  • The purpose of the current study is to analyze a model of OPIc-based speaking test for Korea English classroom. The research questions were (1). What is the English teachers' opinion on the current speaking teaching and testing? (2). Is the OPIc speaking test appropriate in the Korea English class? and (3). What are the English education students' perceptions of the OPIc-based speaking test for English classes? To answer the first research question, a survey was conducted targeting one hundred and forty-seven teachers. The result of the survey shows that Korea English teachers' great concern on the English teaching and speaking test are "communicative competence," "scoring and criteria," and "condition and need." To answer the second research question, the OPIc speaking test for the class was analyzed and it was found that in terms of the communicative competence," "scoring and criteria," and "condition and need" issues, OPIc based speaking test is appropriate in Korea English class. For the third research question, Q methodology was used targeting English education students and the result shows that most English education students strongly agree to the statements that the OPIc-based speaking test has the advantage to improve communicative competence. This study may provide the information about creating and adopting tests for English classes and relating standardized test and the English classes.

  • The endurance test is important to evaluate and predict defects of the vehicles. In particular, in order to improve the reliability of the endurance test for the powertrain system of military vehicles, the driving load is measured and analyzed at test courses and maneuvering roads. As a result, new test courses for powertrain system is additionally needed to improve test reliability. In this paper, it shows that new test courses for powertrain system is designed and constructed using the measuring and anlayzing result between CPG test courses and army maneuvering roads.

  • This paper presents the results of prediction of maneuverability of KCS by CPMC captive model test. The CPMC(Computerized Planar Motion Carriage) with captive model test equipment is installed at Ocean Engineering Tank of MOERI. KCS is the container ship which was open to the world by MOERI. And the test results for the prediction of maneuverability were presented by NMRI in Japan. The research results about the maneuverability of KCS were presented at SIMMAN 2008 Workshop in Denmark. The results of test and simulation of this paper are compared with the results of simulation by MOERI using test results of NMRI and simulation results by NMRI.

  • This paper proposes an improved test and evaluation methodology to be conducted for a in-flight threat-countermeasure encounter scenario. Although the conventional test method adopted in the precedent researches allows high precision and safety, such full-scale method is practically not appropriate to apply to small-scale test rounds for evaluating the subparts of the ammunition. To address this problem, this study suggests a readily-applicable, small-scale test and evaluation method of the subpart of the ammunition in firing test. In the threat-countermeasure encounter scenario, the results of several tests demonstrate that the proposed technique does not deteriorate the precision when the engagement point should be adjusted.

  • To cool down a nuclear reactor core and prevent the fuel damage without a pump-driven active component during any anticipated accident, the passive emergency core cooling system (PECCS) was designed and adopted in an advanced light water reactor, i-POWER. In this study, for a validation of the cooling capability of PECCS, thermal-hydraulic integral effect tests were performed with the ATLAS facility by simulating intermediate and small break loss-of-coolant accidents (IBLOCA and SBLOCA). The test result showed that PECCS could effectively depressurize the reactor coolant system by supplying the safety injection water from the safety injection tanks (SITs). The result pointed out that the safety injection from IRWST should have been activated earlier to inhibit the excessive core heat-up. The sequence of the PECCS injection and the major thermal hydraulic transient during the SBLOCA transient was similar to the result of the IBLOCA test with the equivalent PECCS condition. The test data can be used to evaluate the capability of thermal hydraulic safety analysis codes in predicting IBLOCA and SBLOCA transients under an operation of passive safety system.

  • Mutagenicity of recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) was examined in the reverse mutation test on bacteria, in the chromosomal aberration test on cultured mammalian cells and in the micronucleus test on mice. The reverse mutation test was performed by a plate incorporation method with or wothout a metabolic activation system (59 Mix) using Salmonella typhimurium strain TA100, TA1535, TA98 and TA 1537. The rhEPO did not significantly increase revertant colonies in any of the test strains under any conditions at dose levels ranging from 1000 H/ml to 62.5 lu/plate, compared with the vehicle control. In the chromosomal aberration test using cultured Chinese Hamster Lung (CHL) cells, the number of aberrant cells was not increased in the presence or absence of 59 Mix at concentrations of 1000 lU/ml to 250 lU/ml, compared with the vehicle control. In the micronucleus test, male ICR mice were given rhEPO intraperitoneally at a dose level of 25000, 12500 and 6250 lU/kg. The incidence of bone marrow micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes was not different from that of the vehicle control. From these results, rhEPO is considered to be non-mutagenic under the present test conditions.

  • Various artifacts that are produced as software R&D project progresses contain research plan, research report, software requirements and design descriptions, etc. When conducting a software R&D project, it is necessary to confirm that the developed system has implemented its research requirements well. However, various research results make it difficult to design appropriate tests. So, there is a practical need for us to comprehensively handle the planning, execution, and reporting of software test for finding and verifying information related to the research. In this paper, we propose a useful method for software test process in R&D project which supports model based software testing. The proposed method supports automation of test design and generation of test data by explicitly separating each step of System Under Test (SUT). The method utilizes the various models representing the control flow of the function to extract the information necessary for testing the system. And it supports a systematic testing process based on TMMi and ISO 29119. Finally, we show the validity of the method by implementing a prototype with basic functionality to generate test data from software behavioral models.

  • In order to study the open-water test and analysis techniques for pumpjet propulsors in the Large Cavitation Tunnel (LCT), at the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering, a set of test equipment was designed and manufactured. The pumpjet propulsor is composed of rotor, stator and duct resulting in the strong interaction between the components. A ring-shaped sensor was developed to measure the thrust and torque for duct and stator. The test equipment including the pumpjet is installed on an existing POW dynamometer in the reverse direction. The results from the reverse POW test setup were validated against those from the conventional POW test setup in the Towing Tank (TT) as well as in the LCT. The pumpjet open-water test was conducted at the Reynolds number of around 1.0×106, at which the obtained experimental data became stable in the Reynolds number effect test. The open-water test for the rotor (rotor-only) was conducted to study whether the duct and stator should be considered as a part of the hull or the propulsor. On the basis of the test results, it was shown that the duct and stator could be included in the propulsor. The total thrust, combined thrust of rotor, duct, and stator was used for the pumpjet open-water test analysis. As the whole pumpjet is defined as a propulsor, it is thought that the self-propulsion test and analysis could be conducted in the same way as that of the conventional propeller.

  • Comparative Statistic Module(CSM) provides more reliable list of significant genes to genomics researchers by offering the commonly selected genes and a method of choice by calculating the rank of each statistical test based on the average ranking of common genes across the five statistical methods, i.e. t-test, Kruskal-Wallis (Wilcoxon signed rank) test, SAM, two sample multiple test, and Empirical Bayesian test. This statistical analysis module is implemented in Perl, and R languages.

  • The FGI is an integral component of the MSC test equipment and is situated in a slot along the ISA bus of the test equipment PC. The main function of the FGI is an interface between the MSC image data via hotlink interface and Frame Grabber. The FGI has two independent receiving channels that allow the board to receive image data arriving. The FGI also includes two transmission channels with hotlink transmitters. Additionally, the FGI is capable of generating digital video test patterns to test the NUC.
