대학수학능력시험 수험생들의 한의과대학 진학 동기 및 한의의료에 대한 인식 조사 (The CSAT(College Scholastic Ability Test) Test-Takers' Favor of Entering Korean Medicine College and the Perception toward The Korean Medicine)

  • Objectives : The study was aimed to analyze the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) test-takers' favor of entering Korean Medicine college and their perception toward the Korean Medicine. The study will present information that can be used for university administrator and in medical education field. Methods : A questionnaire was developed, comprising categories about the favor of entering Korean Medicine college, the experience and reason of receiving Korean Medicine healthcare treatment, and the perception toward the Korean Medicine. Face validity and content validity of the developed questionnaire were tested before survey. Then the questionnaires were distributed to 168 CSAT test-takers. Results : The most positive reason of entering Korean Medicine college is the characteristic of job, while the negative one is of the characteristic of the discipline. Respondents who answered as positive toward Korean Medicine are more than those who answered as negative. The most positive reason of receiving Korean Medicine healthcare treatment and perceiving Korean Medicine positively is because of its medical effectiveness. The most negative reason is responded as et cetera in both categories. Conclusions : The results of the survey may indicate that by promoting recent research progresses in Korean Medicine and benefits from choosing a career as medical professions, more CSAT test-takers will have positive attitude toward Korean Medicine college entrance. Also by promoting the medical effectiveness of Korean medicine to CSAT test-takers, more CSAT test-takers will receive or have positive attitude toward Korean Medicine healthcare service.

한국어능력시험 고급 쓰기 문항 연구 (A Study on High-Level Essay Writing Questions in TOPIK)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether high-level(level 6) essay-writing questions in Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) have been presented appropriately so as to enable foreign test-takers to display their Korean writing ability properly, and to provide some suggestions on how those questions need to be changed. To accomplish this purpose, all the essay-writing questions were collected from the 33 TOPIK tests, from the 2nd in 1998 to the 35thin 2014, and analyzed from the perspectives of their topics and formats. The results are that high-level TOPIK essay-writing questions showed a strong tendency to take as their topics Korean sociocultural structures and phenomena, or current issues in Korea, and that they frequently employed guided writing formats by providing preset ideas or/and contexts for test-takers to write in a guided way; such tendencies were analyzed to shed a negative influence on test-takers displaying their writing ability and creativity, because those topics and preset ideas or contexts provided do not allow them to express their own opinions or positions freely. It is suggested that TOPIK essay-writing questions should be changed to deal with objective and general topics which enable test-takers to write freely and logically in Korean based on their experience, because TOPIK is not a test to check whether they have enough background knowledge about the Korean society and culture, but a test to assess their Korean proficiency.

ICT 실무능력 평가 모델(TOPCIT)의 확산사례 분석 및 정책적 시사점 (An Analysis of the proliferation Case of TOPCIT(Test of Practical Competency in ICT) and policy implications)

  • 본 연구에서는 ICT산업종사자 및 소프트웨어(SW)개발자에게 요구되는 핵심역량을 진단하고 평가하기 위해 운영 중인 TOPCIT의 추진배경과 모델을 소개하고, 국내외 적용과 확산사례를 통해 글로벌 ICT SW역량평가 제도로서 발전해 나가기 위한 정책적 시사점을 도출하였다. 해외 확산과정 중 2015년에 시행된 Pilot 테스트의 응시자에 대한 설문조사와 시험결과를 분석하였고, 2014년부터 시행된 국 내외 정기평가 결과에 대한 응시자의 점수분포를 비교분석해 본 결과 평균점수에는 차이가 없었으나 최고점수에 있어서는 국내 응시자가 높은 수준을 보여주었고, 영어를 능숙하게 사용하는지 여부에 따라 평균점수 차이가 나타나고 있어 TOPCIT 글로벌화 추진시 현지화에 중점을 두어야 할 것으로 파악되었다.

한국어능력시험 20년 발전사와 최근 동향 -1997년 제1회 시험부터 2016년 제52회 시험까지- (The Developmental History and Recent Trends of TOPIK: from the 1st TOPIK in 1997 through the 52nd TOPIK in 2016)

  • This article explores the developmental history of TOPIK over the last 20 years and its recent trends. Over the last two decades, TOPIK underwent two major systematic reforms, achieving both quantitative and qualitative growth over the course of its 52 testing sessions. TOPIK has utilized a six-level evaluation system from its inception to the present. The evaluation system was amended from the earlier six-test set - whereby each level corresponded with a separate test (1997~2005: the $1^{st}{\sim}9^{th}$) - to the three-test set (2006~2014: the $10^{th}{\sim}34^{th}$), and finally to the two-test set (2014~present: the $35^{th}{\sim}42^{nd}$). In the earlier exams, abilities in Vocabulary Grammar, Writing, Listening, and Reading were assessed. However, beginning with the $35^{th}$ TOPIK, abilities in Listening, Reading, and Writing (only in TOPIK II) were assessed and the evaluation of the writing section was changed to a task-based process, improving TOPIK into a more qualified analysis of proficiency. Over the last 20 years, the number of countries TOPIK is administered in has greatly increased from 4 to 73 countries, and the annual number of test-takers has also significantly increased from 2,692 to 250,141. The distribution of proficiency levels of the test-takers has shifted over time - initially "Beginner>Intermediate>Advanced" in the earlier exams, to "Intermediate>Advanced>Beginner" after the mid 2000s - as the number of those studying the Korean language for specific purposes and continuing education increased. Test-takers have indicated a shift in their purpose for taking the exam, initially citing "to assess proficiency" and more recently selecting "to study abroad," and this could also correlate with changes in the proportion of test-takers' proficiency level. In general, 85~95% of beginner, 50~65% of intermediate, and 45~60% of advanced test applicants passed the respective proficiency level. To date, no practices have yet been implemented to standardize the difficulty level longitudinally across test sets.

Linguistic and Educational Factors Affecting TOEFL Scores: Focusing on Three OECD Countries in EFL contexts

  • This study aims at investigating the linguistic and educational factors affecting TOEFL scores, focusing on three OECD countries, Korea, Japan, and Finland. The data comprise document analysis on curriculums, websites, and literature. The findings reveal that the number of Korean test-takers and their TOEFL scores gradually increased year by year. Finnish test-takers consistently gained greatly high scores, and Japanese examinees showed the lowest scores. The languages Korean, Japanese, and Finnish are all far distant from English and receive little support on historical grounds from the Indo-European family tree. In Finland, however, Swedish which belongs to Indo-European languages is still used as an official language with Finnish. Korea and Finland adopt English education from Year 3 in primary school, whereas English is not an official subject in primary school at present in Japan. Finnish students are taught a foreign language in addition to English from primary school. These seem to support the result of the high TOEFL scores of Finnish test-takers. This study concludes that social context which includes linguistic and educational environments are the main factors which affect TOEFL scores.

의사소통 능력 측정 도구로서의 공인 영어 표준화 시험 타당도 (Validity of TOEFL, TOEIC and TEPS as a measure of communicative competence)

  • The scores of TOEFL, TOEIC and TEPS have been increasingly used for many purposes in Korea In particular, these test scores are being used as a measure of the test-takers' overall communicative competence. Nonetheless, few studies have been conducted that investigate the validity of the test scores used for this purpose. As a preliminary step to explore the validity of the test scores, we conducted a small scale study by comparing 30 university students' scores in TOEFL, TOElC and TEPS with their class performances in English conversation and composition courses. The correlations between the test scores and the grade point averages of the courses show that the test scores are much harder to use as a valid measure of test-takers' overall communicative competence than usually thought to be and that the score in TOEFL is, nonetheless, a more reliable measure than the ones in the other tests. Although tins study has a few limitations such as the small number of participants, the homogeneity of the sample as a group, etc, it provides some insight into the use of the three tests for measurement of overall communicative proficiency and suggests need for conducting further validation studies in these areas.

Comparative Study of Korean and Chinese University Students' Economics and Business Literacy

  • Purpose - This study attempts a multifaceted analysis utilizing the Chinese test takers' results of the Economy & Business Aptitude Test. Since Chinese students study socialist theories of economics along with market-based ones, comparing Chinese university students' basic knowledge of economics and business and its application to those of Korean test takers is also very meaningful from the perspective of economics education research. Research design, data, and methodology - This study investigates the results on the test of economy and business understanding between Korea and China. For comparison of the result, we conducted MK-TEST for two universities in China. Result - This study finds that the average correct answer rate of Korea is higher than one of China according to the overall results. The average difference rate is about 15% between Korea and China. More concretely, the correct answer rate of business area is higher than one of economy area, identifying them by subject area. Conclusion - According to the results, this study can infer that there are no or little differences in the ability of examinee to solve applied questions between Korea and China and the differences of the scope and emphasis point in an academic curriculum between both countries might bring these kinds of results. Finally, Chinese students shows higher correct answer rate to the questions about the economy issues and policies related to China than one of Korea examinee.

신뢰성관리 - 품질경영기사 시험의 측면에서 (Reliability Management - From the Perspective of Quality Management Engineer Test)

  • 본 연구에서는 신뢰성관리의 측면에서 우리나라에서 시행하고 있는 품질경영기사 시험에서 신뢰성관리 부문의 문제점과 개선방안에 대해 살펴보았다. 우선 용어가 통일되어 있지 않고, 신뢰성분석에 꼭 필요한 일부 기법들이 포함되지 않은 것에 문제가 있는 것으로 보인다. 본 연구에서는 우리나라 사람이 종종 취득하는 외국(특히 미국)의 품질 및 신뢰성과 관련된 자격제도에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 특히 CRE 시험은 우리나라의 품질경영기사 시험 내 신뢰성관리 부문의 내용과 거의 중첩됨을 알 수 있다. 하지만 미국은 오픈북 시험인 반면 우리나라는 그렇지 않으므로 수험자 편에서는 외워야 할 식이 너무 많다는 것이 문제이다. 또한 데이터에 대한 분석을 컴퓨터 소프트웨어를 사용하지 않고 수작업으로 해야 한다. 우리나라 시험도 CRE 시험에서와 같이 오픈북 시험을 본다면 단편적인 지식을 뛰어넘어 신뢰성관리에서 꼭 필요한 요소를 갖췄는지 점검할 수 있는 시험이 될 것이다. 마지막으로 우리나라도 미국에서와 같이 자격시험을 통과한 경우 일정 기간 내 교육, 업무 등을 통해 재인증을 받도록 한다면 정보의 홍수 속에 살고 있는 현대인에 걸맞은 자격증이 될 것이다.

문항반응이론에 따른 지필 시험과 컴퓨터적용 시험의 난이도와 변별도 분석: 치과기공사 국가시험을 중심으로 (Analysis of the difficulty and discrimination of paper-based tests and computer-based tests according to item response theory: focusing on the National Dental Technician Examination)

  • Purpose: This study analyzes the difficulty and discrimination of the paper-based test (PBT) and the computer-based test (CBT) according to item response theory, focusing on the National Dental Technician Examination. Methods: A mock test was conducted from September 15 to 23, 2020, and the final 179 (1 out of 180 absentees)people were the subjects of this study. Both frequency analysis and factor analysis were performed. The collected data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 18.0 (IBM) and jMetrik programs. The significance level was set to 0.05. Results: The difficulty of the mock test was more easily responded to in CBT. It was also predicted that the CBT could better measure the ability of test takers than the PBT could. Conclusion: The difficulty, discrimination, and reliability of the questions were not affected by the examination method through the mock test. The feasibility of a future change to the CBT was confirmed by the National Dental Technician Examination.

조경기술사 시험의 출제경향 - 현행 기출문제에 대한 수험생의 인식정도를 중심으로 - (Tendencies in Question Development on the Professional Landscape Architect Qualification Examination - Centered on Recognition of Test-Takers for Sample Questions from Previous Professional Landscape Architect Tests -)

  • 본 연구는 조경기술사 검정제도의 출제문제에 대하여 수험생들이 인식하는 체감 정도, 즉 문제의 객관성, 적정성, 난이도 등 출제되는 문제의 전반에 대한 경향을 분석 제언하여 검정제도가 학술적, 체계적으로 개선됨으로써, 조경기술사 검정제도의 정착과 조경기술사 자격의 위상 확립, 산업현장에서의 조경분야 지위 향상 등 전반적인 조경발전을 목적으로 이번 연구를 실시하였다. 조사방법은 두 단계로 나누어 전문가 집단을 활용하여 출제되는 과목 및 과목의 배정에 관한 사항을 조사하였고, 수험생 및 자격취득자를 대상으로 출제문제의 수준, 객관성, 난이도, 출제경향 등 출제되는 문제의 전반에 대해 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과, 먼저 조경기술사 검정 시 출제되는 과목이 국가기술자격법 시행규칙에 제시된 시험과목과는 달리 출제되고 있었으며, 과목배정, 시험문제의 객관성, 수준, 난이도 등에서 다양한 문제점을 내포하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 문제점의 원인은 여러 가지 요인이 있겠지만 충분한 검토 없이 문제출제, 출제위원의 관리 미흡 등 현재 진행되고 있는 검정제도의 시스템을 운영하는데 문제가 있지 않나 판단된다. 따라서 이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위해 '출제되는 시험과목의 정비', '적정한 과목 배정 및 문제의 객관성 확보', '출제문제의 수준 및 난이도 유지', '출제 시스템 개선'등에 대하여 관련부처나 단체에서는 효율적인 개선노력이 필요함을 제언하였다.
