  • The performance of the railway bogie is classified into the stability and the steering performance. Testing for the bogie stability is conducted on the roller rig, but testing for the bogie steering performance on test facility is very difficult, so the testing for the vehicle curving performance is conducted on the real curve track. Testing the railway bogie on the full scale test rig is desirable, but it caused many problems relating to test costs and test time. As a possible alternative to overcome these problems, a small scaled test rig is actively used in the field of bogie stability. Thus, in this paper, we have studied a scaled track to test the bogie steering performance. For this purpose, we designed the 1/5 scaled test track equivalent to radius 200 curve and confirmed the validity of the testing for the bogie steering performance on the sealed curve track through the testing using 1/5 scaled bogie.

  • In this paper, we have studied scale tools for measure programming task value and learning persistence at elementary school students. In order to develop complete test tools, we have improved the completeness by revising tests through stepwise verification. The first scales were constructed based on the previous studies. As a result of the content validity test, 5 out of 14 items of the task value test tool and 1 out of 10 items of the learning persistence test were not suitable. The second test tools were constructed by revising and supplementing the first scale, and consisted of 13 items of task value and 8 items of learning persistence. As a result of the contents validity test, all the items included in the test tool proved to be valid. The reliability of the secondary testing tools were also found to be reliable at ${\alpha}=.970$ and ${\alpha}=.975$, respectively.

  • This study is aimed at proposing a new research model in which application store intention to acceptance influence factors (i.e.. facilitating condition, mobile computing self-efficacy, service compatibility, and system quality) affect TAM (i.e., perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use) positively, leading to application store intention to acceptance eventually. This study developed a research model to explain the use of Apple's App Store, and collected 228 survey responses from the undergraduate students who had experiences with such application store services as game and personal information management application download. To prove the validity of the proposed research model, PLS analysis is applied with valid 228 questionnaires. By employing PLS technique, the measurement reliability and validity of research variables are tested and the path analysis is conducted to do the hypothesis testing. In brief, the finding of this study suggests that application store intention to acceptance influence factors affect TAM positively, and application store intention to acceptance as well.

  • It is necessary for humans who have been facing environmental problems to build a sustainable society in which economic activities coexist with nature. To realize such goals, it is essential to promote and enhance environmental education, and to raise global awareness of environmental issues. As a preceding study, a board game "Ecopoly" based on the Kyoto protocol and the estate dealings game, was developed and the validity of environmental education was verified. This study further aims to develop a computer game "Ecopoly", based on the board game which enables us to learn the relationship between environmental problems and economic activities, and to learn more about environmental problems. This computer game enables to concentrate on it by automatic complicated calculations, and to get a higher visual effect compared with the board game. Experimental testing of the game was conducted with 13 college student subjects, and the validity of the game was verified.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop the Job Esteem Scale for Korean Nurses (JES-KN) and verify its validity and reliability. Methods: Preliminary items were based on the attributes and indicators elicited from a concept analysis study on Korean nurses' job-esteem. The final preliminary tool for the main survey was confirmed through the content validity test of 10 experts and preliminary survey of 20 hospital nurses. The final preliminary scale was used on 350 hospital nurses in the scale testing phase for the main survey designed to test the validity and reliability of the scale. Results: The final scale consisted of 28 items and 6 factors, these factor explained 66.6% of the total variance. The correlation between the total score and factors ranged from .64 and .84, validating that each sub-factor is suitable to explain job esteem. The correlation coefficient between this scale and the Job Satisfaction Scale for Clinical Nurses ranged from .41 to .70, and the internal consistency for the scale using Cronbach's α for the total items was .94. Conclusion: The JES-KN is a valid and reliable tool that reflects the reality of clinical sites accordingly. The JES-KN may well be used effectively to assess and evaluate the job esteem of Korean nurses.

  • A new cluster validity index is proposed that determines the optimal partition and optimal number of clusters for fuzzy partitions obtained from the fuzzy c-means algorithm. The proposed validity index exploits an overlap measure and a separation measure between clusters. The overlap measure is obtained by computing an inter-cluster overlap. The separation measure is obtained by computing a distance between fuzzy clusters. A good fuzzy partition is expected to have a low degree of overlap and a larger separation distance. Testing of the proposed index and nine previously formulated indexes on well-known data sets showed the superior effectiveness and reliability of the proposed index in comparison to other indexes.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted in order to develop and test a measurement for assessment of stress of female marriage immigrants in Korea. Methods: Forty four preliminary items were initially developed based on literature review and focus group interviews. Those items were evaluated by experts for content validity, resulting in six factors and 26 items. The 26 items were translated into Chinese, Vietnamese, and English by professional translators and were reviewed by native speakers of each language who are fluent in Korean. For testing validity and reliability, data were collected from 323 female marriage immigrants residing in five regions in Korea. Results: As a result of item analysis, 25 items were selected. Factor analysis yielded 21 items in four factors, including 1) household economic 2) parenting and discrimination 3) cultural and 4) emotional stressors, explaining 61.3% of the total variance of stress of female marriage immigrants in Korea. The Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient was .903 for the overall instrument and .692-.892 for four factors. Conclusion: Measurement of stress for female marriage immigrants in Korea has high validity and reliability. Therefore, this measurement may be utilized for systematic assessment of stress and for identification of areas of support for female marriage immigrants in Korea.

  • This study was conducted to design long and short forms of reliable and valid Likert-type scales to measure environmental attitudes of Korean junior high school students. 8 tests were applied to the construction of a 32-item long form and 8-item short form of the scale. Two scales were field tested on 469 respondents consisting of male and female students in urban and rural areas and students participating in environmental programs. The 32-item scale was revealed to be highly reliable, content and construct valid. Reliability and homogeneity of this scale were evidenced by 0.92 coefficient alpha and positive interitem correlation values ranging from 0.10 to 0.52. Factor analysis and known-group comparison showed the sufficient validity of long form scale. Reliability and validity of short form scale were also evidenced by good results of 8 test analyses. The long and short forms were strongly correlated, ${\gamma}$-value of 0.90. Consequently, both long form and short form scales were evidenced very reliable and valid in measuring environmental attitudes of junior high school students in Korea. They can be useful for a variety of survey conditions and constraints and testing environmental attitude.
