Background: The selection of distributions of input parameters is an important component in probabilistic exposure assessment. Goodness-of-fit (GOF) methods are used to determine the distribution of exposure factors. However, there are no clear guidelines for choosing an appropriate GOF method. Objectives: The outcomes of probabilistic consumer exposure assessment were compared by using five different GOF methods for the selection of input distributions: chi-squared test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test (K-S), Anderson-Darling test (A-D), Akaike information criterion (AIC) and Bayesian information criterion (BIC). Methods: Individual exposures were estimated based on product usage factor combinations from 10,000 respondents. The distribution of individual exposure was considered as the true value of population exposures. Results: Among the five GOF methods, probabilistic exposure distributions using the A-D and K-S methods were similar to individual exposure estimations. Comparing the 95th percentiles of the probabilistic distributions and the individual estimations for 10 CPs, there were 0.73 to 1.92 times differences for the A-D method, and 0.73 to 1.60 times differences (excluding tire-shine spray) for the K-S method. Conclusions: There were significant differences in exposure assessment results among the selection of the GOF methods. Therefore, the GOF methods for probabilistic consumer exposure assessment should be carefully selected.
The purpose of this study is to propose issues in selecting gifted children in mathematics by in-depth analysis of the selection process and items. In order to accomplish the purpose, the rate of right and wrong answers were examined based on the reaction of the students by 1st, 2nd and 3rd selection test. Also, the types of the errors were identified for the 2nd and 3rd selection test. According to the study results, the rate of right answers was low in short response questions and essay questions rather than in multiple-choice questions. In addition, the academic achievements were lower in the fields other than number & operations and logic. The conclusion of this study is that following studies regarding selection of gifted children are required linked with the project tasks and programs.
This study was conducted to identify the effect of motive for major selection, major satisfaction on the nursing career commitment among senior nursing students. Data were collected from 215 nursing students and analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis by SPSS ver. 29.0. As a result of this study, There were positive correlations between motive for major selection(r=.41, p<.001), major satisfaction(r=.35, p<.001), and nursing career commitment. The predictor on nursing career commitment was motive for major selection, explaining 39.4% (F=18.40, p<.001) of the variance. In conclusion, Through this study we found that motive for major selection has the greatest impact on nursing career commitment, it is necessary to seek educational new programs and curricula to develop nursing student's nursing career commitment.

The study is intended to help to select the pilot candidates with exceptional flight aptitude ability and to investigate the relationship between the results of the scholastic aptitude test and the flight aptitude. It is intended that the research will help to draw recommendations on the relevant fields of the scholastic aptitude test that is to be used to select the high caliber candidates with exceptional flight aptitude ability, to gauge the resulting effectiveness of its application and helping to revise the university's syllabus accordingly. From the study, korean, mathematics, english grade and the flight aptitude test results have all shown to hold mutual relationship and through simple correlation analysis, it was discovered that mathematics and English are the two factors that affect the results of the flight aptitude test, with the extent of its impact graded in descending order of English, mathematics and Korean. Lastly, the logistic regression analysis have discovered that the mathematics grade has significant effect on the classification of the flight aptitude and non aptitude category groups, and English also has significant influence close to the 0.05 p-values. It is believed that should the findings of this study be considered as part of the selection process of the university applicants of the department of aeronautical science, making discovery of candidates of higher quality is expected.

In this study, the difficulties experienced by secondary preservice science teachers in studying the theory of science education for teacher selection test were studied. At first, questions of the internet cafe for preparing the teacher selection test from January 2008 to June 2009 were analyzed in terms of content area. A survey was also administered to 39 preservice science teachers who took the teacher selection test. The rubric used in this study was developed by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation and the Korean Association for Science Education. As a result, the most frequent question areas were 'philosophy and history of science' and 'theories and models of teaching and learning science'. In the survey with the preservice science teachers, the most difficult content area was the philosophy of science. The application of teaching and learning model was also one of the most difficult areas. Based on these results, educational implications were discussed.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the present conventional selection program of a swine nucleus farm and compare it with a new selection strategy employing genomic enhanced breeding value (GEBV) as the selection criteria. The ZPLAN+ software was employed to calculate and compare the genetic gain, total cost, return and profit of each selection strategy. The first strategy reflected the current conventional breeding program, which was a progeny test system (CS). The second strategy was a selection scheme based strictly on genomic information (GS1). The third scenario was the same as GS1, but the selection by GEBV was further supplemented by the performance test (GS2). The last scenario was a mixture of genomic information and progeny tests (GS3). The results showed that the accuracy of the selection index of young boars of GS1 was 26% higher than that of CS. On the other hand, both GS2 and GS3 gave 31% higher accuracy than CS for young boars. The annual monetary genetic gain of GS1, GS2 and GS3 was 10%, 12%, and 11% higher, respectively, than that of CS. As expected, the discounted costs of genomic selection strategies were higher than those of CS. The costs of GS1, GS2 and GS3 were 35%, 73%, and 89% higher than those of CS, respectively, assuming a genotyping cost of $120. As a result, the discounted profit per animal of GS1 and GS2 was 8% and 2% higher, respectively, than that of CS while GS3 was 6% lower. Comparison among genomic breeding scenarios revealed that GS1 was more profitable than GS2 and GS3. The genomic selection schemes, especially GS1 and GS2, were clearly superior to the conventional scheme in terms of monetary genetic gain and profit.
This study proposed new instance selection using neural network with weighted fuzzy membership functions(NEWFM) based on Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy model to improve the classification performance. The proposed instance selection adopted weighted average defuzzification of the T-S fuzzy model and an interval selection, same as the confidence interval in a normal distribution used in statistics. In order to evaluate the classification performance of the proposed instance selection, the results were compared with depending on whether to use instance selection from the case study. The classification performances of depending on whether to use instance selection show 77.33% and 78.19%, respectively. Also, to show the difference between the classification performance of depending on whether to use instance selection, a statistics methodology, McNemar test, was used. The test results showed that the instance selection was superior to no instance selection as the significance level was lower than 0.05.
Selections for rapid and slow walking behavior were carried out with the populations, drived from Oregon-R and lethal free strain of Drosophila melanogaster. The behavior was measured by means of connected test-tube apparatus. The populations responded effectively to the artificial selection, and it reached the selection plateau after 7 generations. The realized heritability for the first 10 generations was estimated to be about $9\\sim14%$ for the rapid walking behavior, and those for slow walking behavior was about $11\\sim16%$. The results of hybridization analysis between selected populations at generations 8 and 10 indicated that some polygenes showing a slow walking behavior were partially dominant over polygenes controlled rapid trait. The populations selected for rapid and slow walking behavior were relaxed after 10 generations of selection. The response to natural selection of rapid population was completely returned to their neutral states after only 5 generations. Such phenomena would be explained by the genetic homeostasis resulted from an action of natural selection. However, the slow population did not make any difference from walking scores of their original artificial selection. It seems reasonable to assume that the slow walking behavior was possibly controlled by a major gene.
The objectives of this study were to examine the differences in brand selection motives according to the domestic and foreign brand selection with shirts and jeans and to disclose the relationships between the brand selection and consumers' charcteristics; like their demographic variables sociability and superiority. Samples were 262 college women in Seoul Korea. The data were analyzed using t-test paired t-test χ2-test and discriminant analysis. The results of the study were the followings. 1. Purchasers of foreign brand were influenced by 'quality' 'wearing of others', 'reputation of brand', 'possibility of credit card use' more than those of domestic while purchasers of domestic brand were influenced by price. 2. Purchasers of foreign brand had more tendency to decide which brand to buy in advance than those of domestic. 3. 6 brand selection motives consumers' income and sociability contributed to discriminating the group of domestic and foreign brand purchase with shirts. The accuracy of the predicting the groups by the 8 variables was 75.95% Consumers high in sociability and income belonged to the group of foreign brand purchase. 4,6 brand selection motives consumers' age and superiority contributed to discriminating the group of domestic and foreign brand purchase with jeans. The accuracy of the predicting the groups by the 8 variables was 72.52% Consumers high in sociability and income belonged to the group of foreign brand purchase. 4. 6 brand selection motives consumer's age and superiority contributed to discriminating the group of domestic and foreign brand purchase with jeans. The accuracy of the predicting the groups by the 8 variables was 72.52% Consumers high in superiority and youngers belonged to the group of foreign brand purchase.
