strengthen the system of sending text messages as part of mobile web-based education to all patients, to inform pregnant women that an educational web link was sent, and to encourage them to engage with mobile web-based education. Furthermore, it is essential to improve the HiChart service by providing educational content corresponding to users' needs.

  • Introduction: Although continuing education is necessary for practicing nurses, it is very difficult to organize traditional classes because of large numbers of nurses and working shifts. Considering the increasing development of mobile electronic learning, we carried out a study to compare effects of the traditional face to face method with mobile learning delivered as text messages by cell phone. Materials and Methods: Sixty female nurses working in our hospital were randomly divided into class and short message service (SMS) groups. Lessons concerning breast cancer screening were prepared as 54 messages and sent in 17 days for the SMS group, while the class group participated in a class held by a university lecturer of breast and cancer surgery. Pre- and post-tests were undertaken for both groups at the same time; a retention test also was performed one month later. For statistical analysis, the paired T test and the independent sample T test were used with SPSS software version 16; p<0.05 was considered significant. Results: Mean age and mean work experience of participants in class and SMS groups was $35.8{\pm}7.2$, $9.8{\pm}6.7$, $35.4{\pm}7.3$, and $11.5{\pm}8.5$, respectively. There was a significant increase in mean score post-tests (compared with pretests) in both groups (p<0.05). Although a better improvement in scores of retention tests was demonstrated in the SMS group, the mean subtraction value of the post- and pretests as well as retention- and pretests showed no significant difference between the 2 groups (p=0.3 and p =0.2, respectively). Conclusions: Our study shows that teaching via SMS may probably replace traditional face to face teaching for continuing education in working nurses. Larger studies are suggested to confirm this.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mobile phone text messaging on the collision avoidance strategy for an approaching and stationary pedestrian. Method: Eighteen healthy young adults participated in this study. Each participant was asked to perform a task to walking with/without mobile phone text messaging and a task to avoid collisions with another pedestrian who was approaching or stationary during walking. Results: When text messaging with avoidance collision, it showed an early onset time, a larger mediolateral COM trajectory, trunk rotation angle and trunk rotation velocity (p<.05). Also, compared to an approaching pedestrian, when avoiding collision with a stationary pedestrian, it showed a later onset time, a lager avoidance displacement, mediolateral COM trajectory, trunk rotation angle (p<.05). Conclusion: Results suggest that mobile phone text messaging while collision avoidance leads to delay the perception stage and alters the adaptation stage. Consequently, pedestrian executed in an exaggerated avoidance action to create a greater safety margin when attending to mobile phone test messages while avoiding another pedestrian.

  • This ethnography explored, the emergent writing and literacy of two-year-old children in classroom. The specific purpose of the study focuses on toddler's text appropriation from text environment and on social interaction between teachers and toddlers. The result showed that toddlers appropriated writing signs or words from their own text-environment and used it as the instrument for social interaction and communication. Specifically, they initiated social interaction by giving messages of their appropriated signs to adults as teachers, who were easily capable of communication. This led to all toddlers' involvement in message exchange in the classroom. Toddlers' marks of scribbles were also consisted of different kinds of lines and circles. Those marks have different meaning and. symbolic systems: drawing and writing graphics. Even though drawing and writing graphics developed as different symbol systems in toddlers' marks, each system helped to extend each other.

  • As smart devices and social network services (SNSs) become increasingly pervasive, individuals produce large amounts of data in real time. Accordingly, studies on unstructured data analysis are actively being conducted to solve the resultant problem of information overload and to facilitate effective data processing. Many such studies are conducted for filtering inappropriate information. In this paper, a feature-weighting method considering SNS-message features is proposed for the classification of short text messages generated on SNSs, using Markov logic networks for category inference. The performance of the proposed method is verified through a comparison with an existing frequency-based classification methods.

  • Background in a novel is most important elements with characters and events, and means time, place and situation that characters appeared. Among the background, spatial background can help conveys topic of a novel. So, it may be helpful for choosing a novel that readers want to read. In this paper, we are targeting Korean historical novels. In case of English text, It can be recognize spatial background easily because it use upper and lower case and words used with the spatial information such as Bank, University and City. But, in case Korean text, it is difficult to recognize that spatial background because there is few information about usage of letter. In the previous studies, they use machine learning or dictionaries and rules to recognize about spatial information in text such as news and text messages. In this paper, we build a nation dictionaries that refer to information such as 'Korean history' and 'Google maps.' We Also propose a method for recognizing spatial background based on patterns of postposition in Korean sentences comparing to previous works. We are grasp using of postposition with spatial background because Korean characteristics. And we propose a method based on result of morpheme analyze and frequency in a novel text for raising accuracy about recognizing spatial background. The recognized spatial background can help readers to grasp the atmosphere of a novel and to understand the events and atmosphere through recognition of the spatial background of the scene that characters appeared.

  • Text analysis technique for natural language processing in deep learning represents words in vector form through word embedding. In this paper, we propose a method of constructing a document vector and classifying it into spam and normal text message, using word embedding and deep learning method. Automatic spacing applied in the preprocessing process ensures that words with similar context are adjacently represented in vector space. Additionally, the intentional word formation errors with non-alphabetic or extraordinary characters are designed to avoid being blocked by spam message filter. Two embedding algorithms, CBOW and skip grams, are used to produce the sentence vector and the performance and the accuracy of deep learning based spam filter model are measured by comparing to those of SVM Light.

  • The international standard AIS, which stands for the safety of ship navigation and vessel traffic management, provides 27 messages to exchange the navigational information of ship. Among 27 messages, message ID 6 and 8 are defined as the binary data format to exchange application specific information and are classified into IFM for international use and RFM for national or regional use. Since international standards are based on English, there have been some needs to exchange data in Hangul text for vessel traffic management to correct the static and dynamic ships' information. In this paper, I analyze international standards to provide a Hangul text messaging service based on RFM and propose a RFM message and a simple protocol to correct information of a ship.
